S~o, I'll be going to my very first liiive in June and I get to see Dir en grey and blah blah blah I'm excited.

However, I have no idea what I should wear, what I should bring [earplugs?], what my general conduct should be like, how easy it is to maybe meet new people, etc.
I'm pretty much a newbie at this whole thing. ;D

Assitance, por favor?

Act natural, don't dress in anything that people can hurt themselves on, don't wear EGL/EGA (personal request, don't mind me).

If it were me, I'd say to use Diru-related humor in conversations with concert-goers. I remember a quote from the Atlanta show (a quote that wasn't from me, but some guy I met there who I forget his name...)

"Remember--If it's four feet tall and angry, it must be Kyo!" ~Some guy in response to "Did Kyo just come out there? I couldn't tell."

I wore earplugs at my diru because it was a small venue, and because I want hearing when I get older.
I actually took them out for diru, and used them for the opening bands, because they were screaming freaking loud, and diru was smart enough to use volume control.
I"d bring them just in case <3

Oh, and as for clothes.. srsly, your gonna sweat like none other, so wear something fairly cool, that your comfortable in.

...Would it be lame to cosplay/semi-cosplay?
[Especially since it's not really Dir en grey's own tour? XD]

Cosplay is a bad idea, but for different reasons than lameness xd . When you're in a moshpit, your clothes get damaged pretty easily, and I'm assuming you don't want your hard work on cosplay to go to waste. 3nodding There was only one cosplayer at the NYC concert, and it was one of their more simple/crowd-friendly cosplays (ain't afraid to die Kaoru), and I heard her complaining about how her suit was wrecked after the concert. Wear something that's functional/NOT BLACK (it's a summer concert...and, well, it makes you stand out. Really, I was the only person that wasn't wearing black as far as I knew)/sexy (if you so please). Limit acessories to a bare minimum, preferably none at all. I had a choker and the Dir en grey wristband on, and the wristband got ripped off.

Oh, yes. Another very important detail for us femme fatales.....wear a sports bra. sweatdrop I can't stress that enough.

I see...no cosplay.
Got it.

The accessories part should be a problem, since I constantly lose them before I can wear them anywhere, anyway. D;

The not-black part might be a bit difficult, but I AM going clothes shopping soon...:3

Thank yoooou~

I am definitely going no black either. Frankly it is just not me and when I went to the FVT concert I wore my Zombie diru tee and all I saw was a sea of black across the crowd. I have no idea how you could tell anyone apaprt that way. Also, I have not been to a venue like the one I am going to, but I assume shoes that will stay on your feet during a mosh pit are recomended. I wore flip-flops to the last one, FVT, but there were actual seats and it was much more stadium then standing room only. And remember cotton is a very breathable fabric and it is your friend, use it.

...That one should go without saying, though. O__o;;

Yes it should, but some people don't get that, which is bad enough when you are just walking down the street, but far worse when you are in a small concert venue and packed in like sardines with hundreds of other people.

Eww. D;
My heart goes out to you.

Yoof. Quoted for truth.

OH. Another thing, if you have long hair, pull it back. I nearly suffocated because all the people in front of me had long hair that kept smothering my face...and secure it really really well. I got a rubber band in the face, that wasn't fun. D:

DO talk to people in the moshpit. They're typically really friendly and tend to help you out if you've got a problem....one really sweet guy I ran into who met and helped me out back at Otakon helped people get up (and helped yank people off of me) when a row of the moshpit came crashing down. I've even kept up with one of the girls I met after the concert from Ireland and got to "meet" (aka start chatting with) Danars of the hilarious J-rock comics fame.

Wear converse if you've got strong, pain-tolerant feet. I sacrificed fashion and wore my Merrils to the concert, probably one of the best decisions I made....lots of people wear stompy boots and heels and step on your feet. My roommate wore converses on the day of the concert and could barely walk the next day.

STAY HYDRATED. A lot of people fainted at the concert because of dehydration, and I nearly passed out because I wasn't sufficiently hydrated.

sweatdrop I'm just typing them as I remember them.....I love that I've actually only been to one concert EVAR, but I'm rambling on as if I'm an expert or something. sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop Apologies if I sound like a know it all....
