Round green orbs slowly opened to the sound of singing birds nearby. It was bright outside, and everything was covered in this white powdery substance. It was also very cold. Crossing her arms tightly over her torso, the little pygmy slowly got up and peeked her head out from her shelter underneath some rocks, curious to get a look at the world about her. It's all so big! she thought to herself, eyes widening in wonder. Was she alone in it though?

 Bounding through the snow, the small wolfpygmy clapped his hands at the lightly falling flakes of snow. Though walking in the body of a child, Jasper's eyes were those of an adult, experience in his gaze. He couldn't deny his playful side though, sticking out his tongue every once in a while to catch a taste of snow.
He stopped short suddenly, ears perked. Was that another spirit nearby? He looked around, clutching his scarf sweater in his hands eagerly. All he saw though were the barren trees and a cluster of rock and white snow.

The little female in contrast was every much the child that she appeared to be. At a cold gust of wind she had ducked back into her small shelter, shivering just the slightest bit. After a moment though she sensed another presence nearby, and curiosity got the better of her once more. She tentatively stuck her head back out and spotted the golden wolf pygmy not too far from where she was. A small smile crept upon her face. Company! The little female padded out into the open now, her tail swishing lightly behind her as she gave the other a curious look. "Who are you?"

There! He could sense the spirit again! He spun around right as the voice sounded behind him. He looked her over before speaking. She was definitely new, and she was at least smiling. He smiled openly in return. "I'm Jasper." He trotted over closer to the girl. "What's your name, little one?" He asked, 'little one' refering to the girl's spirit age.

"My name is..." she had to pause for a moment to mull over the question. What was her name? Her memories were a bit blurry... Well, if she couldn't remember one, then she'd simply have to make one up! "Katlyn," she decided, smiling at the wolf again. It was just then that she noticed that Jasper wasn't wearing anything besides a scarf. "Aren't you cold?" she asked, clutching her arms close again. He made her cold just looking at him!

"Katlyn. That's very nice." He said with a nod. He blinked a moment before looking down at himself. He chuckled and waved his hand. Not really. There's a bit of a chill, but I've got enough energy to keep me warm enough during the day. I do have a couple sweaters for when it gets colder though." He reached forward, petting Katlyn's parka. "You look cozy in this. But, how do you grip the ground with those booties there?" He asked, pointing to her paws.

"Hm?" Katlyn looked down at her paws where he gestured and blinked. "I... um... hm..." She experimentally raised and lowered her paws a couple of times, analyzing the feel of the snow under them. "I dunno. They're not really that slippery though. Wanna try one?" She held up a front paw, offering the bootie to him to try out. "They keep you dry and warm."

Jasper watched the experiment closely, though held up his hands when offered the boot. "No, I couldn't. I don't want to tear up such nice boots. My claws don't retract like yours do." He held up his own leg to show his thick claws sticking out.
A breeze started to pick up, forcing Jasper's bangs into his eyes. He giggled and pushed them back under his headband. "Wanna head to where the trees are thicker? It'll be a little warmer without the wind."

Katlyn watched with interest as Jasper showed her his own claws. She wondered why hers could retract and his couldn't, but before she could ask the wolf had made the suggestion of moving to a more thickly wooded area. "Sure!" she agreed happily, more than willing to get out of the way of the wind.
As the two bounded onward, green eyes continued to search the area about them, taking in all that they could. "Do you wander by yourself?" she asked, wondering what the male might do around here for fun.

Jasper tilted his head, scooping up a handful of snow and rolling it in his hands into a ball. "Not really. I have a friend like us but he lives in the water." He chuckled. "He's probably hiding deeper in the waters for the winter though. We might find him at one of the lakes, but I'm not sure. It's been at least a week since I saw him last."
He looked back the way they had come, then at the cattaur. "So how long were you hiding under those rocks?"

"Um... I'm not sure," Katlyn answered honestly, a slight frown crossing her face. "My memory's a little fuzzy right now... What're you doing with the white stuff?" She asked curiously, eyes wide. The cattaur had found it fascinating that the wolf had a friend who lived in a lake, but it seemed that she was just the slightest bit ADD at the moment.

Jasper nodded slowly in understanding. His friend in the lake had had no memory when he had been "born" either. He looked down at the snow in his hands and smiled. "I'm making a snowball. This white stuff all around us, it's called snow. Sometimes you can roll it into a ball like I am." He smiled. "You can eat it, though it's very cold. Or you can build little shapes out of it. Or, you can throw it." Holding up the snowball, Jasper chucked it at a nearby tree, the ball exploding in a puff of white, leaving an imprint on the trunk. "You can throw them at other taur, but they usually prefer a warning." He said with a chuckle. "They get mad if you don't say something first."

The cattaur broke into a gleeful grin as Jasper explained the varies uses of snow, and even showed her how to throw it. "Oooooh, I see. So, if I wanted to, I could do this?" As she was finishing her sentence, the cattaur had scooped up a big pile of snow and dropped it playfully onto the other's back end. Giving a small giggle, she picked up some more in her hand to look at it closely. "It's so pretty..."

Jasper yelped, laughing a he turned to brush the chilled snow off his back. "Yeah, something like that." He was about to grab up a handful to toss back at the cattaur, but Katlyn had already moved on to inspecting the snow. He didn't want to disturb her, so the ball stayed in his hands.
Finally, they reached the woods and he stretched out his arms. "That's better. The trees block the wind nicely."
