The GSA Network was founded in 1998 to empower youth activists to start Gay-Straight Alliance clubs and fight homophobia and transphobia in schools. GSA Network began working with 40 GSA clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1998-99 school year. The organization quickly expanded and by 2001 GSA Network became a statewide organization. Today... It is a country wide even that is coming together in school through out America.

For those who dont know already... The Gay-Straight Alliance Network is a youth-led organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances to each other and community resources. Through peer support... Leadership development and training... GSA Network supports young people in starting... Strengthening and sustaining GSAs and builds the capacity of GSAs to:

1. create safe environments in schools for students to support each other and learn about homophobia and other oppressions,
2. educate the school community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues, and
3. fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools.

If you have any views on this please post. I really thought that this was worth recognizing for our school is fighting for a club of our own. Feuding over sexual preference in schooled environments are becoming more and more common through out the whole nation but often go on ignored due to the fact (as most of you are probably aware of) that this type of school recognition has been seen as unfit for the public knowlege. To me this organization is what we need these days to help out those in need of answers and support... So woot! Now discuss :3

tell them that being gay is not the person's fault and they can cram that bible s**t up thier a**. I have a Understanding Abnormal Behaviors seventh edition Textbook on my desk and I will quote it now

page 309, 2nd paragraph, fifth bullet
~ Research suggests that homosexuality is not simply a lifestyle choice but is rather a naturally occuring phenomenon linked o a biological disposition.

Tell your school that I can't help it if my p***s goes up if I see and naked guy and not when I see a naked girl. If they think it is blasphemy then tell them that I am sorry for my such terrible crime against the human race and that I will try my hardest to train my p***s.

GSA is not encouraged in my school, as i live in the Bible Belt, in a small town...even though the school is big (2200 people in a high school) I don't think it will happen unless I start one.

I don't think my school has an official stance on it. I've toyed with the idea of creating one, but I'm already in 3 clubs and I kinda like having 2 days of the week where I don't have to go somewhere at lunch. sweatdrop And I think that the majority of the people that would join are people I already know and are friends with. xd

because their ego is shoved too far up their arse... sweatdrop

Inappropriate. You must have respect for others beliefs, even if you disagree. You have been warned. Also, try to keep the p***s talk to a minimum.

Go for it.

You never know. You might end up making new frieds. Also, there are projects you could get done in the context of a club that you might never take on otherwise.

Simply not true. There are always many more than you'd expect. Also, it's called the Gay/Straight Alliance.

I am a christian and I believe that the conservative christian beliefs on homosexuality are not logically based and should be discarded. So many sets of rules that they do not follow, yet they decide to pick that ONE to make a major deal. Seriously, if your going to eat shellfish and wear clothes with different materials, don't preach against gays, it's all in the same set of rules. That's all I was trying to say, and I am sorry for my previous post, I was mad and I was also on a ranting rampage, but it is still no exuse. Please forgive me everyone.

Same with the uni that I got accepted into. Now all I have to do is pass this semester to get into Uni... ninja

I think something should also be said about the open door network, which is basically a program where the teachers have a little pride flag on their door signifiying that a student can go tlak to that teacher about homosexual/bisexual/transgendered issues and that the teacher will have had training/info on how to deal. 3nodding
They are trying to start one where I am now, but I won't be around to see it to fruition.
