Well Holland and the others mentioned at the end (I forget if this part was cut from the AS version...I'm pretty sure it was there) that Renton had 'left the nest', so I don't think he'd return to the Gekko unless he had a real reason to.
I think he'd at least try to take Eureka and go to Bellforest to live with their children happily.
At the same time though, Nirvash told them to help the people of the planet find hope, so I don't think all the adventures are over quite yet.....
Also, I'm adding a spoilers warning.

Also, I'm adding a spoilers warning. just so you know you are right they did say that in the ending yet this is what's puzzeling?? why didn't they just show renton and eureka leaving for the gekko or grandpas house they just had them in the woods somewhare *suspecious*?? mrgreen mrgreen

Also, they probably had several reasons. There are two things that could've happened.
One, Renton and Eureka return after one year away. So they didn't have a chance to really go anywhere if they'd JUST landed.
Second, they could be already traveling to do what Nirvash said. The REAL puzzling thing was when Axel said Renton was the only family member that "came back", when I don't recall him returning to Bellforest during the series.
What actually happened is something only the writers know.

She has issues with people that can't type well.
Anyways... I think what Axel meant was that he came back in a way through Maurice, Maeter, and Linck because he says "I know have three lovely great-grandchildren." It might also be that somehow he knows Renton is somewhere on the planet while Adrock and Diane are in the other dimension the scubs and half the world's population went to.
That ending definately seems to be setting up something. It's an ending, and yet it just seems to be an ending to the beginning, if you know what I mean.
If all those rumors going around hold true, there will be something more with this series.
I like what Kayako suggested, about Renton and Eureka going about to give the world. I'm starting to think that is what they're doing.

Here's a pretty clear pictures. You can actually see the outline of Renton's hood! biggrin  When watching two different videos of episode 50 on YouTube, I just couldn't make out the silhouettes. It wasn't until this picture that I could see them. razz

Actually, I think you people need to accept the fact that there might not be anything else! Let's face that it was a nigh perfect ending. There were even subtle hints that the series could and would not continue.
You also have to understand that the series has been done in japan for almost a year. I'll haft to admit that I was satisfied with the end. It was the potential possibilities of what could happen after that kept me a fan for so long. Even now it's only my Fic that drives me along with the manga.
But, if you do want to know what happens next. Go and read my fan-fic : D! (Which has been momentarily paused due to my procrastination, laziness, school, and all out annoyance at this new character.
