Ah 'ell. Fluke stumbled again on those sneaky, tangly roots that insisted on trying to make his walk impossible. His wounds were still very much noticeable as he limped along, sucking in a pained breath if he jarred his side too much.

He was walking considerably slowly now, pausing to rest every so often. Yet there was a determination that was rather surpising in a wolf who would have been an omega if he were in a pack. He was just thankful that he wasn't alone in this and that Iphis had decided to stay. He would never admit it, but he appreciated her being here, he didn't klike being alone and he was a lot less jumpy when she was around.

He considered the stocky female to be a bodyguard of sorts, and relied on her to protect him if they were attacked by any mean lones they might meet. He relied on her almost like a pup did to a mother. But really, Fluke was a pup still, he was very dependant and rather clingy at that.

Miss Bloo... He muttered, adopting the nickname that she seemed to hate. Miss Bloo, do yah know where weh are, eh?

The big, blue female was surprised that her small, black and white companion was still going. She was still worried that he might keel over - the injury on his side still seemed to be giving him some trouble (and that didn't surprise her it had looked horrible..)

She looked down at him, her yellow eyes full of worry. When he tripped she automatically leaned towards him in an effort to keep him upright. Despite their somewhat shaky start at friendship the pair seemed to have become close. Iphis now seemed to have been given some purpose in life and as much as she didn't like the idea of possibly running into the wolf who had done this to Fluke she would almost be glad of the chance to pay them back in kind. She certainly wouldn't have let the skinny runt of a male face them himself again. This one they needed to warn had better be worth all his trouble.

She grunted softly with displeasure as he used the name she had told him not to but made no further comment at the moment. "Ah don't ken where wi' are Fluke... Ah wis kinna followin' you" she said, wondering once again if the scrawny little furball was fit to be travelling at all. She didn't know this territory, afterall, and he was the one on a mission.

"Don't tell me yeh don't ken where we are?" she said, groaning a little.

It wasn't often that the old male took a day to just sleep off his worries, but today was one of them. The sun was radiating through the trees and warming his fur, he has just killed a small rabbit that now lay dormant in his belly. For once he felt a little content on his tiny little spit of land in the middle of nowhere.

((Sorry for the crappy delayed post. >_<))

He didn't reply at first, because he wasn't too sure whether he did or not. Smart he may have been but a navigator he was not. Mindlessly wandering as he did wasn't exactly good practise for it in any case.

A'course ah know. He replied finally, lowering his head to snuffle the ground. Uhhh... He clamped his jaw shut and turned to glance back at his companion. What should he say? That they were almost there? That they would be arriving any day now? He couldn't because that would be a blatant lie.

They were lost.

Weer jus' a bi' more...south than ah had wanted. By now they were crossing the area very close to where Jagger lay.

Wolves're born wit the instinct, righ'?

Iphis sighed heavily. "Yeh really don't ken where we are do yeh?" her head fell a little in consternation as she looked around at a landscape filled with scents and scenery she didn't know. "Instinct, maybe, but yeh have tae learn aboot the land and a' that when yer growin' up." she said, trying to put difficult thoughts into words.

She had known her homeland well and based on that had a vague idea of what a place might be like if it's landscape was just so... For example muddy, low lying land would likely have easy water access and such like. These were simple observance, though, nothing special really.

What they needed, if Fluke didn't know the way, was someone who maybe knew the territory better. She eyed the black and white scraggly male with a grimace on her maw. "Ah thought yeh knew where ye were goin!" she barked irritably.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Jagger's ear twitched as twigs snapped and brush was moved aside nearby, then came the voices and scents of two other wolves. In an instant his ears were standing straight up and he tripped onto his feet. The scraggly old male spotted the small black and white male and the larger, more muscular female. Mates, possibly? Siblings?

"HEY!" Jagger barked, ears lying flat on his head. The male might have been easy to take down, but not the female... what was it with meeting so many large females these days? Hopefully she didn't come after them, at which case he would surely have to run for it.

Although he might have looked a little threatening with fresh blood on his muzzle from his latest kill, his sickly build and ragged posture quickly showed he wasn't any threat.

Fluke shook his head and the ruff around his neck fluffed up as he did so. Ah ne'er learned nothin' about the land here. He replied finally. Ne'er been 'ere before. He gave her a grumpy look, though it wasn't genuine irritation, not anymore. It may have been at one time now but Fluke knew that he needed her and he would not chase her away with any sharp words from his own tongue.

Mebbeh we can..uhhh... He turned to face the way he was walking, picking his way carefully along the rugged path.

Then he heard it. The sudden yell that all but stopped his heart. He jumped out of his skin and suddenly seemed to flatten against the ground, his wounded side causing him to wince. Then he stepped back to make an attempt at hiding behind Iphis.

He said nothing, just trembled.

Iphis, knowing they were on the trail of some dangrous wolf who she didn't know did not take too well to having someone call out cose by. She had allowed herself to be distracted by wondering where the pair were and hadn't even picked up the smell of the ragged male.

Her stocky, short, muscular frame tensed tightly in an instant, hackles bristling as she faced the direction of the call. Grey, white, black was motly what she seen - a ragged wolf who did not look enitrely pleased at their presence. Half unconsciously she moved in front of Fluke.

The male didn't seem like he'd be any trouble for her and she knew now that he couldn't have been the one to hurt Fluke - that had been a female. No, no doubt this was a wolf whose territory they'd stumbled across in thei efforts to reach their goal. Bugger. Iphis was not exactly good at the niceties of talking with people and being on edge didn't help. "Who are you?" her accent was slightly thick, harsh. "And whit are ye shoutinlike that fur?" she growled out, disliking that she had been made to feel so jumpy, offguard.

The growl that came from the blue femme's throat made the old wolf double-guess his strategy. Run now? Keep up the facade of being brave? Then again, he couldn't let himself be run out just yet... not until she came for his throat. This tiny patch of land was all he had. No mate, no pack, no friends. Only a few wolves that had passed through and stayed for a conversation that merely lasted until one of them went their own way. He knew no one and he would be the only one upset by his death.

Not even Inca.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and took a cautionary step back, tail trembling a bit. "I could ask the same of you." Jagger said, wanting to know their name before he gave his own. "And I think I have the right to shout when I'm awoken by trespassers." Orange eyes narrowed ever so slightly and at that moment, the male realized tiny details that would hinder his escape in the slightest way possible.

The blood and caked on mud from his kill earlier felt like they glued his paws to the ground. The weight of the rabbit in his stomach made it feel like he had just swallowed a weight that begged to be vomited back up. The femme looked like a monster ready to lunge... and the tiny male didn't even register in his brain. He was too minor of a detail and wouldn't hinder his escape if the time came.

The tension in his heart eased as Iphis stepped forwards and slowly Fluke realised that he was in safe paws. He may have argued with the blue wolf a lot but deep down he knew she cared. If she didn't she wouldn't be protecting him now.

In fact, Fluke was glad that in the whole wide forest he had bumped into her. Sure, their friendship was rocky and they often disagreed but in a sticky situation like this he could think of no better wolf to have by his side.

The half-breed tipped his ears forwards slighty at the pass of words between the two.

If weh're trespassin' then where's the rest o' your pack, eh? Fluke snorted, absorbing the confidence from his companion. If yoo tell us where weh are then ah won't set my guard wolf on yoo. His tail tweaked upwards very slightly.

((XD ahahaha I literally burst out laughing at "If yoo tell us where weh are then ah won't set my guard wolf on yoo" Sorry about the delay, guys >_<))

Iphis' ears twitched slightly, tension flicking them back and forward as she tried to size up her opponent. She'd never been shy of a fight but if they could get away without it - especially with Fluke being wounded as he was. He didn't seem huge, maybe a bit older too and she reckoned she could take him if she had too.

Fluke, though, seemed to be able to word things better than she was (and that was really saying something..) and she didn't add anything to his challenge. She raised an eyebrow slightly though. 'My guard wolf' eh? She'd have words about that later. Assuming there was a later.

With the other at her side, feeling pretty confidant, she also held herself up a little higher. It wasn't often she had been able to do that in the past but more and more of late she was getting into situations which allowed her to be that little more forward and self-empowered. The dire wolf was in her, she thought, this was the way it should be.

The wolfess stood a little bit straighter, more poised, her lips curling back and blue fur fluffing up. Even with her shorter legs she was still a large wolf and played that off to her advantage. The fiction of being Fluke's brute might work out. Of course she didn't really think all of that through it just seemed apparent and instinctive.

Another short growl escaped her throat as Fluke finished speaking.

Jagger's orange gaze went down to Fluke, then up to Iphis rapidly, back and forth. What should be do? Tell them he had no pack? That he was all alone? That would just make him seem even more vulnerable then he already was. His ears flattened and he fought with himself over what to do. He couldn't even really tell them where they were, as this was all he knew.

So he bolted.

With a bob of his head he shot off in the opposite direction, running as fast as he could.

(( LOL Iphis can beat Fluke up later xD Thanks for the RP Kitara! ))

His head shot up out of surprise at the retreating wolf and with a snort he curved his tail and puffed out his chest. Well now, that was the first time any wolf had been scared of his threats. Little did he know that it was probably Iphis and her scary disposition that had scared poor Jagger.

There was pride etched on his muzzle as he turned to face his 'guard wolf'. Ah guess he were nah in th' mood fer talkin'. He replied. Bu...weh still nah know where weh are, eh? He sniffed somewhat pathetically and then staggered slightly, wheezing as he suddenly remembered his wounded side.

Ah think we shou' leave tha' little wolf to run. We gotta be headin' right. Ah'm sure it wa' this way... But he wasn't. He wasn't sure at all.
