"Papa, papa... I want to swing on the tire. Come push me, pleeeeaaase?" came the shrill voice of a whining toddler as the sound of approaching footsteps washed into the playground. "I wanna spin!!"
Calder sighed as he let Taki tug him by the fingertips onto the gravel of the playground by the fingertips. "Okay, okay. I'll push you on the tire. Just let me set this down first..." the Sidhe pleaded. It seemed satisfactory for the cat boy, who scampered over to the tire swing with a gleeful giggle. Calder ran fingers through his bangs, as the rest of his hair was tied back in an impromptu ponytail. He'd just completed a job, and had spent most of the previous evening--and of course by evening, he meant well into the night--finishing the reviews and writing up his notice that due to the new arrival in his home, he wouldn't be writing many reviews for a while.
The dark circles seemed to have evaded Taki's notice, surely. He had insisted on going to a playground, and Calder deemed the safest such place the Liberty Center's park. So here they were. The bag and Calder's jacket dropped to the bench with a fwump.
Taki had already seated himself on the tire swing, bouncing excitedly on the large piece of rubber and chains and it looked terribly treacherous to Calder. But... well, Taki wanted to spin, and so Calder leaned down, took hold of one chain, and whirled. Taki let out a squeal of excitement as the thing began to spin, and Calder stepped back, keeping one eye on the swing, and one eye on the bench where he'd left his bag and jacket. As far as he could tell, there was nobody else there, but it was better not to take chances, right?

There was in fact somebody else in the playground as Olivia had thought it a good idea to take Madeleine out for a bit, and they now sat nestled in the shadow of a small tree. The small caterpillar child was happily playing at the feet of her mother, seemingly entranced by the straws of grass in her chubby fingers. Olivia on the other hand was watching the newcomers with a certain trepidation copyrighted to young mothers protective of their spawn. But if they were here, in the Liberty Center, then they had to have some affiliation with the lab, and the cat-boy seemed unique enough to be one of the adoptees. Madeleine made a small sound and squirmed as her mother hoisted her up and made way towards the swings. "They're pretty cute at this age, huh?" Olivia stopped next to the man to watch the spinning tire along with him. Madeleine stopped squirming in her arms, once again entranced by something new and exciting - this time the wondrous spinning of the tire and the boy clinging to it. She had only been in this world a matter of days, and everything was so new and exciting to the small green child.

"Hu--oh. Hello." Calder turned and smiled warmly at the newcomer, glancing back towards Taki, and only then spotting Madeleine. "Yes, and a bundle of trouble, too..." He chuckled, then offered a hand. "I'm Calder. That's Taki."
The swing was slowing, and at the sound of his name, he twisted around to look at what was going on. "Papa?" Now his papa was talking to somebody. That meant he wouldn't come push him. Taki pouted extravagantly and slid down through the tire swing's center, plopping onto the gravel and only then did he spot Madeleine.
Cat-green eyes widened at the sight of this other child; she was quieter than Irelia, he could already tell. With tail swishing, he toddled over to her, and stared.
"Taki. Don't stare, it's rude," came the distracted call from the sidhe. Taki sat down on the ground beside Madeleine and bit his lip, ears turned back and gaze fixed on the ground.
"I waddn't starin'."
