As most o' you know, I originally intended this to be a Star Wars guild. After consideration, however, I went to being general sci-fi oriented.
Now, with that said, I have considered the possibility of also having general fantasy discusson here, so we can also talk about wizard, dragons, faeries and other groovy things here. ^_^

In the sense that the theme of " magic " can be considered Medieval sci-fi, it'd fit in just fine, IMO.

I'm all about the happy intersection of magic and science. One of my favorite book series is the Adept series by Piers Anthony, though the Incarnations of Immortality is much better and also merges the two fantastical realms!

A thought occurs.
In SW, isn't the Force considered magic? I mean, when you get down to it, that's what it is, magic, only given a specific name and treated differently.

Considered a force that binds and holds the universe together and flows through everyone, the Force could be viewed as something akin to magic. However with a lack of spells or incantations it would not be similar to what is traditionally seen as magic. It just depends on what genre or author you are talking about as to whether that is close.
Besides both science fiction and fantasy are about people in unusual circumstances overcoming some nefarious obstacle. There is usually some fantastical way that the characters employ in overcoming that obstacle ... it's just a matter of whether they are in a future setting or a medieval setting.

A bit late since it's already added, but it's still something to consider during a debate on this kinda thing:
In Sci-fi, it usually consists of things beyond modern technology and understanding, and other beings, phenomena, and anomalies that don't truly exist. The thing is, there's always a scientific explaination, but only because the people in the sci-fi understand it all.
In Medieval fantasy, magic, dragons, fairies, etc. fall into the same category. They are things that are beyond realistic means. It's essentially identical to sci-fi with a simple difference: In the dark ages, they didn't have a concept of science, at least nothing like what would be consider real science by today's standards, so they don't have scientific explainations or as thorough an understanding of those things.

I don't consider it magic. More of a psychic conection between the beings and the universe. Either way, it is fantasy like.
