I've read a few websites and reaped the benefits of a few people's wisdom, but I thought I'd ask the guild:
What exactly do they believe?
I always thought that worshipping Jesus as a saviour (and part of G-d?) would contradict being a practicing Jew. Websites seem to just tell me lots of different things so I'm pretty confused on this subject. Guidance, please?

The way I understand it (mind you, this is extremely limited), Jews for Jesus are pretty much Christians who keep the laws of the Old Testament, and are more culturally Jewish than Christian.
Like I said, that's my extremely limited understanding of it. Someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me.

Very few "Jews" For Jesus are actually Jews. They view themselves as inheritors of Israel's chosenness because they are Christians. They keep some Jewish customs and phrase themselves with Hebrew or Yiddish terminology, but in fact, their liturgy and ideology are closest to that of American, Protestant Christianity. The J4J are funded largely by Baptist contributors. For some helpful and accurate information, check out http://www.jewsforjudaism.org and especially click through to their Reference Center and its FAQ and the section on Proof Texts.

Messianic Jews aren't nearly as bad to me as J4J's are, but I just cannot consider a Jew for jesus an actual Jew. Not to mention, these people are loud, annoying, people trying to convert (For the most part), not teach...which sounds an awful lot like a lot of Baptist/other protestant kids I know who find out I'm Jewish...Hmm.
My religion came first, thank you. xd

I was wondering if anyone had any information as to how Jesus did his miracles...
It's always confused me, and I've heard a couple of theories.

I sympathize with Messianics just simply because I thought about being one of a long time, because I was raised Christian, until I realized I had no relationship with Jesus to begin with really... And anyway, I have friends who are Messianic and I know they aren't loud and annoying for the most part. biggrin

Thank you, everyone! It's nice to see a semi-debate going on here too. <3
So what's different between Messianic and J4J? Religously speaking, of course, not generalisations of the people. P:

[Monkei] Thank you, everyone! It's nice to see a semi-debate going on here too. <3
So what's different between Messianic and J4J? Religously speaking, of course, not generalisations of the people. P: Messianic Jews still practice Torah observance and are more culturally Jewish, unlike most J4J's, who don't even try to keep kosher (this is the pot calling the kettle black... sweatdrop ) or anything, because they're Christian based.

Most Messianics try to distance themselves from the street shouters that comprise J4J's. As a whole Messianic believers object to Jews for Jesus on the grounds that the organization seems to encourage Christian converts from Judaism to worship on Sunday, to not keep kosher, and to celebrate "Christian" holidays such as easter and X-mas - practices clearly forbidden by Torah.

I'm glad to see most people didn't loose their heads in this conversation, I'll give you all a gold star 3nodding .
I still haven't really understood the idea behind "Jews for Jesus". Basically it's Jews that believe in Jesus, right? sweatdrop So why are they different from Christians?

Well, Nathan, you've asked the big question there: What IS the difference between J4J, Messianics, and Christians?
The difference in a nutshell: They practice their Christianity with a sprinkling of Hebrew words. They wear kippot and tallitot. They call their ministers "rabbi," as if those ministers have been to rabbinical school or received true s'michah. And they swear that they were raised Orthodox Jewish and educated fully -- because, they reason, if they've learned it all and have accepted Jesus (whom they call Yeshua) as their Messiah, you don't have to study all that hard to know that Jesus is your Messiah, too.
Most of them don't realize that they're participating in a fraud. Those who do... I hope they have to answer for that.
