Toma didn't expect to be this popular with the young pup she had found. She hadn't been able to shake him since they met, although truthfully she was happy to have him around. He was a chamring young soul and she was in need of some company.
Looking around with her emerald eyes, she wondered where the little tyke had wandered off to. She layed down on a soft spot of grass, resting for a few minutes in the early morning sun. She hoped the sky would be cloudy today so she wouldn't have to protect her coat with mud again.

Ilizi was currently hiding in a bush, trying his hardest not to be seen by Toma, but also trying to keep Toma in his sight at all times. He was succeeding at one, quite well, but sadly not the other. His fluffy white tail was sticking conspicuously out from the bush he currently crouched behind, and for anyone who looked closlely one of his bright blue eyes could be glimpsed poking through the leaves as he kept it trained on his new friend.
Why was he stalking the older female, though? Simple. He was afraid, afraid of being alone again after he'd found someone who was nice to him and might look after him if he was brave enough to ask her to. And he was also a little afraid that her niceness might fade if he actually did ask. So he just slunk along behind her like a faithful shadow, because he simply didn't know what else to do. She was his only lifeline so far, and he didn't even know if she'd want him around constantly.

Toma looked around as she aimlessly cleaned a paw. She suddenly spotted a tuft of white fur popping out of the grass, and she held back a giggle. She preteneded not to see him, and kep on cleaning her paw. She wnated to help him break his shyness shell, and the only way to do so was to make him ask for assistance. She would obviously do anything she could to help him, but she figured this would be a good first step.

It was hunger that finally did Ilizi in. He hadn't eaten properly in so long, and the more he thought about his hunger (he tried not to, but it was persistent), the more he thought Toma might be able to help. He'd managed to fumblingly catch the odd rodent or snake here and there, but ever since following Toma he hadn't been able to find any leftovers left by larger carnivores. To put it simply, he was starving. After it seemed that Toma wasn't going to move for a while, he hesitantly made his presence known.
He poked his nose out of the bush, rustling the leaves, far enough for him to have his eyes out of the bush, peering at Toma. He looked both nervous and hopeful, not knowing how she'd react. Putting herself in his company for a few hours was one thing; allowing him to tag along was something else entirely.

Toma eyes traveled over to the sound of rustling, and she held back a smile as she watched him. He was certainly a cute little thing! Finally a large grin broke out across her maw, and she chuckled lightly, turning and sitting up to face him. "Well, Ilizi, it's about time." She said teasingly, laughing happily again.
With a graceful stride she stood up and walked towards him. "Now, how about we find some breakfast together, hmm?" She said with yet another smile. She didn't wait for a response before turning once more and walking out into the plains. She thought perhaps she could give him a hunting lesson. Hares and other small rodents were on the menu.

Spotted, he pulled back, despite her lack of hostility. What if she told him to go? He wouldn't, he couldn't, but what if she travelled faster than he could? What if she deliberately tried to get away from him? He wouldn't survive much longer like this; he hadn't eaten in days, desperate to keep up with her.
Her mention of breakfast, though, brought his head completely out of the bush, staring at her hopefully, dirty and thin. All his concentration has been in following Toma; cleaning his fur what little he did before had become unimportant.
"Uh..." he murmured sheepishly, "i-if... you wouldn't mind..." Hesitantly, he followed her, his walk a little wobbly due to his weakness. Staying awake more than he should and a lack of adequate meals wasn't doing him any good at all.

A grin crossed her face once more at the sweet little pup. "Of course, of course! Follow me." She said, walking slowly towards a small clearing. She was hoping to find something that he could catch for himself there; a lizard or a small rodent perhaps.
As they hit the clearing, Toma smiled with delight. There was a small family of mice sitting on a log. They scurried away at the sight of her, and she cursed her bright coat for the umpteenth time in her life.
"Now, Ilizi." She said with a smile, sitting doiwn at the edge of the bushes, "Did you see those mice? They are your breakfast. I'm going to teach you how to get them." Her kind eyes shimmered with happiness.
