I'm not sure. I don't consider myself a hippie. However, being a hippe, in essense, would be the peace, the culture. smile

I definitely don't believe that being a hippie is about the drugs. People have thought of me as a hippie since i was in high school, and I definitely wasn't doing any sort of drugs then. Like any subculture, music has a great significance. I have an appreciation for all music, and I do happen to enjoy a bit of reggae, and i have a preference for music that was made in the 60s. In my opinion, a hippie is someone who goes with the flow- doesn't take root anywhere .. hopefully that makes sense.
I am labeled "hippie" for the way that i dress, the way that i dance, and the way that i really don't care what others think about me. I would be quick to grab a picket sign for any cause that i support. I don't consider myself a pot-head, but if people around me are smoking you can bet that i'll be in the rotation.
Well.. if i can think of anything else to say i'll come back to this thread- i'm out of words for now.

being a hippie is about the freedom, the love, the exploring of the mind. the kindness, the peace, and the things certain people wouldn't understand, like embracing nature and enjoying the little things in life.

My friends and I made a little something called ' Hippie Town'. What we love best is our motto, "Peace, Love and Charity! "

It always upsets me a little when people make the instant connection that hippies don't bath, always do drugs, and are lazy. I'e heard that stereotype so many times, and it's not usually right. I've always been called a hippie, and really identified with it, but I've never done drugs and I always bathe. I am a vegetarian though. smile
