When the complaint goes up that there are no niche groups for whites as there are for others, the responding cry is "every day is white history! Every generic group is a white group! We celebrate white culture all the time already!"
I don't feel it's celebrated... O.O That's just people stuff.
And, if white culture really is celebrated, isn't it supposed to be? Who is in the country? Who labored to build a nation? I'm not saying "wheeee! White people rock!" but maybe I should. Maybe white people are awesome. I'd prob. be called an uncle Tom though. sweatdrop

SLAVES built this country. And illegal aliens, can't forget them. Oh, and American Indi--oops, I mean Native Americans.
White culture celebrated? I've heard that before, and I'd like to know what those people are smoking. White culture is dissed, not celebrated. Whites are taught self loathing as far as racial history and culture are concerned.
And blacks? Well, if what I learn in school is any indication, they have no culture aside from the civil rights movement and trying to overcome oppression and stuff. Come on. All the names of famous black people I know were civil rights activists. I know they made contributions to society in areas other than civil rights, but they never teach us anything about it. It's really kind of annoying.

Oooh kira, I have so much material and ammunition for you - but you may know of it already? Slavery began in the old country, a way of life for Arab slavetraders (even in the bible! Joseph was sold as a slave) who would routinely get slaves from Europe, Africa, and their own backyards. Slavery is still in Africa today. It is not a practice invented by the tribes of Europe. It is a thing black people have been doing to each other for millennia. Why aren't they marching against the Sudan? Where are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and other protesters against black oppression? Feminists are against oppression of women, right? Why didn't they speak out against the Taliban when we heard the reports of them beating women in the streets for showing their faces? Why don't they say anything about clidorectomies that is common in Islamic and African cultures? Where is the million women march about that? And - one of the poets of the nation was a Negro slave. The builder of our capital was a black freedman (I think). One of our most famous scientists was born in slavery. HMMM.....now how come they didn't need civil rights to accomplish great things? I wonder. Why are literacy rates lower among blacks after civil rights than they were in the first half of the 20th century? I'll stop now, but there's sooo much research on this...

From what I've heard, the colonists actually bought some of their slaves from other Africans. And feminists can't critisize people in other countries--the cultures are different there. That would be ETHNOCENTRISM!! Another semi-curse word like racist, biased, prejudice, and discrimination. Still though--why do they have to harp on and on about civil rights as though that is all there is to black culture, as though they have nothing else to contribute to society? It's really annoying. In highschool, they're still teaching exactly the same history lessons we learned in elementary school. I didn't know slavery is still practiced in Africa, but I can't say I'm very surprised. I imagine it's also still practiced in various other places as well.

Slavery in other countries? Yes - my family knew a man whose wife claimed her father sold her to an Arab when she was a child. She was a blonde woman, a native speaker of French and had two teenage children, both very dark, evidence of her previous marriage. I have no idea what the whole story is since I was so young when we met them.

Teddixx We have the Fourth of July.
Have you ever noticed that's it's only white people watching the fireworks? I didn't actually go this year because they stopped doing fireworks at the place my family usually goes.... but there was a large amount of Mexicans there every other year. I mean, it was mostly Mexicans. But then again, that town is mostly Mexican now.

Ambrey We have the Fourth of July.
Have you ever noticed that's it's only white people watching the fireworks? Yeah, I've noticed that there are a whole lot of different families watching, but really, I don't care! There is a fire ban where I live and there has been for a few years in a row. Yes white people watch fireworks but the Mexicans up my street and behind my house are the ones breaking fireban and setting off fireworks and lighting the feild on fire. They watchch them too, just in a different way.

MangaTurtle closest thing we have to White celebration day is Independance Day. No. That is an all-american holiday. Yes, I suppose it is mostly white people that participate in the fireworks and such but everybody else enjoys this holiday. What with the picnics, and bbq and other things. Nope. I don't think white people have a holiday that is specifically for them. Which is fine. But it bugs me that black people get a whole month to celebrate their culture and teach everybody what they supposedly dealt with. A few hundred years of slavery. Well whoop dee doo. The jews had how many millenia!?! I have never in my life heard them actually complain about it to the point that black people do. Some black people even use their so called oppression as an excuse to get away with things. Like we white people owe them something. Check this, every race has been enslaved at least once in history by another race and a lot of times even their own. Just look at the Romans. They seemed to enslave everybody. So get over it already. You're like dwarves. Once wronged you never forget about it and hold that grudge for centuries. Feel free to correct me on a lot of this. Not all is fact but my own ignorance and ranting. But ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice. I got that from a fortune cookie xd
