Lolovivi sat on a rock just outside the mouth of the den. It was pleasantly warm, and she sunned herself on it. The weather was gorgeous--sunny and only slightly cloudy.
Vivi was bored out of her mind.
She stared out at the gently waving grass and wondered idly what the landscape would look like if all that tall, itchy grass were to burn away. But if it did, then she'd have nothing to explore out here, and it would be even more dull.
Currently, her brothers were otherwise occupied. Tulivuu was napping peacefully, and Xerxes had been spending the afternoon busily trying to catch his own shadow. Their mother had stepped out some time ago to go hunting, and had left the pups with very specific instructions to stay within sight of the den. So Vivi lay on her rock, idling her time by watching the world go by and wishing desperately that there were other pups about.
She was stirred from her dull and idle state as something brushed past her nose. It was a pretty butterfly, floating on the wind. Vivi smiled at it brightly. Now this was a distraction! She giggled and hopped off her rock to chase it through the grass, completely consumed by this new entertainment. Eventually the butterfly escaped her by fluttering upward and catching a windcurrent, leaving Vivi to sit and pout. "Phooey," she muttered, then looked about herself. The den. It wasn't anywhere in sight. The little pup gulped.
"Uh oh."

She sat at a pool gazing down at the beautiful image she saw. It was her own reflection, and the most beautiful face on all the savannah. But something was missing... Carefully, Barazahi stuck one claw into the water, then put it at the end of her bangs and twisted them around- forming the most charming curl. Just the final touch of class the female needed to face a day almost as beautiful as she.
With a highly confident stride, the lioness meandered even further from her mate and her campsite. It was something she'd been told over and over not to do, but she just had to see the rest of the world. Once they got home, there wouldn't be any more meandering around like this. Only within territorial lands.
Her eyes slid across the lands pleasantly. "Such a beautiful day..." she said softly to herself. Mere thoughts of it's splendor weren't enough.
Her eyes then happened to fall on a black figure- small and un-feline. She started off in its direction, intent on finding out what it was.

Lolovivi saw movement in the grass and became alert, hoping that maybe someone was coming who could help her find her way home... maybe even another pup to play with! She cut through the grass in the direction of the figure she'd seen in motion.
Eventually she came to a clearing in the grass and caught sight of a much larger creature, unlike any she'd seen before. Then again, in her young life the only creatures she'd seen had been her mother, brothers, and assorted prey animals. This creature certainly didn't look canine. Whatever she was, she was staring right at her. Vivi's ears drooped and eyes widened, surprised. She looked about herself frantically to ensure that there wasn't anyone else about who the creature could possibly be looking at. But no, there was no one.
So Vi looked back to the lioness with concerned curiosity. She had no idea what she was, or what she wanted from her... and therefore she could be dangerous. Mother always said not to talk to strangers, but this lady was staring at her. It was making the pup uncomfortable, and she really felt she ought to say something.
"Um... hello?"

A pup... Raza thought to herself, wondering if it belonged to the rogue wild dog she'd met a while ago. Probably not- it had no white or red like the male had had.
"Hello," Barazahi said gently, hoping not to scare the pup. "I'm Barazahi," She introduced, "Raza for short, if you please." Her mother's words about rogues popped into her head, but Raza, again, ignored them. Not all rogues had to be completely corrupt... Especially not one this cute!
"What's your name?" She asked, sitting down.

Lolovivi shuffled her paws anxiously in the dirt, never taking her eyes of Raza. She didn't want to seem rude, but she couldn't help but stare, and she didn't dare take her eyes off the creature for a second, because momma had always warned her about strangers.
Raza introduced herself nicely enough, and cautiously Lolovivi gave a bow and allowed herelf to smile. Yes. This stranger didn't seem too bad. The pup relaxed and wagged her color-spotted tail. "Hello!" Lolovivi declared. "I'm called Lolovivi, but you can shorten that however you like. I don't care." She giggled a bit. She knew her name was a mouthful--she herself had a hard time saying it sometimes, and Xerxes often found it impossible. So she'd given up on caring what people called her. They could call her "Flower" for all she cared.
But she couldn't help but be embarassed, because she still couldn't figure out quite what her new aquaintance was. "Um... I'm sorry..." she began quietly, "But... I've never seen anyone like you before. Um... what are you?" She pleaded for an answer with bright golden eyes.

Barazahi chuckled a little at the pup, just from how cute she was. Young creatures of any species were simply adorable.
Raza would call her Lovi, since her short name was also taken out of the middle of the name. besides, she didn't think that either "Lolo" or "Vivi" were nearly as exciting as "Lovi." The other alternatives were simply too repetitive in comparison.
"I'm called a lion, there's lots of us about, just as many as there are wild dogs," Barazahi answered. "We're a bit different though," She added, realizing that that was obvious. She kicked herself in her mind just a bit for that fact.

((Oh my God... "Lovi"... why didn't I think of that before? That nickname is perfect! I'm going to steal it from you. xd ))
Lolovivi was heartened by the smiles and chuckles which emitted from Raza. As far as Lovi understood, smiles and laughter meant someone was happy, and if Raza was happy, then she was enjoying the company. Lovi's tail lashed cheerfully. She loved it when people were happy, it made her feel happier in return. Perhaps she was wrong to have been so suspicious of this stranger to begin with.
And then she said it. That word. 'Lion'. The little pup's ears drooped and her eyes widened. She had heard of lions but once. A while back she had asked her mother when she could meet her grandparents, only to have her mother explain to her that she had no grandparents, for a lion had killed them.
Anxiously, she drew back from the creature a bit. "Oh, I see," was all she had to say.

(( xd That's just what I did for Raza. *didn't like Bara or Zahi* I'm glad you like it. 3nodding )) A look of confusion made its way across Raza's face. Why was the pup suddenly acting so... cold? Did she reach a realization that she was lost? Or maybe that it was time for her to go? The possibilities were endless, and there was only one way to find out the truth.
"What's wrong, Lovi?" she asked, tilting her head and rising slowly to her feet. If something was wrong, Raza would have been more than happy to help. She had yet to realize that she was scaring the pup, and little did she know that her rising would probably frighten her even more.

Lovi gasped as Raza moved to rise. The pup found herself frozen in place with her fear, wincing ever so slightly at the lioness' movement. I should've listened to mother! she scolded herself. I shouldn't have spoken to this stranger! Now she'd gone and got herself in terrible danger, or at least so she thought. She hated to think what her poor mother would think to lose her only daughter in the same way she had lost her parents.
And with this thought, Lolovivi found the energy to bolt. She scrambled backward and, throwing up a cloud of dust in the process, turned on her paws and dashed across the grasses, diving and taking cover behind a rock. Here, she sniffled and wept silently, terrified and painfully aware of how far she must be from home.

This brought back memories... Long in Barazahi's past, back to her cubhood, she recalled such an incidence, except with an antellope fawn. It had run away, and Raza had come home and found solitude and was broken over the incidence. She didn't understand it back then, and she barely understood it now. Barazahi was blessed with a family that had no ills happen to them, except for her mother's frailty. Even that didn't pose too much of a threat.
Raza started the same way she had with the antellope, but this time she wasn't going to let the pup get away. She wanted to talk things through and understand. She started with Lovi's flight, and followed the trail of dust. She stopped short of the rock, and sat down a reasonable distance away.
"Lovi," She called as quietly as she could. "I can help you," She added after a pause, unsure if she really could or not. She most certainly could try her best.

Though not yet well trained in the ways of defense and of tracking, Lolovivi still found her ears flicking at the wind, picking up the near silent sounds of a lioness' footfalls. Lovi huddled up tight behind her rock, whimpering quietly. The lioness was coming for her.
But the footfalls stopped, just a short distance away. Curiosity getting the best of her, Lovi uncoiled herself and peeked up above her rock. She saw Raza sitting there, patiently, and she heard the lioness' offer for help. Ordinarily, Lovi would accept this offer gladly. Ordinarily, the pup wasn't so prone to being suspicious... indeed, under normal circumstances, Lovi had a great love for all individuals and a naive undying trust. This was different. Lovi had been raised rather fervantly thus far to fear and be wary of lions, and so now confronted with the first lion she'd ever seen, it was no surprise she had grown so suspicious. After all, the lioness was so much bigger than her, and she seemed to act a bit strangely.
Whimpering still, Lovi hollered at the lioness, "Go away! Leave me alone! You're not gonna eat me! My mommy will find you, and she'll get you back!"

"You're absolutely correct," She said without moving a muscle. Never were truer words said. "I'm not going to eat you, and if I did, I'd search for your mother so she could get me back." Barazahi believed that if one should kill another for reasons other than food, they deserved to die themselves. Such dark intentions should never be allowed to continue to exist- they would only spread that darkness.
"I'm not going to go away though," She said determined. "Not all lions are murderous, you know..." She wondered in the back of her mind how anyone could think that such a beautiful creature as Barazahi could harm anything... Her ego always snuck into every situation.

So there Lolovivi cowered behind her rock, waiting for the lioness to attack her for her spiteful words...
And then the lioness spoke and, confused, Lovi blinked and peeked up from behind the rock to see the lioness. She hadn't budged, and she spoke reassuring words that the pup had never expected to hear from a lion, not after all her mother had said. Slowly, she placed her paws up on the rock and pushed herself up until she perched upon it. There, she stared at the lioness, surveying her. "Promise?" she asked. For a child like Lovi, a promise meant everything, and if the lioness could promise that she meant no harm, then the pup could know for sure that she was safe.
She lowered her eyes as the lioness told her that not all lons are murderous. Sniffling a bit, she said, "Well... that's what my mother told me. And my mother's very smart, and she wants what's best for me, so I always listen to what she has to say." Then her ears drooped. Mother had told her to stay within sight of the den too, hadn't she?

Raza giggled at the pup- young ones of any species were always so innocent. It was a refreshing sight indeed. "I promise," she said sincerely. She listened to the pup talk about what her mother had said... Something must have happened. Poor canines... she thought to herself. She'd never had any bad luck as far as attacks- Angusho and Chuguu always made sure the family was ok. She grew even more thankful that they were there.
She finally rose, but didn't move, making sure that the dog wasn't scared anymore. "Do you live out here, Lovi?" She asked, tilting her head a bit.

When Raza made her promise, Lolovivi beamed brightly and finally made her approach. Promises are sacred to little children, especially honest and pure children like Lovi. She had no concept of what it was to break a promise. She sat right at the lion's feet, tail wagging away. "Are you sure you're a lion?" she questioned as she sat. "You're nothing like my mommy described. You're nice." She looked the lioness over quickly, then added, "And you sure are pretty, miss."
But Lovi saddened again when Raza asked the question. "Um... sort of..." she murmured. "Um... I live... near here... but..." She turned vulnerable golden eyes up to the lioness. "I'm a little lost, I'm afraid." She hung her head once again with great shame. How could she disappoint her mother like this?
