Interesting. Hmmm...I'd rather watch the subbed. I like the Japanese voice actors better.

Ugh, Light's voice is disgusting.

I wonder how Near and Mello will sound? eek And Misa. It kinda makes me shiver. As for L's voice, that is just that weird computer voice to cover up his voice right? Right? RIGHT? burning_eyes

"Light's voice makes me cringe," stated Psyco Dipicto. "The american Death Note is going to suck butt."

"But," added Psyco Dipicto, "the script isn't half bad, I'll admit."

I'm not very fond of Light's voice. I might be able to get used to it, but I prefer the japanese voice. I have a guess which part of the garbling is L's voice, and if I'm right I don't like his voice. If I'm wrong, disregard the last sentence.

I'm especially worried about Misa's voice though. I don't like Misa, but I love Aya Hirano's voice acting and singing. To me, that's created an almost unreachable bar, especially since voice actors are pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to singing, and the scene in episode 25 would be killed if she sang horribly.

I'll have to hear Near's and Mello's voices, though. Unlike L, Light, and Misa, their voices will only be compared to the voices I mentally add when reading the manga. Although that can still be hard to beat sometimes.

It's very rare that I like a character's English voice BETTER than their Japanese voice, but there's still a big difference between "alright, but could be better" and "absolutely horrible".

I dunno. I used to be huge in the "DUBS BAD! SUBS GOOD!" fight, but looking back, a lot of the time the original "OMG I don't like it!" comes from just being unused to the voice, and comparing it to the Japanese voice. I learned this when I realised that I like the French VAs in Card Captor Sakura better than the Japanese VAs, since I watched most of the series in French before being exposed to the Japanese version. (Tomoyo's voice in Japanese is far too squeaky! ... Although she does sing a lot better than in French)


So, same goes for Death Note. I haven't watched much of the anime, (I've mostly stuck to the manga, so far) so their Japanese voices haven't been embeded into my head, yet. Thus, Light's voice seems "Okay" to me. Not perfect, but not horrible.
