It was the flicker of a tussled mane that had first gotten the brindled buckskin's attention, and later the movement of fairly defined muscles. It was unquestionable and undeniable to most any Katelinenuck stallion, and this most assuredly included Ka. In a bout of hooves and fresh words, he made his intentions clear, as did the other. In swirls of red dust, a fury of hooves, and possibly the gazes of the other guards, the two stallions got into a tangle of a mess.

It was quite some time till the encounter had come to end, and the curious gazes once more fell upon they're duty. It was on his parting way that Ka took a single glance over his shoulder, morbid sea green eyes on the other less fortunate stallion that had a slight limp in his walk. All was good now, he decided, and once more he turned to leave. It was a weekly, almost daily ritual for the prince, as he found his frustrations rising with every passing hour the sun shone upon his misfortune. Yes, that was it, his misfortune of losing his future position to that sibling of his. Well, taking it out on the guards, with they're full cooperation of course, was much better then the alternative that lingered at the back of his mind.

It wasn't easy to tell from his lax gait, furrowed in a small linger of nothing purposeful, that he had those kinds of things on his mind. Flicking his head in a small jerk, he removed stray strands of mane from his vision. Seeming calm, it was as if nothing had happened in the first place.

Yi smiled calmly as she observed, for not the first tiem, her brothers little pass time. She contained a laugh. How childish! From her hiding spot she moved, until she was on a path to intercept her elder brother. Oh he was pathetic. Somone who repeatedly did such, how could he even think one day he could have ruled? But he could not...and she loved to rub it into his face.

Yes, she was the cause of the stallion's frustraion. Kind to the herd, stern when needed, but troublesom to her family, Yi was an odd one. And yet she made no point of hideing the reason why her brother hated her so. She wuld one day be the ruler of the herd and he could do nothing about it.

Poor Poor Ka, she thought. all alone, all alone and useless. "Good day dear brother." she spoke softly, her small, little smile shone on her face. To any other it was the look of a lovign younger sister. But to her brother, she kenw, it was a smug smile that said: I'm better then you, I will be queen...and you can't do a thing about it.

Focusing on the shifting of his slender hooves, the stallion hadn't particularly been focusing on much except for his own thoughts, so it had come as a slight surprise when his path was intercepted. At first he had an instinctive reaction, which consisted of a nice skirt to the side and his muzzle snaking out towards the figure in an audiable snort. Possibly that could have been considered a harsh reaction, but not for one that had recently come out of a certain mindset. Certainly, to any who would have seen the earlier specticle, would have considered this with his recent action. He was one those battle-hugry stallions after all.

Flicking his gaze upwards and about to apolize, a certain voice sent a flicker of realization through his mind. Well, no need to apologize now. "Evenin little princess", the buckskin replied, keeping certain tones out of his voice, but not particularly a friendly one either. It was an oddity really, how he happened to put up with this day and day out. Raising his head he took a glance around them, before returning a mild gaze back to the mare. "And here without any oogling citizens I see, how considerate." Quite blantly, he suspected everyone knew how the prince felt about his sister, so there was no need to hide it. The only exception to this of course, was in the presence of their mother, the stallion considered.

Oogling citizens? The thought amused her. "ah, but my dear elder brother, why would i want to bring them along? Its not as if i am talking to anyoen importent." she said with a smirk. "I only liek them around when it shows that i have power...showing off my...less then decent brother is only going to, oh how can i put this, weaken their love for their dear future ruler...which o course is who? oh thats right, me." she smiled sickingly sweet.

"But of course, i only wished to see how my brother was. I am not heartless after all. How have you been, sweet brother of mine?" she asked, tilting her head. Her wings spred a little, almost a challange. SHe knew, as did the herd, that the two did not get along, that the prince was jelous of the princess. And she knew should she be hurt...any of those who were vary loyal to her...would not be happy with him. At least, she hoped her brother thought this.

"But of course, just fine Princess", he mused quietly, keeping his morbid sea green eyes upon her. It seemed like the tangle with the stallion earlier wasn't going to be the only challenge he answered today. It was while he took in her stance, that the stallion raised his own head to be above hers, reaching 16 hands at the shoulder, it was quite an easy feat to be done. He didn't particularly enjoy her attempts to annoy and humilate him, but he wasn't going to let her ascend to a personal rank above him either. With quick of his head in a curious tilt, he stepped forward and towards, closing the comfortable distance between them. "So if I do have this straight, and I believe I may, the little princess keeps her toys around to show off like a childish foal? he spoke with an idle flick of his tail, and gazed at the land that was there home. "And to think, I truely believed you to have a heart of gold to along with that cute... little... smile of your's," he continued in a tone that dripped with venom, and pronouced those last couple of words so they stuck out a bit more. His thoughts were not ones that were stable to begin with; but surely the little princess had heard of the rumors. Ka once again quirked his muzzle in her direction, always keeping his head just right above her own.

Try as she might, her brother was larger then her...and that did scare her, now that she realized she was all alone with him. Stupid mistake. "No, i have a heart. I DO care about the citizens, i just didn't want their standards of me to lower because i was talkign to somthing as cheap as you. Honestly, could you imagine the revolt? It would be horrible...much the way it might be if you did somthing foolish, my dear brother." She was pushing it, she knew she was, and she was just going to get stupider. She reached out, lightly, and, lifting her head, lightly bumped her muzzle against his cheek. She nuzzled him! It was beife, it was light, but it was a small show of sisterly affection.

The stallion had a certain feel of how the situation was at the moment, he knew there were no others around, he knew the guards wouldn't get here in time, and he knew the thoughts that lingered in the back of his mind like a hard jab in the ribs. The princess, his little sister, not only the source of his frustration but the antagonizer who kept bringing it up and pushing his morals so far away from his reach. Ka had stopped his advance though when he thought he was close enough, and had kept his head up high in a brotherly cruelty, much like holding a toy way above a foal's reach.

However, it was her words that caught him and got him away from his own ponderings, and it was as Ka was about to respond in kind, that something rather odd kept him from doing so. Unsure the buckskin turned his muzzle to face the other direction of her, a small grunt escaping his throat that could have been the equivalant of clearing one's throat. The stallion honestly couldn't remember something like that, and even if he did he couldn't remember how he use to respond... before he had found out about the whole situation. Confusion is was wrecked his brain, from that day on it had been there. Confusion on what to do now that he was replaced. Why hadn't he just ignored the gesture and continued trying to unnerve her? Perhaps there was a small bit, in that sea of angst he held, that still held some brotherly recognition.

With a brief moment or so past, he returned his gaze back to Yi, and side stepped to give them a little more room; his face considering. "Prove it", he spoke simply and without the dripping tone he normally used with her. "Prove you have a heart for the herd... like a queen should," he finished, not entirely wanting to leave himself open from the reaction he had. In a heavy movement the stallion had turned on his heels, facing in a direction almost adjacent to Yi's and walked forward, ahead of her. By now, Ka had regained most of his composure, and quirked his muzzle back in her direction; an invitation to walk with him.

Yi blinked and picked up her step, hurring to walk beside him. "And how do i do that?" she asked, keeping pace with him. She would no fall behind. It was accually and honest question. "I speak with the members, i am kind to them unless they cause a problem in front of me. I'd like to think i can get them to all get along. I don't allow one to bother another jala, herd member or not. So how do you prepose i prove it?" she asked. "All i have been trying to do is prove i am a queen at heart, so mother will finalyl let me have it."

The stallion kept his pace at a steady walk, his head still held high, but it bobbed with each step. With her question though, he directed his gaze back down to her and gave a tiny snort, still trying to keep his moods in check, from one extreme to another, and then a whole nother one that had been exposed just recently. "Individuals my dear, are fine and dandy, but it is decision making on a wide-scale that has my attention" he explained as his hooves lightly scrapped the red earth below. The purpose of this walk, was little more then to allow his muscles a chance to cool down, and keep his body busy with doing something. That normally kept his away from his lingering thoughts, and so was the reason for his fighting of stallions. It was simply something to do to releive him of stress of the mind. "Have you heard the rumors awhile back about of the Bae herd that was supposidly spotted?" How Ka knew this, was anyone's guess, but he learned many things easily with his dealings of the guards.

Yi flicked her ears in thought. Bae herd? Had she heard anything about them? "A little, only enough to know they are their. But why should i dwel much on that. After all its not as if I would go there myself and deal with them. THats a job for you and a group of soldiers." she said. Desision making? What was he getting at? That she was to undesisive, or to naive, or just to stupid? Either way she didn't like it.

"But if you think you can call me out about not knowing of somthing, you are mistaken. I know, everything, about what is going on. I listen. Do you forget i want mother to pass the crown to me as soon as possible. Why would i be ignorent of anything said if i wanted to be queen asap?"

A near groan escaped the stallion throat as he turned a sideways glance to the mare's disturbing presence. "I have not forgotten", he reminded her with a rough edge to his usually deep voice. It was her first question though that had annoyed him over much of everything else, well there was one thing he took with a bit of an ironic smirk, but that was it. 'Him and a group of soldiers'? That actually sounded like something he wanted to do right now, something to help with his other ambition, for surely, the crown was lost to Yi no matter how much he wanted to deny it. "Just knowing about it doesn't solve anything. I wanted you to prove it remember?" he spoke again, tieing back his patience once more to get at what he was talking about. "Lets say it was your decision, and based off what you know now, what would you, princess, do about it?" With a quirk of his head he added rather smoothly. "Keep in mind, your decision affects the lives of the herd, the soldiers if you plan to the use them, and their families", it hadn't been in his orginal plan to place a reminder to that kind of pressure, but his lingering thoughts drove him to do so. Yi taking the crown from him wasn't the only thing that had him wound up so tightly, it was, in fact, that he didn't believe she would be capable of such a position.

Then again, its not like he had much trust or respect in a little sister that was determined to be as childish as she said he was with almost every meeting they had. Flicking his ears in many which directions, the stallion kept his mind at bay for now, and focused on one thing. His other, more perminant goal that is. One day, he would gain control of the military power, one way or another. Yes, he would be quite pleased to do so, and to take such a position was much more likely then he had been dwelling on lately. Still, he figured, flicking his inside ear towards Yi, it would be good to know if the mare actually had a brain in that pretty little head of hers when it came to such a problem as the Bae herd.

Yi tilted her head. "What would i do about it?" the words ment to cause pressure fell on deaf ears as she was already thinking. What would she? Not an attack, no just out of the blue. It wouldn't be fair to anyone, and even if the bae were no where near as importent as the jala, they still should be left alone as long as they were not intruding. But what had she heard about them. "They were wanting to come into our land right? move in, as it were? Well...I'd arrange a confrence with them, or their leader at least...No sense killing them off, they might prove usefull in somthing, after all the bae arn't our main enemy, they just get in the way and waste effort and skilled soldiers on them. So...i'd attempt to reason with them and if they turned out stupider then the Ichsa then i'd order for a group of soldiers, i supoose, to drive them back, herd them away from us, relocate them. If absolutly nessesary i'd tell the soldiers to use whatever force in nessasary to ensure they are removed from threat." she said, speaking easily, growing more confident as the plan formed and fell from her lips.

Despite himself, Ka gave a brief bob of the head, but offered no critism on her detail. There were a few things that had him pondering though, for instance, if their leader had been the violent sort, would she still have conferanced with him? No doubt there would be guards involved though, so that would have kept the situation at bay. Such a lowly creature wouldn't dare try anything stupid with a band of strong Katilenuck stallion so nearby they would cut him to shreads as soon as he merely twitched an unfriendly muscle in their Queen's direction. At least, Ka would if it was HIS queen; none other then their mother. Truely, he would perfer it if Savit kept the crown to herself, for he found his relation with her was and would ever be never-changing. "That works", Ka finally said a bit off-handishly when he remembered his sister was still by his side. Half-raising his feathered wings from his sides, the stallion gave a long stretch, ruffling the red dust that had settled on his coat from his fight before. With a sudden halt, and his muzzle pointed towards the skies, the stallion spoke in that deep tone of his. "I'm gonna break a good sweat before turning in for the night", was his only explanation as the stallion shifted his weight in another direction. He didn't quite invite Yi to come with him, but he didn't exactly tell her off either. Despite himself, he wouldn't mind beating her in a hoof-race around the territory, for few didn't know about the stallion's talent for speed. With a small smirk, he knew such a thing as getting Yi to come with him was a pipe dream.

"that works? only that works? no, good plan sister, or, that would do perfectly. just that works? passing by by the skin of my teeth." she snorted a little. As he spoke again, however, she kept by him, coping his movments. "your not getting ride of me that easily." she held her head high. "Just cause you think your so high and mighty means nothing. I bet ya i could beat you in a race. Hay! Lets race, you pick the ending line. We start from here, one lap on foot, the other in the air. How 'bout it? scared your little sister is faster then you?" Running, she knew her brother was better...but in the air, she wasn't a half bad flyer, if she did say so herself.

At that, the stallion gave a full-hearted snort, perhaps he should ignore Yi more often, for she tended to give him what he wanted then. Tossing a ruffled mane to the skies, Ka gave a little prance to his step, "Scared? You'll see in the midst of it; a race it is little sister." Of course, despite that rather brotherly tone, it was accompanied by a quirk of his muzzle in her direction, a curious little smirk making it way towards the corners of his lips. Now what a sight this would be, the prince and princess racing around like a bunch of little foals. Oh well, Ka didn't have anything on the line in the sense of an image, and he wasn't about to let Yi backout now even if she wanted to.

With a superfical bow at the neck, the stallion stepped aside in a rather pompus air and stated quite amusidly, "Ladies First. As for the ending line, we make full circle back to this spot." Drawing a line in the red dirt with a sharp hoof, Ka took his position next to his sister, and for what seemed like the first time, his muscles twitched in antcipation rather then annoyance while in her company. Oh he'd beat her, he'd dive head long into seriousness and beat her. He didn't quite take into account that such a thing might be viewed as play, but Ka was more then willing to partcipate.
