If you could have any guitarist as your teacher, who would it be? Mine personally is John Petrucci.

I fine with my current teacher bt if I could I'd say either Alexi Laiho, Dave Mustaine, Jeff Hanneman, and if he was still alive Dimebag Darrell (RIP).

I would have to agree with AZiaN Rocker and go for someone like John Frusciante or Tom Morrelo, or I'd say Matt Bellamy maybe (JF being top choice mrgreen ).
I could say someone like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai or Batio. But that just seems stupid to me. PLaying fast, difficult stuff like something they'd play takes hours and hours of practice. Even a master class with them wouldn't make you be able to play it. That's why I'd perfur someone like JF, not the fastest in the world, but ammazing at what he does!
But then again I'd retract this statement instanly if Hendrix was alive.

I would get the most of out a John Petrucci or Steve Vai lesson. I have seen a few yngvie things and he basically just shows people how to sweep and play really fast. Whoop dee do. I'd like to buff up my chord theory, learn how to speak with my guitar, not just wank off all over everyone in the room. Anyone with chops can do that.

Although Carlos Santana's my hero, I think I'd want to learn under Leo Kottke.

mine would probably be satriani because he could teach me how to play fast and technically good but also how to write songs in different styles and add variation to my playing.
