Who: Edward Elric & Liliana (possibly some of the other members of my family but I really hope not. ^_^)
What: hanging out at Lily's house
Where: Trel's house in Bass'ken Woods -brand new alchemist's workshop.
When: Monday 7 May 2007 (after the full moon, after the kits grow, about the same time Ginny's talking with Endless or a little later)
Why: C'mon, if your best friend was staying at your house wouldn't some interesting things happen?

The door opened onto a new room. It looked like a laboratory of sorts and held within it everything that an alchemist could possibly need. Well, except for a philosopher's stone. For some reason even though she had tried to picture one in her mind when the room was created the closest Liliana had come was a stone that matched the appearance in the book. Even looking at it this first time the witch knew it was not the thing her friend had mentioned.

"Hurry in, Edward." The winged female hissed urgently, green eyes keeping a watch over the surprisingly empty -or seemingly empty- great room of the house. "Before trouble cubed or Trel-kit spot us."

Ever since Ed had started staying with them the playful kits always seemed to want to play with the teen. It was hard to avoid all of the family so much, but Lily was worried that her friend would get overwhelmed with too much, too many, too constant. Hitting him with the whammy that her Daddy was a werewolf. That's when she thought of the -and now Aiden- was a werewolf probably was not easy on him. That was when she thought of creating the 'surprize'.

Moving to the side so the fullmetal alchemist could move by her Liliana smiled. "Besides, you've gotta see whether I thought of everything. I compiled things from a bunch of those alchemy books in the library."

The whole ordeal with Liliana's father and sibling had been a bit surprising for Edward, but it wasn't anything he couldn't take in stride. After all.. he'd seen some disturbing things in his 'before' after all, but nothing quite like that. His heart went out to Liliana and her family, knowing that it must be quite a struggle having to deal with such a thing. As far as the household children, Edward didn't mind playing with them at all, although yes... it could get overwhemling after awhile. He liked kids, but not to the point he wanted to be around them 24/7. Maybe when he was old enough to have a family he would be, but not now.

Coming in through the door, Edward came to Liliana's side to look at the room before them. Golden eyes widened in surprise as he took in the laboratory. "Whoa..." was all he could say for a few moments, taking it all in. "You made this room?" he then asked, looking to Liliana... wondering why she would. Even in his days as a State Alchemist, he hadn't used a lab of this fashion.

Green eyes twinkled as Liliana made sure the door was shut behind them before giving an answer. "Pretty much. It took some imagining, but there were enought visual refrences & other details for the basics."

Her grin faded a trace bit, as she fret. "I hope everything works right. It should I tried to read up enough on everything in my spare time... but if anything doesn't work as it should, go to Myranda & ask her for what you need. Or ask me & I'll aske her for you." The crimson furred female knew how difficult the GaiaCom witch could be. And that was with her not being male. At least Edward was not full grown yet, saving him from the worst of the male-distrusting android's unfriendliness. No, that was too mild a word.

I can't believe sometimes how she likes our Timex... maybe because he reminds her of the dead Timex that placed her order? But how could she know? At least she's almost pleasant with Daddy & Uncle Aiden. Hemi too, but then I guess it's hard for even an AI to resist Hemi's loving charms. Unless you're Katsumi. Why's she so angry all the time anyway? I bet Hemi will break through. Sooner or later... Liliana shook her head to stop her train of thought, gold tipped ears swinging from the motion. She had made the room as an refuge from too much family, no matter how much she loved them.

"So... do you like it?" The female asked, a worried wobble to her usually steady voice.

Edward scampered from Liliana's side to take a closer look at the room. Looking at the books and the equipment. He couldn't believe it... Liliana had really out done herself... and it was for him? At her question, the teen stopped and looked to her.. his eyes reflecting how touched he was by this gift. Nobody had ever done anything like this for him before. A grin lighting up his face.

"Like it? Its perfect Lili." He then walked back to stand infront of her, looking up with that still illuminated smile. "I don't really know what to say... but thank you." Whether everything worked or not... it didn't matter. This was the best gift he'd ever recieved. He hadn't realized that she cared so much about his interests in alchemy, and he felt a little guilty that he hadn't expressed as much enthusiasm in her magic.

She watched Edward check everything out with anxious trepidition, each time half -or more- expecting to see a disappointed flash on his face.

"Really?" Tension seemed to melt from her slight frame and Liliana smiled once more. She sat giddily, wrapping her tails about her front paws and smiling at the light in her friend's smiling face. "You're welcome."

Relaxing, Remus' eldest daughter slid to a laying position on the floor, pushing her hindquarters back as she did, resting her head thoughtfully on gold-tipped paws without looking away from her friend's face. The mithril -or titanium as Edward seemed to think the mystical metal was scientifically- alchemist symbol around her neck slipped to the side of her left paw, partially covered by the longer crimson hair that framed Liliana's face. "I thought you could use someplace to work or play or just plain escape when you needed to. Even from me."

She grinned brightly, indicating an attempt at humor. Then her eyes flashed uncertainly, flickering at her paws then to the symbol beside them. Passed down from teacher to student... Was she his student?

Amusement flicked over his facial features as she settled down and explained why she had made this place for him. He laughed cheerfully, "Why would I need to escape from you? You're my best friend, Lili. That's why I gave that to you." His paw moving to point at the pendant she wore. However, his smile faded as he saw the look of uncertainty in her eyes. "Is there something wrong?"

Had she brought him here for another reason as well? A look of concern showing in his expression as he sat next to her, placing his paw of flesh on her shoulder. Perhaps she's just been bothered by recent events, what with everything that's happened with her family lately, he would be too.

She managed a smile at his words, then shook her head in the negatory at the questions. "Not wrong, no. And who knows? You stay here long enough you might find yourself wanting some time just to yourself. That means from me too."

But it felt nice to have his paw on her shoulder and she smiled to show that before looking at the symbol once more. He gve it to her because they were best friends? Liliana liked that, but... "I thought you said these were given teacher to student... I've read a bit, but I've not been much of a student."

Her green eyes looked up into his eyes then. Endless had told her to tke time fore herself... and she had -reading up on alchemy and rereading the book series that spoke of the mythril. Sure, other's would call it studying. Liliana called it a break.

The young alchemist nodded, "That's true... but I had a strong bond with my teacher. She was like a second mother to me." A wistful smile appearing on Edward's maw as he thought about the past events in his former life. He then sweatdropped a bit, "And she could be really scary sometimes too.. aheh." He then looked back to her, "Lili... of all those in this world, I feel the closest to you. It felt only right... but if you really want to learn alchemy, I can teach you." He'd probably be a lot more forgiving and understanding than her potions teacher that he's heard about. After all.. its not like he really had anything better to do with his time these days. Back then, he'd been so absorbed with finding the philosopher's stone and dealing with the homunculi. In this life, none of that seemed to matter except the occasional tangle with Envy. Edward really didn't know what to do with himself. In many ways, he got to make up for some of his lost childhood. To gain a few friends and really spend time with them. Although really, he did miss his former friends and especially his brother.
Then he did something he hadn't before, the teen giving her a friendly nuzzle. He truely cared about Liliana, she was one of the few that had taken the time to try and know him. She's done so much for him as well.

Liliana was grinning, feeling warm fuzzies that she usually associated with being around Hemi stir within her. "Really?"

All her vocabulary and only that one word to show for it? She wanted to find the words to say something more but then Edward nuzzled her and she blinked in surprise, all thoughts running from her head at the unexpected gesture. Of course Liliana never realized that she was usually the one to innitiate physical shows of affection with her friends -at least not on a thought level. Something in her clearly understood the novelty.

She grinned in a silly manner, resting her head on her paws in a relaxed way."I think I'd like to learn some alchemy. At least enough to understnd the theories I've read more clearly."

Her tails swished happily across the clean floor as she grinned at Ed. "So what do you mean by "she could be scary"?"

Teaching her basic alchemy shouldn't be too hard. Liliana is intelligent and a quick learner from what he's seen. She should have little trouble picking up on the basic concepts. While Edward didn't know everything, he was at an advanced level and was well suited to teach her a few things. A returned grin and a nod was given to Liliana.

When she brought up his teacher again, he sweatdropped once more. "Eh... well I guess the best way to describe it is tough love. She use to tell me that to train the mind, you must first train the body. She didn't exactly go easy on us." One thing that was a disadvantage about being a Kitsusagi.. was that he couldn't practice his martial arts skills as easily. Being on four legs made it a little difficult. However, Edward still tried to keep himself in good physical shape.

With someone like Liliana as his friend, Edward was finding it a lot easier to open up and speak about his previous life.

"Tough love?" She had read about such an idea, but since the concept of love was one she could not grasp beyond the love of her family the concept of tough love was further having never been exposed to it closer than her books. The way Edward looked... she could not place it and so it perplexed her. It was not how he looked upon mentioning his parents from before, or when speaking of Setsumi or Roy Mustang. She tried comparing it to how Endless was when speaking of his parents... but there was no comparrison.

"Train the body to train the mind? Is that like having to take walks so that your legs don't cramp up while studying?" Oh yeah, Liliana had no idea. Book learning sometimes really fell short when it came to life.
PostPosted: Thu May 10, 2007 3:44 pm

Edward blinked at her in surprise as the concept seemed totally foreign to her. She talked about reading and books a lot.. which he certainly could appreciate... but. "Uh... not really. See, my teacher taught us self defense, as in martial arts. Although in this world, I haven't been able to put that to good use."

He settled down again and looked to her with a wondering expression. "Does all your knowledge come from books, Lili? That's all well and good, cause I like to read too.. but you can also learn through experience. Get out in the world and really live instead of being couped up inside a house all the time." Come to think of it... he almost never saw her outside, with the exception of making the trip between here and the HQ. He laughed lightly, "You kind of remind me of someone from my 'before'. She really liked books too, and had a photographic memory. She could write a copy of any book she read, just from memory alone."

As strange as it may seem, not one in her very extensive family knew any martial arts. Not fully or extensively. Self defense? I wonder if that's like for a wisard's duel? or more like Uncle Aiden with Trel's late husband's swords? Or Zell, the little tala pup who can punch with his paws and bounce all over the place? Or mybe more like when Trel and Uncle Aiden are playing and he comes at her with a sword, but she ducks in around it and flips him over her? She could see many of her family's sparring and practicing sessions when they kept to the house's glade through the window when in the library, or sometimes from the porch when it was insisted she needed fresh air. Of course most of the books she read did not have much to deal with such subjects. Liliana only read fiction when someone else suggested it was a good book or if it might have some potentially useful knowledge to incorporate into her other studies or to help a friend. Like Lord of the Rings for the mythril, or Howl's Moving Castle and the Enchanted Forest Chronicles to know more abour their magic door.

Then she remembered. Tae Kwan Do's a martial art, right? I think Trel's mother, Unisoar, has a blackbelt in that. I've not seen her do it though. She normally just picks up Theron to play.

But she did not voice any of this, gold tipped red ears pressing worriedly against her face & her body posture pulling into herself. "I like to read..." She started defensively. Followed by a whispered "Yes."

She looked misserable, or near it. Endless had said she needed to do something beside study her potions... some time for her. So she had started reading alchemy books. Liliana made a soundless whimper as she realized that was studying too, in its own way. And of course, Edward was right about learning through experiences. It was the difference between practice and theory.

But she almost cheered hearing Edward's laugh & subsequent tale. "Really? Eididic (sp) or just the photographic. Myr says Trel could have an eididic memory if she's let herself. That it's Trel's recall that's flawed."

Then out of nowhere from where her train of thought seemed to have gone added. "I remind you of her? I don't have a photographic memory. Not like that." She had a good memory and always seemed to remember after only a little thought in which book she had read about a certain potion or concept. "Was she your best friend too?"

At least they seemed to be off the topic of her getting out and seeing the world. Liliana hoped.

Edward was a little too easily distracted sometimes, and thus he continued on the tangent. He laughed again, and shook his head. "Naw... she was more Winry's friend than mine, although she did help me out a couple times. Like when the state library burned down, she was able to make copies of many of the official books and records that were housed there. She'd read everything in that library, but because of that, she didn't get out much either." ... Or maybe not. So much for the whole being distracted thing.

"I'm not going to force you into something you don't want to do, Lil... its just a friendly suggestion. You'd probably feel better if you got some exercise and actually walked places instead of... doing whatever it is you do... apparate and floating and stuff. You need to keep your body in good shape so that your mind can be at its best, too." That was pretty much the concept behind his teacher's words. Edward always felt at his best when he was in top shape. He cared about her, and Ed wanted Liliana to take care of herself. It didn't mean she had to stop reading, but getting out and about would be good for her too. After all, he too liked to study his alchemy books.

After all.. what kind of friend would he be if he didn't try to help her improve her life? Shouldn't he point out things like that? They only get to live once... or well... so he thought. He was given a second chance it seemed.

"Wow..." Liliana breathed in awe, green eyes sparkling at the thought of someone having read so many books and then being able to copy them all. The ears that had lifted at that happy idea slumped, her eyes dimming. "But... what should I do?" Her voice sounded small & a little afraid. "I go on walks with Daddy sometimes. And I fly... every once in a while... and then Hemi..."

Crimson head glanced around worriedly as if saying her baby brother's name might make him magically appear. Which was possible, wizard that he was. Not seeing him Liliana relaxed again.

"A friend of Winry? She was the one who worked on your automail, wasn't she?"

Yea. Maybe she could get away from that topic afterall. It would ot be so bad... if Lily had anything physical that caught her interest.
