May 5th fell on the Island of Doctor Moreau, and it was a quiet, slow Saturday. Inside the Cafeteria, much to the annoyance of Delia, was a different story. The poor woman had been working all morning, thanks to the black-mail of a certain pudgy bird man. While she had worked in the kitchen, however, Marshall had taken it upon himself to do the decorations.
The Cafeteria was decked out to look like some sort of cheap Mexican diner, probably in honor of Cinco de Mayo. There was a large array of Mexican dishes set up in a buffet style, with a fish-shaped cake at the end of the table.
"Okay...Erm...Am I forgetting any thing..." the Birthday boy murmured to himself, looking over every thing for the twelfth time.
((This is a free-posting RP, like the Construction Site or the Halloween event. While Marshall had invited specific people to come, any one can drop in!))

Gaius poked his large head in the door, checking to see if anyone else had arrived yet. Spotting his good friend, Gaius's grin widened and he walked over to the birthday boy.
"Hey there, twerp! Looks like you've got quite the shindig here!" he said, his tone playful as he bopped Marshall lightly on the shoulder. The other arm was wrapped around a package wrapped in brown paper - too neatly for Gaius to have done. It was probably something ordered...

"Hey! Don't call me twerp!" Marshall laughed, glad to see that his long-necked friend actually showed up. Considering how the last birthday the two attended went, that is.
"I'm glad that you came. And don't worry, I didn't cook any of this so you won't like...Die if you eat any thing!" Marshall said, practically beaming with child-like pride. It was hard for any one to believe that he was twenty two years of age today.
"...Whatcha got in the box?"

"Well what can I call you then?" Gaius asked, bopping him again. In honesty, Gaius had been apprehensive, remembering his own birthday. That'd been the start of his changes. But it was Marshall's birthday, how could he miss it?
Speaking of ages... "Just how old are you supposed to be, anyways?" The horse-man looked down at his beaked companion. It was good to see the guy so cheerful, though the tells were more in the upward turn of the corners of his mouth and his eyes. Penguins didn't have much teeth to flash, unlike horses. "Are you allowed to drink yet?"

Marshall's shoulders slumped, the idea of him being mistaken for some one younger going completely over his obviously empty head, "Gaius...I'm twenty two." he sighed, crossing his flipper arms.
"Honestly I know I'm not tall like you guys but c'mon!" Marshall said, not knowing that his height had NOTHING to do with it.

"Twenty-two? Holy cow..." Gaius shook his head. "That's only three years younger than me! When'd you get to be so old?"
He smirked at Marshall's height comment and shrugged. "Well, you have to admit it's hard to tell from your appearance either way... You're a lot rounder than you were when I first met you, ya know."

Marshall's beak, along with most area's covered by feathers, turned a bright shade of red from Gaius' rounder remark. "S-shaddap!" he said, in a new level of embarrassment.
"Like yer one to talk..." Marshall said, jabbing Gaius in his non existent gut, "At least I got an excuse for mine! You're just gettin' lazy in yey old age!" he said, obviously playing.

Gaius frowned, patting his belly with a hoof-hand and looking down at himself worried. He'd not been as active lately, but he thought he'd been doing better about walks and fresh air than when he'd been in the city... Was the caf food getting to him? Too many eggs and stolen sugar cubes?
"Is it really that bad?" he asked in a worried tone. Just to make sure, he set down the package on the table nearby and set about flexing his stomach muscles. "Does it look like I'm getting fat?"

Marshall blinked, kind of at a lost for words. Was Gaius honestly that dense? Oh well, might as well have some fun.
"Ye-ep. Totally pudgy. Before ya know it you'll have a spare tire beer gut and any thing..." Marshall said, trying not to giggle, and failing miserably. Before he knew it, he was doubled over laughing. "Yeeessh Gaius! Can't take a joke much, can ya?" he laughed, before looking at the box Gaius sat down.
"So, whatcha got there?" he asked again.

He was worried for a moment, at least until the penguin broke into a fit of laughter at his expense. Gaius's face darkened into a glower as his ears laid back flat. "Bah! I should know better than to listen to you," he grumbled, straightening his shirt back in place.
Following Marshall's gaze, Gaius picked up the box, turning around to the penguin as if to hand it over, but instead he lifted it back over his own head, or at least as far as he could reach considering the length of his neck and head placement...
"What, this?" Gaius asked innocently. "Oh, it's just a little something... buuut you did call me fat. I'm wondering if maybe I should return it..."

"Hey!" Marshall said, reaching for it to no avail, "You called me fat first! Its only fair! C'mon! Give it!" he said, still reaching for it, looking a little more comical than he probably intended.

Gaius laughed, but he couldn't taunt his friend for long. Lowering his arm, Gaius handed over the brown-wrapped package.
"I couldn't really think of anything to make for you, so... well, I had to go through the labs. But still, I figured it was worth it for your birthday..." he shrugged sheepishly and grinned.

Marshall took it, smiling, "Y'know you didn't have to get me any thing...I'm just glad you came to my birthday." he said honestly, before ripping the plain brown paper off of the box.

Gaius grinned. "Hey, you expected any differently from me?"
Inside the brown paper was a plain white box, which when opened revealed stylish hand motorized fan, all black and silver. It looked like the kind of thing you'd find in one of the magazines they have on airlines where everything's too expensive to actually buy. It could fold up for compact storage, and had multiple settings operated by a slider. AND it was chargeable, rather than running on batteries.

Marshall looked down at the black and silver fan, gently taking it out of the box. It was fancy, really fancy, and probably perfect for extra hot days on the island. Marshall looked up at Gaius, smiling, before putting it back in its box for safety reasons, right before he threw his arms around Gaius in a patented Penguin hug.
"Thank you! Its perfect!" Marshall exclaimed.
