Could someone explain to me why a woman's "bodily intregity" is sacred and all-encompassing and overrules all other considerations, even to the point of completely destroying another person's bodily integrity, to the point of death? When did society reach the point that instead of rejoicing at being pregnant, women now consider their baby to be their mortal enemy?

i don't know
from what i understand of the argument, every time i speak to a woman i violate her bodily integrity as i cause her eardrums to vibrate and set off a chain of events that cause her to use energy and resources, all of which she did not 'choose' to do.
therefore, every time someone talks, they should die.

Heheh, good analogy. You know what really irks me? Every time they start ranting about the baby stealing their nutrients! They act like they're starving to death or something. In Africa, I could accept this as a valid concern. But in America? Not just no, but hell no.

If a woman doesn't want another person inside of her, why did she allow HIM inside of her the make her pregnant in the first place?

divineseraph If a woman doesn't want another person inside of her, why did she allow HIM inside of her the make her pregnant in the first place? Because that was different! That was for PLEASURE. It didn't require any sort of sacrifice or responsibility on her part. On a side note: I feel so special! Someone PMed (which I believe stands for Private Message, correct me if I'm wrong) me wanting to "discuss" this thread (ie, talk me over to her side rolleyes ) and when I made my feelings on this matter clear, she started a thread of the PM messages over on the other guild. I would post the entire conversation here also, but I'm not going to invade her privacy in that fashion.

If she namedropped you, then, report her and she'll have to remove all references to your name. (For that matter, I edited the namedrops out of your post, and divine's).
How did the fetus become the enemy? Back before I was born, before you were born, probably even before my parents were born, a bunch of men convinced feminists that the fetus is the enemy. Family is the enemy. Anything that would make a woman put herself aside for someone else is the enemy to women's rights. We need equal rights, and the only way to do that is make everyone who might possibly stand in our way an enemy.
Women just aren't strong enough to do things without killing their offspring, I suppose? That sure makes me feel confident in my abilities. We all know, that in order to be as good as men, women need to be able to kill their offspring.
As for how bodily integrity trumps all? Matter of opinion and priorities.
Heh, just read the thread. It's really kinda funny. You'd think that someone who compares us to the KKK would realize why we wouldn't exactly embrace any reaching out from her, but I suppose not. Oh well, if people want to keep claiming "enlightened" highground, let them. The smug, "I'm so much better than they are and I'm just trying to help but those poor stupid little lifers are so mean and closed-minded" attitude is very telling.

Thanks for the editing, I'll keep that in mind next time. As for women and competence, why is it so many women of my mother's generation managed to achieve both family AND job/career and balance the two? Are women today lesser than previous generations?

Tiger of the Fire No, I think its more along the lines of this whole generation (not just woman) have not so much become lesser, but lazier. QFMFT! Edit: After reading the OPs post, I laughed quite hard. I cannot fathom how the logic from equates a simple no to insulting a whole movement. Simply amazing.

Wait wait wait. Okay, when some one here drops a name for theit guild, its a perfectly reasonable reaction to be offended and talk to the captain in order to have the name removed form our guild. Yet, when they name drop, and we do the same thing, we're whiny?
You were right Mira, is does give you a satisfacotry tingly feeling.

Don't you know we're all just a bunch of whiners because *gasp* we dare to believe that human life is sacred and shouldn't be ended just for someone's selfish convenience? BTW, I love the way that a whole guild has missed the point that this brouhaha started over the posting of PMs, not an open discussion. I was under this mistaken impression that PM stood for private message. Silly me. That said, there was nothing I said in the PMs that I'm ashamed of or would retract.

C'mon Isis, I expected better of you... Didn't you know that choicers can bend definitions and meanins of words at will? Things like "Human" and "Parasite" and "Vegetable".

LOL, you're quite right. I forgot about that. The fetus is just a parasite until, oh let's say seven months (though it's getting earlier all the time), then suddenly, magically, it's a BABY! Unless of course it was wanted from the beginning. I STILL want to see a pro-choicer walk up to a pregnant woman and say "Has your fetus kicked yet?"
