((This is a Private RP between `Swirly and Myself. Please do not post unless asked. )) --------------------------------------- Pain lanced through her leg again and she winced, doing her best to ignore it. She couldn't stop the pain and she couldn't do anything to help it, she was too far away from home to stop now. She probably needed some sort of medical attention. She could feel the blood dribbling down her leg, even if she was distracted a bit by the pouunding rain and raging storm. Damn she thought softly, eyes half-lidded against the intrusion of water. Her body was soaked, white hair a mass that constantly fell into her eyes and stuck to her cheeks. This storm had come out of nowhere, it had been a cheerful and brilliant day, not a cloud in the sky. Oh, her luck was just perfect. Her body shivered and she knew she would have one massive cold when she got home. Right now, she just needed to get home. But...which way was it?

Caelen knew her scent anywhere. It had been over a month since he had last been nearly Azariel. Sure, he had stayed close enough to pick up her scent every once in awhile. A few times the scent of another stallion near her had made him want to smash things into the ground.
It simply wasn't healthy.
She isn't mine. She isn't mine. She.. DAMN WELL will get used to me. Shucks, a month or so wasn't enough to cool his possesive streak.
It was so hard to find Soquilis, mares alike, that had more spirit than a wet noodle. Wait.. blood? He could smell blood? With a harsh snort Caelen shot out towards where Azariel was headed, "Az! Az, lass! Why're ye bleedin'?"

She managed a few more steps, the pain in her back leg hurting enough to make her hobble. She hoped very, very badly she wouldn't meet something that wanted to hurt her. Something she couldn't defend herself with.
She froze mid-step. Eh? Had she heard something. Her ears flattened backward, headed casting about in hope of seeing whoever and whatever it was before it could do anything to harm her. She might not be able to defend herself against it. She'd damn well try.
It didn't matter if the voice was a bit too familiar...

Caelen was having trouble seeing through the rain. It wasn't pouring down so hard that it was impossible to see, but running made it feel as if it was pounding about twice as hard. Damnit. The smell of thick warm blood was filling his nose just as quickly as the rain washed it away. Soon enough the sight of small flashes of white came into his range.
Az!
Moving slower than before Caelen managed to make his way over to her. The ground was muddy and one wrong step would probably send him flying sideways or face first into the vile muck. "Oi lass, what's happened ter ye?"
Caelen managed a mucky prance over to her and stared into the familiar, ableit soaking wet, aqua eyes. "I canna leave yer side, eh?"

Az managed to see through her hair enough to catch the green flash-because now it was unmistakable, the rain and other factors made it so. Crap. Not him.
She didn't want him to see her like this. Wounded and soaking went, half-tempted to just fall to the ground and cry until she slept. Damned wounds always made her ansy and liable to do things she wouldn't normally do. She didn't want him to think she was weak, to think she was less then she was.
Why on earth did she care though? Of course she felt like she had to prove herself to others, that she was just as good as anyone else even just being herself. So why, why whenever she was around the green stallion did she feel that pressure heighten to enormous levels?
"It's none of your business," She tried to snap, it only came out as a croak. Damned exhaustion to the bowels of whatever hell there was. Weakness was for the losers. She wasn't weak. "You can leave my side whenever you like, Caelen," She hissed, half-tempted to shaked her tresses out of her face, but knowing it wouldn't help any.
She was being mean and rude and she knew it. But pain, exhaustion and being soaking wet had worn what patience she had incredibly thin. It didn't matter a wink that she cold stop looking at him.

Ahh, even injured and tired she had the pluck to wish he'd go away. Now wasn't that amazing? Okay, well not amazing but just a bit cute.
"Now now lass, I'm nae here ter do ye any harm." It was almost tiresome to have to fuss at her every single time they met up, but fun. "Do ye know that yer essentially taking the longest way possible ter get ter yer two-legger?" He'd bet his eye that she had absolutely no idea.
Caelen rubbed his muzzle up and along her dripping wet mane. Hoping that she'd be willing to lean against him to take more of her weight. "Lass ye need ter trust me so I can get ye out of this blasted water."
He turned his body, they had stood in this position once before, where she had been able to lean on him comfortably. "I find it hard ter believe that ye have more fun without me by yer side. The last time I checked I hadna made ye bleed with any of the fun we had had tergether." Rubbing his neck against her soothingly, knowing thar right now she'd be too tired to kick and bite him away, "Alright lass, let's get moving.. Just lean on me I can handle yer weight."

She shook her head, patience wearing even more, "Caelen, you nimwit!" She glared at him, "You don't need to tell me that! Not at all! I know you're not going to hurt me, hell, you've told me so many times--!" She blew out of her mouth, almost spitting the water the dribbled down her face away.
She growled at him, this close to just biting him. She did not need his help for anything. Her body shivered again and she wasn't sure if it was the cold and wet or the fact he was touching her once more. Did it matter at all? "You don't even know where I live," She hissed, glaring as best she could when she was soaking wet.
Trust him. She was supposed to trust him enough to get them out of the rain? What did she need his help for? She jumped as the lightning crackled dangerously. She didn't like that bit of the thunderstorm.
"Shut up," She managed to growl again, not wanting to move now that he was here. She didn't need his help at all. She had made it this far, after all. "And what if I don't want to move?" She half-hissed, half-sighed. She shivered again, too cold and tired to do much else. Even the pain in her leg, throbbing to her heartbeat, didn't spur her enough.

Caelen rubbed his neck more firmly against her when she was ranting about him being a bit over repetative, "Well lass, I'm afraid ter say but yer likely have ter hear me say it many more times until I'm completely positive I have yer trust, even if it's just as friend, do ye understand a'tall?"
Oh-ho, this pretty little mare certainly wasn't in the finest mood he could ask for, but then too what sort of mood was he in when it was raining and one of his legs was in the mood to leak blood everywhere? Oi, what a pain in the a** for her. It was kinda nice to get to be close to her.
Damn. and then she'd have to go and ruin his fun be being cranky with him for wanting to help her. It was almost a wall that went up between the two of them as she froze up and then sputtered at him.
"I'll nae shut up, ye ought ter know that now too." Caelen just kept rubbing and comforting him as best he could, "Come now lass, just move with me and ye'll soon be warm and comfortable... Please jest behave fer once and when yer properly tended ter ye can box in me ribs'n'ears."

Azariel growled again wordlessly, torn between biting his ear and enjoying that nuzzle even if it was horrible timing. "Yes, yes," She hissed, glaring again.
She did know that. He couldn't keep his mouth shut on anything, why did she bother to tell him to? She shook her head, wet hair, splatting and clinging to her face, neck and body.
"Fine," Was she actually agreeing with him? What had happened to her stubbornness? She was just too tired to argue for long. All she wanted to do at that moment was lay down and sleep; sleep until everything just washed away...The temptation of his offer, to be warm and comfortable, was just enough to get her moving again, though she wouldn't bow enough to lean on him, "Let's go then."

Caelen just made low deep noises in the back of his throat. She might be cranky with him, but until she was willing to lean onto him it'd probably be a pain in the a** uphill battle.
"Ye know lass, I've been told before I've a lovely singin' voice, would ye care ter hear a tune or two ter make the time pass more enjoyably?" It was going to be a pain to think of a song that went well with the rain, but maybe she would be lulled into leaning on him. Otherwise they were in for an ungodly long walk.
Their footsteps moved in unison save for the slight gimp whenever Az came to putting weight on her injured backleg, "'fore ye humor me with listenin' ter me catterwallin' would ye be willin ter tell me what happened ter yer leg? If anybody messed with ye I'm liable ter tear out their kidneys... I warn ye now lass."

Azariel shook her head, smiling despite the situation. He'd sing for her? How sweet of him, but she's rather not be serenaded at this point in time, besides, the routine interruptions of thunder and the crack of lightning did not set a very pleasant mood for entertainment.
"No one...messed with me," She grunted, taking a few steps forward, "It was a stupid thing. An old friend of mine and I were...checking out an old ravine we used to play in. Sadly," She glanced at him for a moment before returning her attention to the matter at hand, "IT was both too small for us and still dangerous." She winced as she wwas forced to and weight to her injured leg, "I got cut. I'll live."
She shook her head, still surprised at how so much had changed since she was a fool. Back then the ravine had been huge and though still dangerous, had been much less so. It was a cruel reminder of age once more.

The shake of her head managed to throw a bit of water into his eyes, moreso than what was already falling from the sky. He had been serious for far too long, time to tease her once again, "Oi lass, yer hair may jest have ter be cut so as ter not attack me whenever I'm close ter ye."
The cut on her foot was more than just an injury. Even a blind fool could tell that someone was bothering her because she had been cut. "Come now lass, would ye care ter tell me about it? Ye know ole Caelen's got a pretty good ear fer listenin' if ye've a mind ter chatter." His body was kept flush up against hers as they moved and the glow of a few murky fires were in sight now, albeit still a long walk away.
"Look lass, we've a mile or less afore yer warm and cared for." Oh boy.. here was going to be the question of the week, "Do ye mind if I stay with ye ternight.. along with yer two legger..?" She was probably going to turn him down.

Azariel snorted, not willing to take the bait, "Remember that and tell it to my two-legger, she's the one who refuses to cut it." Oh, howshe wishes she didn't have to deal with it! This was just the type of situation that made her hair at it's worst. It would be hell to fix it up.
An ear flicked toward him and she chewed on this information for a while, silent. "It's..." She sighed, "The same reason why I was acting like I was when we first met." Another sigh, she didn't want to discuss it with anyone. Likely, he'd just make fun of her over it.
She paused in her stride, looking at her searchingly. Had he just asked to stay the night with her? She regained herself and moved forward again, "Why not? You won't be the first." She huffed softly, remembering the last time someone had stayed at the teepee, he had been very injured and she had just been a filly.

Caelen just smiled at the little thing, she wasn't in the mood to fight with him? Lordy, she must have either lost a whole heck of a lot of blood, or she was starting to get more attached, "I think ye look quite adorable with that mop plastered ter yer neck." Well.. she did to him at least.
She didn't want to grow up? Well just because she was bigger didna mean she really had to be a grown up, "Lass, I'm much older than ye and yet I act every bit as young as you do. Actually, come ter think o it, I seem ter be a bit more coltish than you." He hoped she would see the small lesson, size didn't do much for age.
Oh-Ho! Now that struck a nerve or four, he wouldn't be the first huh? Well he wasn't willing to be the last then. Withdrawing into himself for the rest of the journey Caelen planned to make his exit as soon as her two-legger had found her. The little thing certainly knew which blows to use.

Azariel snorted again, turning to give him a displeased look, "Right, right, you just said you wanted me to cut it," She pointed out, sighing and wincing as she once again put weight on her leg.
She chuckled, "Ha, it's that and another thing..." She shook her head, "But it's not something I want to talk about at the moment," She raised her head, looking around to see if they were any closer. She was so tired...so very, very tired. The weight of the day, the rain that soaked her to the skin and everything, just made her so tired. She sighed, "No, you may be a colt half the time, she looked at him, "But you're grown-up enough to have gotten my friendship."
As the silence lengthened she stopped, wondering what she had said to make him withdraw so much. Had it been the fact that he wouldn't be the first to stay at her home? The thought made her laugh, though the fact that she was probably becoming sick from being out so long in the rain did help it a bit.
"Caelen..." She raised her head to nuzzle his cheek softly, only half-aware of what she was doing, "The only other male to stay at my teepee was a friend who had been injured helping me. He stayed one night and I was just a filly. It was years ago." She let out a chuckle, "Don't get bent out over it, I'd hardly let anyone else stay."
