Well heck. I want to make a toku / metal hero costume, or even a few that can be used for a short action film.
What I'm having trouble with is finding out which materials are used in the professional world, aswell as the step by step procedure to making a costume.
Over the years I've found a few sites that showed how to make costumes like these, but whether or not it was for production style use or cosplay use is difficult to tell.

I imagin the amount of work behind something like that would be considerably more then a normal costume. You have to be good with rubbers and plastics, and maybe even metal working.
If i make a costume I generally manage to buy an assortment of normal clothes that are the same as a charicter, as i happen to be quite bad at making clothes.

I'm not much of a cosplayer. I mean once I bought a pair of jeans & a yellow vest to resemble Charlie from the Street Fighter Alpha games but that was it. sweatdrop I'm sure the info's out there, it can't be that much different than anime cosplaying. Actually a friend of mine(member of the guild too but he quit Gaia) went to a con dressed as Jiro from Kikaider.

I'd have to say the costumes I want to make wouldn't be entirely metal hero. They'd have about the solid/lycra ratio of most kamen riders.
I think rubber and plastic would be used more than metal. there might be metal framework used in the molded piece for extra support. The budget I'm on won't permit for anything as extravagant as hollywood. erg... money.

I'm making an original. There's a bit of speilvan inspiration to it. The costumes I will make aren't cosplay/convention costumes. They're costumes to be used in a low budget movie series.
I'll be experimenting with different materials.

My best advice: Go to a sporting goods store (used or commercial) and start looking at padding for various sports. Also for the mask, look up Paintball Masks. V-Force makes some really good ones.

wahmbulance (<☼>::+~-~->Where ever that we go, the three brave Anigos...Y'know, it's funny I was reading about Zentai the other day when doing a search on Superheros. I dunno if this page will ultimately be useful to you but whatever. Do what you want with it. And forever Anigos we shall be...

Yeah, I heard of that before. Someone thought I typoed it in my interests on Yahoo 360 when of course it was "sentai" & added me as a friend.

wahmbulance (<☼>::+~-~->Where ever that we go, the three brave Anigos...I would see why, since the s & z key are close together. A zentai fan added you as a friend cause they they thought you meant zentai & not sentai? Hopefully they weren't leaning toward the fetish aspect. And forever Anigos we shall be...
