Definition of Astronomy: Astronomy is the science of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets, and galaxies) and phenomena that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere (such as auroras and cosmic background radiation). It is concerned with the evolution, physics, chemistry, meteorology, and motion of celestial objects, as well as the formation and development of the universe.
Information from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy [EDIT:]I want word of this thread and guild to spread so if anyone feels like making a banner for this thread just pm it to me then I'll paste it in here for people to use. Thank you.

This thread will be under mass construction for a while, but the preliminary discussions will pertain to astronomy, any and all of its aspects.
I welcome those who love to explore in astronomy and those who are new to it. The definition above is to help jump-start those who are new to astronomy. This thread is designed to pose questions and seek answers that one has about the mysteries of the Universe. As often said, there is no such thing as a stupid question, except a question unasked. The goal for this thread is to try and use outside sources besides the computer too find your answers. So let your mind lead you and your curiosities captivate you.
Discuss, debate, but most importantly enjoy yourself while you are here.

The rules are fairly simple and as followed:
1. The only official Mod(s) of this thread at the moment are: *`Zeke *Emily's_Gone_Mad (Obviously because she owns the guild.)
2. Follow Gaia's TOS.
3. Please, no advertising in post.
4. Try and stay on the topic of astronomy. (I'll be loose on this one.)
Repeated offense of the rules may result in being reported and dealt with by a Gaia Mod.

The first question I pose without anyone looking it up is your own opinion on what you think a black hole is? And do you think time travel is possible through it?

The best thing about where my parents live is that it's the country. We have no street lights there. Just the moon, stars and your porch light.

There was a book fair in my university not long ago. I bought a book that tells me wat constelation will be on the sky depending where ever I am (any hemisphere), date and time. It also gives me information about different comets that will be visible in x year. What else? Oh, it shows me when the next lunar and solar eclipses will be and from where they will be visible.
Last total lunar eclipse was visible back home and some friends of my mother took pictures. It was beautiful!

I really want to get back into star gazing, and with new telescopes where I can just put in coordinantes, that book would be a lot of fun to have. *takes a food break*

That is very cool! yes, I'd like to know the name of the book too, although, I'm sure if you head out to your local book store you could probably find some really interesting books on Astronomy.

xp It's probably not the best, I dunno how much it even costed. I got this telescope many years back. It's better then a binoculars, well most. I meant I can see the surface of the moon, but as far as telescopes go I've seen better. I really haven't found any other planets with it *doesn't know where the hell they are located*, but I could definietly use a better more up-to-date telescope. The telescope probably only stands a little over 24 inches? Alas, I am poor. Better telescopes = more money I don't have.
