My cusion who is almost 17 got his girlfriend pregnant, and she was 17 and a half at the time. Now she has had the baby and everything like that, two weeks early, but I was weirded out at the fact that he is just a kid and everyone was over the moon with it that he was having a kid.
Now I was told that if I had a kid at the age I am now (20 this month) that I would never be spoken to again by my nan, and she is over the moon with him having a kid.
I'm lost!!!!
At least his girlfriend had a healthy baby boy.

A lot of times in situations like that, the family will say that they would disown the kid if they get pregnant. However, when it actually happens, they kind of change their mind. People get excited about a baby sometimes even if the circumstances aren't exactly ideal.
Everyone is different though. Some families say they would disown the kid if they got pregnant, and when they do get pregnant, the family really does disown them.

You love me don't ya? Heh, it's just weird. My nan has never liked me that much since I was able to speak my mind, I know my mum and dad would be happy for me, and I hope that if me and my boyfriend stay together, within the next year or so we can start tying for one of our own.
He will probably change his mind though lol!

Of course. blaugh
I think if I got pregnant as a teen, my mother would have been ok with it, but I do not think my father would. I think my grandparents would be ok too. Two of my cousins were teen mothers, and my grammy was fine with that. I think my father would have been really angry if I got pregnant during college and dropped out or something like that, since he was the one paying for it. xp

It's always different when you're talking about the guy who got some girl pregnant than a girl who gets pregnant.
Remember, the guy didn't have to deal with the actual pregnancy, and in many cases, men are seen as "virile" and "healthy" for "sowing his seed", even if it's really not a good time for him to be doing so. On the other hand the woman who actually shows the signs of pregnancy gets branded with the "slut" sign for all to laugh at.
Sadly, life is not fair. But then again, if you decide to have kids, chances are, SOMEONE is going to have a problem with it (especially if you let your kids go crazy at department stores and scream and wail all over the place). So, really, do what makes you happy, and what is within your means.

I have a similar issue. My parents, especially my mom, act like dropping out of university should I get pregnant would automatically mean I would NEVER go back, NEVER do anything with myself, etc. God forbid I ever mention I'd like to just be a stay at home mom. talk2hand She'd kill me.
At this point in time, I think the only thing holding me back from getting pregnant (aside from you know, not having a boyfriend xp ) is finances. I -could- pull it off, especially with help from my boyfriend/partner, but logic tells me my child deserves a life better than living paycheck to paycheck, or living in my parents' house while they pay for my bills, etc.
But I'm hoping to find someone in the next year or two who's my age, maybe a little older, and is interested in having kids. ninja I'll have to see how things go.
