Welcome to the Nerion Fen, once the cradle of the Precursors whose ruins are scattered throughout Vorendia. Their cities used to tower in western Vorendia, though now there are only bubbling pools of waste and dying trees. The ruins are most common here, if you can make it to them, and are rumored to guard the oldest secrets of the Precursors...

[small campfire amongst the fens]

Impervius sat down, scheming. He was uncomfortable without the huge mana reserves of the academy ready to destroy anything that came into his path. After careful consideration, he decided that to return home he would need vast quantities of mana and multiple strong spellcasters, or to simply wait until the plane came back within reachable distance of the other worlds, if it ever did. Gathering his small vanguard, he informed them that these fens might contain some secret in the ruins, and sent a couple of spiritmongers and some skeletons on a scouting mission to their immediate vicinity. They return with nothing.

[Edge of the Fen]

Arkaine and his men had traveled doggedly into the night, still chasing the mysterious shine. As they moved farther west, the glowing got brighter and the ringing louder, until both disappeared altogether. When this happened, Arkaine dashed forward, as if to catch the retreating light once and for all, and almost sunk into the mire. Once he was out, he stood lookng at what he could see by the light of their torches, and it wasn't much. He gave orders to bivouac for the night, "Back up a bit, onto firmer ground for camp. And double watch tonight." Whatever the bright thing had been, it had come this way for a reason, and he intended to find out why.

[reasonably deep into the fens]

Nothing will be won by simply staying still in one place, so impervius decides to move through the fens. After many hours of travel, they see what appears to be a ruined abbey. Entering into the abbey, a hail of bats descends on impervius and his small vanguard. The bats, however, are easy prey for the spiritmongers and impervius's slicing blades, and soon all that remains of the swarm are bodies on the ground, some rapidly healing cuts on the bodies of the spiritmongers, and the souls, trapped inside the bodies of the lumbering beasts. Impervius, empowered by the lifelink from the warhammer, and having absorbed some black mana from the swamps and the deceased bats, summons a few wraiths from the depths of the fens. Checking the moldering abbey records, it seems that there is the body of a creature of considerable power buried deep into the fens, but the scrolls are unclear as to the exact whereabouts of it's location. Impervius, thinking that this monstrosity would do well if it was reanimated into his service, ponders the issue, and encamps in the abbey's cells. During the night, he discovers a legend of some powerful artifacts hidden somewhere in the Talus range, deep in the goblin stronghold, but wary of the truthfullness of legends, as yet takes no action.

[edge of the fen]

Vaaxx stood near a half rotten tree watching the people she had seen earlier. She, a tall strange phyrexian made from poison, random rotten things, and of course... metal blended in quite well to the swampy terrain. Se had seen others go by before walking right past her. They were chasing some weird light thing and when it was gone vaaxx sighed and slowly got up still hoping to stay in disguise and moved on, slowly, hoping to not be seen and wanting to know what these men were up to.

[Edge of the Fen]

Arkaine was more than slightly on edge. He had bolted upright near dawn, instinctively grabbing his swords. He jumped up, one blade held staight out in front of him, the other reared back ready for a stronger thrust. The archers who had been on watch bolted up, as well, nocking arrows and looking for the danger. After a few tense moments, Arkaine relaxed. There had definitely been something here, but it was gone now. As the sun peeked over the horizon, he roused his men. He prepared for the day, donning his armor after a quick, and spartan, breakfast. They would see what this mire hid in the light of day.

[edge of the fen]

Vaaxx still hid way back in the trees, watching these men move about getting ready to move on. She leaned on the trunk of a particular tree and looked past it. "Does it really take so long for a man to get ready for the day" she said silently to herself and silently walked, her red cloak dragging behind her rustling the leaves. She crouched behind a fallen tree and still watched them move. She crept behind where they were in plain sight for just a few minutes before ducking behind another tree. "hmmm.."

[Somewhere in the Fen]

As Arkaine and his men moved throught the swamp, he was as high-strung as he had been that morning. Whatever the presence he had felt was still nearby, and it wasn't good. He reasoned that it wasn't the shining thing that he had seen earlier, but something dark, rotten, evil. A shadow passed by behind them, causing Arakine to grab the hilts of his blades in their cross-sheathes. "Everybody, stay alert," he whispered. "Don't draw arms, but be ready to at a moment's notice." There was no point in letting the thing know they were ready for it.

At this time, they came upon a stairway set into the ground. Whatever building it had belonged to was long since gone, but there were still a few bricks lying around. Examination of etchings on the walls of the stair revealed that it was probably a religious building of some sort, maybe a monastery or temple. Whatever it was, it could hold some clue to this mysterious plane, and Arkaine led the way down into the darkness, with his soldiers, the archers holding torches, following him.

[somewhere in fen]

vaaxx still kept close too the men waiting for a time to lash out, her claws twitched some and she blinked her glowing orange eyes seeming to blink out for a minute. she walked forward following to this...what was it..an old building? "hmm" she thought again and followed them down

[abbey cellar]

she now kept close almost 3 feet away from one of the men, she reached out and silently grabbed him she smiled showing a mouthful of sharp jagged teeth and tried to bite him ignoring the leader and the others.

All that could be heard when the thing attacked was a small clink as the monster's sharp teeth pierced the soldier's armor and a muffled groan and thud as the soldier fell unconscious and slumped into the monster. Still, this was all Arkaine needed. He heard his man go down and instantly had his swords out, crackling with the energy etched into them by their creator. He gave a mighty Battle Cry and lunged at the attacker, swinging ferociously, while his men drew their blades and encircled the thing. One archer grabbed a Reviving Dose of medecine from his pack and immediately went to minister to the downed soldier. He would live, but was certainly out for this fight.

[abbey cellar]

vaaxx growled as the men encircled her. she eyes every one of them before lashing out at the leader releasing an unholy hiss she lunged, dark energies forming on the tips of her claws along with poisons of all sorts of kinds.....some caused sleep others caused death, others merely cause the body to itch constantly. she planted her feet and swung as hard as possible

(oh and by the way im not one of those picky roleplayers who get mad and quit if someone hurts there character so do whatever as long as you don't kill her or do anything childish or pervy)

[outside the abby]
Rizacrad had felt the powers combine here and came to investigate. When he arrived he heard the sounds of battle coming from the cellar. When he went down he stayed in the shadows making him almost invisible because of his cloak and watched the scene that was unfolding. What he saw was what appeared to be a small battalion of soldiers lead by one of the planeswalkers surrounding another one of the planeswalkers. "This could be useful to me" e thought hoping to learn what he could about these other planeswalkers. He stood back in the shadows and waited to see what was to become of this.

Distracted momentarily by another powerful magical presence nearby, Arkaine failed to dodge the thing's attack, and stumbled awkwardly when the slash hit. However, his armor was thick, and the set of deep gouges in the side had not penetrated; the thick wurm plating had served its purpose. "Damn!" he cursed, then remembered that there was, hopefully, another person somewhere in the shadows. "Whoever you are, you mind helping out!?" He didn't wait for a response to spin around and put his full weight into a strike. The remaining three Sentinels also closed in, ready to swing if they got the opportunity. As Arkaine's swords hissed through the air, it seemed as if they felt the strike coming and were only too eager to greet the enemy's innards.

vaaxx jumped back stumbling awfully close to the men behind her as the Arkaine's slash tore open the front of her robe revealing her phyrexian appearance: metal...rotten flesh. she only growled and swung again claws flashing in the dim light. she too felt the magical being outside. "help and you die too" she hissed. anger in her orange eyes as she tore off the hood of her already useless cloak.
