 Shikoba was lying under a tree, his legs folded underneath his body, staring out across the field. The wind was light, and the sun wasn't hindered by any clouds, so the shade of the tree was a nice relief from being in the sun all day. He nibbled here and there on some grass.
He looked briefly up at the sky and saw a bird soaring above him, riding the currents in a downward spiral. He ruffled his own wings slightly, considering taking flight himself. But that sun was just too much right now. He folded his wings close to his body, and remained in the comfortable shade of the tree.

Really this dreadful sun needed to sink back behind the horizon and give him a break from baking in his own hide. This is why he preferred the mountains rather than the plains. There just wasn't enough of a cross breeze to make him happy to be out and about.
Shaking his head the stallion headed for a patch of trees and what he hoped would be a respite from the blazing sun. At least in the shade he'd only suffocate on the heat and not fry.

As Shikoba returned his gaze to the earth around him, he could hear the sound of hoof beats approaching, and looked around. He spotted a large black stallion. Well, his was mostly black. The bottoms of his legs looked almost as if they were glowing. That was indeed strange. Maybe he was a friend of the fireflies or something. Either way, Shikoba didn't care enough to ask. He merely nodded his head to the stallion, and offered a plain greeting.
"Good day."

His head lifted as he heard another speak. Well well a feather headed stallion, would wonders never cease.
"greetings." He bowed his head slightly as he came to a stop. He'd seen many things in his life but this was a new one. That mane and that tail, or almost lack of one, were certainly not something he'd come across every day.

Shikoba stood, and he noticed the other looking at him. He straightened himself up and fluffed his feathers a bit.
"Do you have a problem with the way I look? Because it is very rude to stare, you know."
He tossed his head, moving his mane out of his eyes, and it fell back down onto his body very lightly, the golden hairs shining as they caught the sun.

"That is is, how wonderful of you to take notice." He grinned at the feathered Soquili. "I would not say i have a problem with it more a curisouty as i have never seen one with such, plumage, as yourself"
There was nothing wrong with being curious well unless you were of the furry and feline persuasion.

Shikoba didn't really like the way this stallion was acting. He was being very smart about the whole thing, and it rubbed Shikoba the wrong way. However, he did realize that there weren't many other Soquili around that had wonderful wings like his. But still, he was staring.
"Well, if you were curious, you should ask a question instead of just staring at me like that."
He ruffled his wings, just for a bit of extra emphasis. They were indeed very handsome, and Shikoba was proud of them, even if he acted offended.

"Or i could stare and make you twitch slightly just for the added entertainment that it would bring to my day." His grin widened slightly. "Always have to leave room for every reaction to happen. Makes life easier if you don't take everything at the value it's given to you"
The other stallion would probably consider him horribly rude but then again who didnt? It made life more interesting when everyone wasn't completely happy all the time.

Shikoba snorted. How rude! This other stallion was mocking him! He had had a streak of bad luck in meeting rude Soquili. First that stupid white mare, and now this stallion.

Well, Shikoba was being a little two-faced here. He was repeatedly rude to others. Like the little filly Epesi, and that stupid little pony, Ahote. And here he was now, saying that being rude for no reason was pathetic. But what did this stallion know? He knew nothing about Shikoba, so it wasn't hurting anybody.

"Who said i needed to do that to have a better day?" He shook his mane out and looked back at the other stallion. "Though one could say that you are doing just the same. Making assumptions on what i do just based on a few words"
Taking a few steps away from the other he walked around him slowly. "After all, you have no idea what my motivation for doing such could be."

Shikoba snorted and watched as the other stallion walked around him.
"Well, you didn't say you needed it, but you did say that it made your day better."
This stallion was pushing Shikoba's buttons. What was with this attitude? Who did he think he was, acting all smart like this. He had to be put in his place. Shikoba stepped aside, not allowing the black horse to circle him anymore, and looked straight in to his eyes.
"Who are you, and what's the deal with this attitude?"

"Well it does. It's far more entertaining when i can make other's tip this way or that." He stopped as the winged one turned to face him. Even given the look he was being shot his grin stayed firmly in place.

Ok, so he had a name, but what good did that do him? And this Crowley didn't answer his question about the attitude. What did he want?
"Well, Crowley, I am still awaiting an answer about your little attitude. Why did you feel the need to come upon me here as I was resting and fling this smart attitude at me?"
Shikoba had been having such a nice time in the shade of the trees before this stallion came in and started pestering him for no apparent reason.

"I believe ... you spoke to me first so i would hardly say that i intruded upon your solitude." He chuckled quietly as he shifted his weight. "Had you said nothing to me who is to say that i would have not walked past without a word?"
It should have been obvious that the 'attitude' was simply the product of how the other stallion was reacting to his words. He had been nothing but pleasant so far.

Well, he had him there. Shikoba was indeed the first to speak. See, he was trying to be nice and friendly, and look where it got him. Stuck with this obnoxious stallion. But what was he going to do now? If he told him to leave, that definently wouldn't fall under the category of being friendly. He sighed, and shook back his long mane.
"Well, if you're going to hang around, we might as well have a decent conversation. Where are you from?"
He felt a little lame after that tiny little question, but he had no idea what else to ask the stallion. Perhaps this would lead into a more interesting conversation?
