Pink Rain Today

PostPosted: Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:58 pm

I am assured that many are sick of hearing of it and the cause but I do support gays, transgenders, and bi-sexuals.

I like boys AND girls, and have some gay friends. I know kids who want to be of another gender. And...I participated today.

I have been bashed, made fun of, and even some of my teachers didn't respect the purpose.

Two of my friends received zeros on their fifty point projects because they refused to speak.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subjects of such things, and whether you, too, stayed shushed on April 18th, 2007.

Two of my gay friends and a bi friend did that today

I don't understand the silence part - honestly I'd wanna ******** scream it and be proud. But I've got gay friends, bi friends, straight friends, I'd say transgender too but I honestly don't know any. xd And they some of the greatest and nicest characters I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Though not gay myself I fully support being with whoever the ******** you want.

Alone in the darkness trapped in your Pain...

To be honest with you, I didn't even know about it. o_O'
But l_e_g is right, people shouldn't treat you any differently even if you don't love the "right person".
Seriously, what's wrong with it?
Although I don't know anyone gay/lesbian, I support them.

I wanted to participate, but I forgot what day it was. Also, I was sick and didn't want to deal with s**t from my brother, who is the very reason for the word homophobe. Thus he doesn't know about my being bi...

And the grades thing sounds like something the teachers at my school would have done....had I been in school and participated. To those who did participate, good for you!

I participated, the teachers at my school were surprisingly cooperative.
Surprising because I live in the bible belt, lol.

I'm not gay, but I support. :]

I wasn't silent. I got a a terrible cold on the 17th and stayed in home for three days. If I was silent no one would have noticed, and I don't talk much anyway...
But I'm proud of you guys who were silent. As a terrified transman in a bible thumper's village, I feel much more relaxed knowing there are people who respect those who aren't straight as a lamp-post. I will try my hardest not to get sick next year!

For starters it is illegal for those teachers to fail someone's project for that reason. It goes against to ******** bill of rights to do that.

Anyway. I'm in total support of the day of silence. And it's not just about gay/bisexual/transgendered people, it's about all people who were silenced for their sexual orientation, gender, religion, beliefs, culture, race, etc.

Although, I have stopped participating. Mostly because all the people I know have turned the whole damn thing into a ******** game, now all the people who really care about it just stopped doing it.

How on Earth could it become a game?

Zavion
Being quiet in the face of oppression especially when you don't have to is basically like, if your kid did something wrong, trading in his assbeating for a trip to get some sundaes. Somebody tried to get me in on that last year and it appalled me that people would think that being silent would help them. If anything the fact you are silent means you can't even explain why you're silent so those not already gay and or in the 'know' about the day are just going to be confused at beast or offended.

Day of Silence is a huge failure of a protest.
This is from a similar thread in another forum I'm a member of and I think this guy puts it better than I could have.
Also, to clear things up, I'm all for gay rights. Love is love. It shouldn't matter which gender you prefer. I just can't see how Day of Silence would work.
