My last name is Levy... Which would probably mean we were part of the tribe of Levi'im (if it weren't for the fact that it was changed to levy far back by some stupid official).

uhh....I'm not really sure to be honest, and I'm too paranoid to post it online. Probably means something, but I don't know. sweatdrop

EDIT: Cool; my last name means "peace with G-d" and my Hebrew name means "pretty." Too bad they're completely unrelated. xp

My Hebrew name is Dinah Chayil. Dinah means 'justice' and Chayil means 'soldierly qualities.' Chayil, in particular, is one that I love. It's part of the phrase, "Eishet Chayil." Usually that is translated as "A Woman of Valor," but in fact, Chayil means so much more than just courage and bravery. It also means strength, vitality, protection, ferocity, steadfastness... basically, every good quality that a woman should have. EXCEPT physical beauty. I think the message in that name is clear: A woman's real beauty lies within her strength, not in her pretty face and hair, not in the shape of her figure.

My name, Yael, means mountain goat.
Hehe. That's silly.

My name has absolutely no lingual meaning, because our name probably came from the type of people my ancestors were.

My name was probably change from Bearddon when we came here, and apparently means my ancestors were hairy, bearded men, who lived of or on a hill (don). Don't even ask, that's just what I heard.

It's much more difficult to translate Scottish names than Hebrew names. biggrin
No offense or anything. neutral

Thank you so much, darkphoenix1247! I only hope to live up to even a portion of this name. A name like this creates a great responsibility in a person, to live up to it. I hope I can.

When I hear Dinah, I always think of that song,"I've been working on the railroad"...but it's a good name.

Dinah is pronounced dee-NAH or DEE-nah, not DYE-nuh. wink

Divash means Honey. It's what I occasionally think I'd like to name a daughter, if I were to have one.
