It was finally a nice day out! Lenne had been so cooped up in the house over the last few weeks, nothing but terrible weather had pleagued them, but no it was nice out! Hooray!
Lenne lay in the grass as the warm sun beat down upon her exposed wings and back, causing her already creamy hazel tan to become neraly milk chocolate in color. Just the way she liked it.
Miyon, however, ran around the park bare footed and climbed anything from trees to jungles gyms. By now most thought the little herald would be past her fluffy white hair and bright blue eyes, but it wasn't the case for poor Miyon. She was a late bloomer, just like some of the flowers out in her little garden. Hopefully she would bloom soon too...

Cramped inside the house.
Cramped.
Inside the house. With a dog and a growing little boy. Oh god, the past few weeks had been pure hell for the entire household. Alexei, had, unlike most children, not gotten cabin fever…which was odd, but he did seem to wilt around the edges like lettuce left out too long in the grocery store. Nio had been the one to worry about, becoming yappy, annoying, and destructive, and Azruael had lost a few pairs of shoes in the process of trying to calm the beast. At least he had gotten out some, working at the bar and everything.
But Alexei needed interaction with someone his age. He was becoming too much of a hermit.
“Here’s a Frisbee, here’s your dog, and here’s the park. Go make merry and try not to destroy anything.”
Azruael thrust the leash into his son’s hand, of who blinked up at him curiously before climbing onto the Great Dane’s back. Jumbo yipped and danced in place as the little Herald held it in front of his nose.
“Go’n ge’it!” Alexei threw the Frisbee and it whizzed through the air…and fell like a dead fly in front of Nio’s paws. Azruael smacked his forehead. He bent down and picked up the plastic disc.
“Kid, it’s all in the wrist. More like…this.” Flicking his hand, the red discus zipped through the air and arched, cleaving into the sawdust of the jungle gym’s box. With a squeal, the massive dog was racing after it, the little curly-haired angel hanging on for dear life.
Ah, nothing like a boy and his dog.
Declaring it ‘me-time’, Azruael crammed his hands into his pockets and looked around. Kids, middle-aged mothers, pets…he screwed up his face. This really wasn’t his scene at all.
He spotted Lenne.
Now that was his scene. He glided over and purposely blocked her sun, spreading his wings out to be even more of a pissant to the girl relaxing in the warmth of the day. Leaning over with his arms crossed neatly over his chest, he grinned.
“The Easter bunny left some chocolate out for me after all!”

Lenne furrowed her brow once the bright light from the sun was stolen from her, she gave a slight yawn and lifted herself up slightly and turned her head to see Azruael. As soon as she caught sight of him she blinked and blushes abit, making sure quickly to snap the back of her dress together around her neck before sitting up anymore. Afterall, it wasn't proper for an angel to let her goods be showing.
"I don't see any chocolate..." Lenne smiled, lifting herself onto her elbows and rotating until she was propped with her back to the ground, "Only a cheesey grin on a hopeful man."
Miyon looked down from where she was on the wooden bridge that overlooked the sand box. She blinked for a moment and smiled, pointing down at Alexei and managing only to let out a happy squeal, "IT'S A PUPPY!!"

Azruael barked a laugh and leaned back, the corners of his lips tugged into an amused smile. His wings shuffled before tucking neatly against his back, tail ticking languidly back and forth. As he watched her with eyes lidded against the brightness of the day, his head canted to the side. Hadn’t he met her once before? He wasn’t sure if his memory was lacking, or if she simply looked like someone he had once met, but something made him almost positive…
“I know you.” It was a statement, not a question. He hated playing this game. The demon’s dark lips pressed into a slender line, another appearing at his brow as they furrowed. And then suddenly the sharp planes of his face smoothened.
“The store!” His fingers snapped, child-like delight brightening his eyes.
Jumbo leapt into the sawdust box and skidded to a halt, sending Alexei launching over his head. The little angel flailed his arms, his wings, his legs, but none were enough to sustain his baby weight. He ate woodchips.
“Gack! Pawh! Jumboo!” he whined, rubbing his elbows. He sat up to scold his dog (who was snapping his head back and forth, killing the plastic disk) when Miyon squealed.
“Oh…hiya!” He beamed and climbed to his feet, dusting himself off. “This’us Jumbo!”

Lenne smiled, nodding her head a little. "Yes. You met me and my little one at the store that one time. I can't remember the conversation exactly but I definitely remember you and your voice." She laughed.
Lenne looked quite a bit healthier from the last time they had seen each other. The red under her eyes were barely visible and the obsessive compulsive urge to cover every inch of her body seemed to have dissipated as she was wearing something very flowy, white and revealing.
"It's a puppy." Miyon giggled, hopping down from the wooden bridge to go pet the dog. "Sister has puppies at our house."

Azruael rubbed his chin with a forefinger, “Mm…maybe it’s a good thing that the conversation was forgotten. I can’t imagine I said anything…ah, clean.” He waved a hand dismissively. Remembering the event did a great deal to make the pieces fall back into place – she certainly looked different, he noted absently. Not that he was about to complain.
He took a seat at her side, wings stretching out behind him. The demon leaned back, and rolled his head back, staring at her from the corners of his eyes; they flickered away after a moment, spying Alexei (or Jumbo, rather – he was harder to miss). Good, he was fine.
“So…ah, how’s motherhood been treating you?” He grinned.
The little Herald looked delighted – it wasn’t every day he saw a – “Hey! Yeh’re Miyon! D’ya rem’mber me?” Alexei looked as though he would burst with glee – unlike his father, he had a crystal clear memory. Seeing Miyon after so long (and another Herald at that) made him brighten instantaneously.
“Y’have doggies too? Ar’they as big’n as Jumbo?” Alexei wrapped his tiny hand around the leash and tugged the Great Dane forward, who only too gladly loped over to smother the little Herald girl in slobbery kisses.

"Not so well." She sighed, leaning her neck back and wincing slightly as it cracks on her from no where. "A few months after Miyon came along we adopted a few others into our ranks. I won't mention their names, they're not appropriate..." Lenne sighed, craning her head up a tad to make sure Miyon was doing alright.
"I 'members." Miyon smiled, her speech quite better than from the last time they had seen each other. She squealed and giggled when the dog licked her and made kissey noises at it. "Puppy, puppy, puppy!" She cooed, before replying to Alexei's other question, "We gots tiny puppy's. They yips and yaps and bites yer ankles."

His brows rose upwards. Wow, more than one? He could barely take care of a boy and a dog. Azruael half wondered just what it was like to take care of a girl before he snuffed out his curiosity. He had dealt with women from all walks of life, but he wasn’t about to take care of a miniature one. No way in hell. With their tears and tantrums and wants and needs and demands.
Can you say messy?
Reaching over, he invaded Lenne’s personal space and wheedled his hand against the back of her neck, grinding his fingers gently against her joints.
“That bad?” he questioned, keeping his eyes on the children. Despite acting as the nonchalant father, Azruael was incredibly protective of what was his, which was good, in some cases. He returned his attention to Lenne.
“Extended family. Wow. Maybe I’m blessed to be stuck with just the kid and the mutt. Gotta learn to say no, I suppose, right? No way in hell another person could fit into my place.”
“Even whens Jumbo wassa’pup he was huge-mungus!” Alexei raised a hand into the air, far above his head. “Th’big.” He smiled, though made sure to keep a hold of Jumbo so he didn’t knock the flax-haired girl over – he’d done that to him one too many times.
“Ahh, Jumbo, tha’s ‘nuff! Yer gett’n her all wet!” he laughed, pushing on the dog’s massive head; he pushed back and planted a slobbery kiss on the boy’s ear. “Euwwah!”

Lenne jerked away from him grimacing. What seemed to be little red spots from where his fingers had touched showed up on the back of her neck for several moments before dissapearing.
"It's not wise to touch me..." She murmured quietly, a warning a little too late for the most part. "People don't like it when their pain is shared with the world..." She looked back to him with a sad smiled, red dripping down from her eyes. "I promise I won't tell anybody..."
Miyon giggled, clapping her hands with delight at the dog. "Does Puppy-Jumbo play fetches???" She said, quirking her head to the side. She looked around for a stick quickly, one big enough that Jumbo could actually bring back to them and now just snap within his jaws.

The way Lenne jerked away was surprising to him, as it wasn’t something he’d expected. Azruael tore his own hand from her abruptly, and loud curse expulsing from his lips as he saw the markings across her skin – his eyes widened, and a string of curses and apologies left him in a rush; what the hell had he just done? Had his touch been particularly hard? s**t, this was not good.
But as suddenly as they appeared, they were gone. He felt as though he’d been punched in the gut, completely winded, doubly surprised. What was going on?
His brow creased, “What are you talking about? What the—just what are you?”
To say he sounded frightened was an understatement – but it was difficult to hear any underlying fear with the anger that leapt into his tone. He was just confused, and in dire need of answers.
Jumbo danced in place, a big grin splitting his canine face. He loved it when he got attention, especially from the smaller people! They smelt good, sometimes clean, sometimes dirty, and sometimes sticky! Just his kind of humans. He yipped and yowled excitedly, knowing something was afoot in the plan of games.
“Yuh huh! But some’n’times he won’ever give the stick back!” Alexei laughed at the dog and rubbed his ears, rolling his giant head in his tiny hands. Jumbo nosed him and then bounded past the little Herald, nosing over Miyon’s shoulder as if to assist her in finding a stick.
Alexei simply grinned and picked up the forgotten disc, wiping it on his pants…sadly, they HAD been white, “Wanna use this’n?”

"Mercy incarnate..." Lenne muttered, trying to hush him so the kids wouldn't hear. She sat up bringing her knees to her chest and rested her chin upon them. "I'm sorry if I startled you...I didn't expect you to actually try and touch me..." Her wings upon her back wiggled abit, some loose feathers floating to the ground, giving off a stark contrast of red and white against the the bright green of the grass.
"Ooo!" Miyon smiled, going to take the disc from Alexei, "Tha'd work!....But....Wha' issit?" She muttered, looking it over, before tyring to throw it. As in Alexei's first attempt in plunked to the ground right infront of her.

Azruael pinched the bridge of his nose, eyes squeezing shut as though to stave off a headache. With so many nightmares of things long past, having something happen whilst in the world of the waking made his stomach turn. Rubbing his face with the flat of his palm, he flopped backwards in the grass, black wings stretching up behind him. He looked every part exhausted; physically, mentally, spiritually…
“Don’t apologize,” he mumbled from beneath his arm, of which he’d thrown over his face. “It’s my own damn fault.”
He peeked over at her, “Mercy incarnate. What does that entail?” Had she discovered anything about him…? Or had she just felt it?
Alexei giggled at her attempt; Jumbo’s head had simply followed the short lift the disc had had, comically tweaking his ears upwards as if to say, ‘uh…what was that?’
The curly haired Herald bent down and picked up the discus, and in a very Azruael-like way, began to demonstrate, “S’all in the wrist” – he paused – “kid.” Yes, that sounded more like Papa’n!
Alexei popped his wrist, but kept his grip firm on the Frisbee; Jumbo followed his hand eagerly. “See? Gotta make sure tha’ the curly-down part is t’ward’th’ groun’. Then’ye jus’…”
He said a quick prayer, flicked his wrist, and let go…and luckily, the disc whizzed off far enough that the Great Dane could chase after it. Alexei breathed a sigh of relief; his pride had been saved!

"I take away the pain of others..." She explained, brushing some of her bangs from her face, "And I put it upon myself. That's why I look so ill at times..."
She relaxed some, sitting up right and letting her legs slide back out before they got cramped. She whiped a few blades of grass from her dress and sighed. "I'm hoping this doesn't shove a wall between you and I. I'd hate to scare off a potential friend..."
"Wooooow...." Miyon said, her jaw in a slight drop. "I wanna do it too!!" She urged, flapping her little wings in excitement as she waited for the dog to come back with the dic thinger.

Listening to her explanation, Azruael could only imagine just how she might have reacted if he hadn’t withdrawn. For just one person, he harbored an immense amount of deadweight on his shoulders that he knew he could never rid himself of. He was literally one giant walking, talking tragedy. It was the price of damnation.
“I’m sorry,” he repeated, again. Potential friend? After his ridiculous mistake she was still willing? The demon’s lips upturned, fangs peeking from his upper lip; time to lighten the mood.
“Of course, of course,” he said with a lofty sigh, smile only widening. “However…you are aware this puts a crux on the fun we could have had. Oh woe.”
Jumbo nearly tripped over his own paws as he caught the disc, twisting around with a skip and a jump to bound back over to the two Heralds. He pressed it into Alexei’s hands, but the boy denied him; the dog canted his head, confused.
“Give’ta Miyon, Jumbo!” Alexei motioned, pushing his head gently. Jumbo yapped around the Frisbee before he turned to the Herald girl, pressing the disc into her chest.

Lenne laughed a bit at his antics, and shook her head with a smile. "Hopefully that fun was clean." She teased, looking back out to two children as they played. "Sometimes I wish I was that young again." She reminiced, a twinge of envy in her voice."Childhood seems to be gone so fast..."
The girl gave a loud squeal as the dog pushed the frisbee to her, taking it happily and giving the dog itself kisses. She looked back to Alexei, "How didja do that again??" She asked, holding onto the frisbee.
