 Ati wandered through a feild, out of the forest, stepping carefully with his cut feet. He didn't know how long he had been wandering, but he was skinny and hadn't eaten in ages. He didn't know where his parents were... he assumed that they were dead. So he just kept on wandering, not having met anyone since he was separated from his family.
He hummed a little under his breath, but that was all he could muster. He finally found a stream and bent down to drink from it, his steps faltering as he fell down beside it and closed his tired eyes.
Mom... dad... He tried to stand and couldn't, so the young up just dragged himself to the stream and drank, and did not get up again.((...I'm in a black mood, what can I say? lol))

Kyuukazen was the strongest of her siblings. Her motrher, she assumed, did not want them, so she left the three in a small dug out cave to die. Kyuukazena dn her sister and brother had tried to forage for food, but her sister was killed by a bear when she tried to steal a fish from a cub, and then Kyuu's brother died from starvation. Both had been too weak and natural selection had ruled them useless. So Kyuu was not tottally and utterly alone. Her husky frame was thinning quickly, as her metabolism was feating on her muscles and her ribs where already becomign visible under her thick chocolate coat.
The sound of a stream was like music to Kyuu's ears. Where streams where, water was, and water meant fish. She wasn't a good fisher, but if the salmon were spawning, she'd just follow the river upstream and see if any dead salmon were floating about. But first, she needed water!
When her eyes first laid on the stream, she saw a small blue blotch of fur next to the stream. She blinked and almost thought it prey. Soon she realized it was anotehr pup. A weaker pup, once who had been wandering with no food or water she assumed. She slowly approached from the opposite side of the stream and dug her snoat into the cool waters. She drank thirstily and when she pulled her maw out of the water and gasped for breather, her face was soaked.
Kyuu looked up to the other pup and contemplated speaking to him. Maybe she could help him? But... could she get him to trust her, and he looekd tired, she knew she was strong for a pup, but not strong enough to carry another. Her endurence was almost out, and she needed to save it for finding the salmon.

Ati tried again to stand when he saw another pup across the stream. He was almost afriad to talk to her, so he almost turned and ran, but instead he stayed. Mostly because he couldn't move. In all truth, hadn't been weak once. Before he had gotten lost. Now he was just scrawney and wanted something, anything to eat.
"...h-h-help..." He whispered quietly, not hearing the other pup behind him, "Please...someone...help..."

Kyuukazan watrched him with pitting eyes. Not knowing whether to let nature finish its work, or to interveine. She sighed and took a few strides back, and leapt the short distance across the stream and slid a small distaance past the male pup who cried forhelp. The females dark back paws were caked in mud and her front paws, which were normally a creamy white, were dirtied and looked black. Dirt was baked into her thick coat and her eyes were dulling from lack of food and energy.
"How far do you think you can walk... I might be able to carry you a little bit upstream, but if I'm to catch either of us food, I'll need my endurance..." The pup spoke softly as she apprached the blue male. He looked so much thiner then she, his ribs were more visable then ehrs, but she had managed to duig up roots to give her more energy and had found the left over scraps of an olddeer. The only thing the hunter had left was a few strips of flesh and a pile of rotting bones. Kyuu only ate what had smelled not as rotten, but that only gave her energy enough to find a small whole and dig a den out of it.

"I can... walk." Ati nodded, laughing a little, "I half expected you to finish me off... but I guess I don't look very tastey like this do I? I'm so pathetic... a pretator could just come and get me any second." he forced himself to stand, stumbling a few steps before he nodded, "Thank you... I just... I didn't know what to do... I lost my... my family..."

The female looked down, she felt sympathy for this pup because she had seen her siblings die, she didn't want to think the odds were so against them all. She nodded to his thanks and offered her shoulder for him to lean against as they walked. She slowly led him upstream, offering to rest when she thought he might fall over, or pass out from the physical stress he must have been putting on his body.
"My brother and sister both died... one by starvation, the other was eaten by a bear... I guess you reminds me of ym brother in someways... I just want to make sure that no other pups I meet, or know, die because of abandonment..." Kyuu admited finally. She wasn't going to let herself, or this pup die. It was just a little further untill they hit a spot she had seen some ebars by earlier. If they were lucky, there would be scraps, or fresh fish still.

Ati smiled, "You're a very noble pup then... my parents were alot like you..." That much was true. His parents had been good wolves, albiet loners, they had been happy. They had protected their family. He had loved them. The blue spotted wolf stumbled a little, but he leaned on her shoulder, feeling more weak and pathetic than he was willing to admit. She could have easily killed him, if she had wanted to. All of him had wanted to hide and find food for himself, but he knew in his state, he would just die.
He couldn't die yet.
"I'm Ati. What's your name?" He finally asked her, after they had walked a little and he was back in the swing of keeping moving, no matter how much pain he was in. He had to stay alive somehow. And he would repay her for helping him.

"I... I'm... not entirely sure... my brother called me Kyuukazen, so that might be my name... but my mother left us as soon as we were born... I guess you can just call me Kyuu... Nice to meet you Ati..." She stumbled over her words a bit. She felt very stupid and pathetic after realizing her mother didn't even name her or her siblings. She sighed softly and shook away the thoughts of helplessness. Kyuu had to be strong, for her sake, and Ati's. Who knew, maybe he would become her friend and they could help one another out later on?
As Kyuu felt him shift some of his weight onto her, she was glad she wasn't born as frail as her sister and brother, and was glad she was a bit more husky in bone structure. She eyed him through the corners of her pale optics as she pondered conversations. Talks got her mind of her hunger and was sure it took his off the pain he must surely feel. "So how many siblings did you have?"

"I have... had, three." Ati sighed, "One died... when we were very young. Only just born I suppose. My other three... they fell off the cliff with me, during a storm a few weeks ago. My parents too... I wooke up... and I don't know where any of them went. Or if they're still alive." He shook his head, trying to smile, "But I guess that means that there's still a chance that they're maybe still alive."
He did try to hope that his siblings were still alive somewhere, but he had no real idea what had happened to them. He had barely survived the fall, really. It had been the scariest thing he had ever encountered. And then waking up alone... he didn't know what to do. How to hunt or navigate. It frightened him.

Kyuu nodded and stopped when they reached the area where the water fell down a few rocks into a small waterfall. Kyuu nosed Ati to lay down and rest while she walked up to the shore and gazed out seeing if any fish were thrashing about. She spotted a few try to jump up the waterfall, so Kyuu wandered over to the edge just by the waterfall and waited for one to jump up into her jaws.
It took lots off patience and staying calm before she fianlly caught one. The urge to woof it down was there, but Kyuu ignored it and trotted over to the male who she ahd saved. "Here... eat this, and then I'll go fishing for one for me... this one isn't big, but it should help you get your energy back...." She said softly. It now occured to Kyuu that she was a bit bad at this whole social thing. She wasn't use to talking to someone. She really hadn't talked to her siblings al that much, so this was sort of weird for her.

Ati could only smile at her, "Thank you, thank you so much." And then he dug in, practically ripping the fish to shreds to get all of the meat he could. He avoided the bones, and when he was done, they were all that was left.
He smiled and allowed himself to relax for the moment, snuggling into the dirt and yawning, feeling better almost instantly. Kyuu was doubtlessly strong, stronger and clearly better at living on her own than he was. That was what he saw as an advantage, and she had also been nice to him when no one else had. For the moment, he needed her and he owed her one. He could deal with that for the greater good of his own preservation, but he also knew that they would have a better chance of survival if they stuck together.

Kyuu nodded and trudged back to the water. This next time was easier to get a fish, and he deicded to get a few more before he went back. He had, in all, collected two for him, and gotten another two for Ati. He knew Ati needed the food and figured they could help one another out until the went their seperate ways in adult hood, or something. "Here... when you finish, we can find shelter to stay in for a while. The salmon will inhabit this area a bit longer..."
Kyuu then turned to his two fish and dug his fanges into them. After stripping the scales off the first and nipping the meat off the bones, he looked up to see how ati was doing, before he came down onto his second fish. Once he was done, he used his paw to smash the smaller bones off the long spine and began chewing on it. His mother told him that gnawing on bones could clean his teeth and keep them from rotting out. [What ever that meant.]

Ati nodded and continued eating, "Yeah... I think we'll probably have a better chance of staying alive if we stick together. At least when we're still little..." Of course, Ati knew that he would have to find a pack of some sort soon. Even if he did survive puphood, he didn't know enough about living on his own to do so. He would have to find a pack... and a safe one at that.
However, Kyuu was strong and brave, which gave Ati more hope. Maybe he could live to survive on his own, or with just the other pup until they found their own ways.
