Thats right! On the news, just this morn, On the news they announced theres almost an EXSACT duplicate Earth. It has breathable air, liveable land, and all. Just one catch. It goes through a whole years seasons in 13 days! Thats right! I belive this would difficult growing of crops and such. But they could build weather-controled domes like here in gurney. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any sourses? Please post and discuss! They did say it is a possiblity that humans can live there... so what are your thoughts on people going to this "New Earth"? Do you believe what I think? I believe, This will cause many upper-class people, to purchase land on the new planet. Celebertys and overall rich people. Leaving us to just sit on this world, dying from other threats alrady disscused. So tell me, Would you go? Should we go? How should we manage this? and even, Is there other life on the planet already? Not much was said on the news, so what are your theorys?

huh? Crazy. Where is this planet? In our solar system?
I have no dobut that there are plenty of other earth like planets in the universe...but to get there... that's really the problem. we can barely get our probes to saturn in what ...23 years...or so..
I think I remeber reading that one of Saturns moons could be a probable place for life. The one that starts with an E... I can't think of it right now..
I need to finish writing my paper. XP

lol What does that have to do with life on other planets. Xp
I know there is huge controversy about 9-11, but I don't think any stories out there are about what really happened - nobody knows... ninja

There probably are Earth-like planets in existance. However, I imagine that they aren't exactly nearby. ^^;;
As for moons of Saturn and such? Well, they would have to have an atmosphere that supports life, and gravity and such would be nice. Mayhaps by way of terra-forming and the like?

The Goods. Double gravity. Estimated surface temperate between 0 and 40 celsius. 1.5 times size of Earth, 5 times mass. All at a mere 20 light years away. There's also apparently no moon, and seeing a tideless ocean would be completely badass.

I believe that it is possible to live on another planet...the only problem is getting there. At this point in time there is no way to get us out of our solar system in a timely manor....*hums the Star Trek theme* To boldly go where no man has gone before!!!!

JessiDlux93 Ttheres almost an EXSACT duplicate Earth. No no and no. It is the closest we've ever found to being similar to Earth, in mass, but that doesn't mean it's Earth. It has 1.5 times the mass of Earth. That doesn't seem like a whole lot, but ultimately it means the surface gravity will be much higher. JessiDlux93 It has breathable air, liveable land, and all. None of the above have been announced. What they have said is that it lies in the "goldilocks zone", which is the region of orbit from the star that's just right to support liquid water. Since the parent star is smaller and cooler, that's why it has to be so close in. JessiDlux93 They did say it is a possiblity that humans can live there... Possibility. Meaning a remote one. But still far more than any other planet we've discovered. JessiDlux93 This will cause many upper-class people, to purchase land on the new planet. You can't buy land on a planet we haven't even been to. Hell, we can't even buy land on the moon, and that's in our back yard. JessiDlux93 Would you go? Should we go? How should we manage this? Given we haven't even landed on Mars yet, asking about going to a star that would take 20 years to get to travelling at the speed of light (so hundreds to thousands of years at speeds we can achieve) is pointless. JessiDlux93 Is there other life on the planet already? Any comments on this subject would be wild speculation.

This is one of the problems with "the news". They gloss over the facts and make a story that sounds good to them. They don't question the feasibility of the actual information or take it in context.

Awe, don't feel stupid Jessi. Think of it as your learning something new.
Voija here is a Astronomy Major in his Senior year (I belive) so yeah.. you can learn alot from him. wink
But don't think your stupid - don't ever think that. This guild isn't about making you feel stupid, it's about helping you understand... so your source was off...Fox news...never a good source. FYI.
Luv ya.

I'm still confused though, are we talking about Saturns moon or a planet around another star?
P.s I'm going to go ahead and widely speculate that more likely than not there is life on other planets orbiting other stars! I'm sure of it!
We are not that special that we are the only one's in this whole universe to exsist. I don't believe that for a sec.
