Arthur Pendragon the Once and Future King...King bah! I can't even find Nimue and convince her to give me back my sword...all the studies and practice and for what? Well no more...those pretty eyes won't distract me from my real goal. He sighed and leaned over to scan the area below hoping to spot Nimue. Arthur ran his fingers through pegasus mane he felt secure enough to ride with no saddle and he was sure the noble steed would have been opposed to one anyway. He was on a quest to find the Lady of the Lake and have back what he felt was rightfully his.

The day had started early for Nimue that day. Rain had arisen her from her sleep. The gentle tap-tap-tap of it upon the water, while relaxing at first, somewhat irritated her once it started, seemingly, falling in buckets.

However. the weather had cleared and she floated quitely above the still water below her. Dangling her left foot down, she touched the water with her toe, watching small ripples roll away, increasing in size as they did.

Little did she realize that a flying horse and it's master were en route to her abode. The thought clearly was not on her mind in the least. She was left in her own world, wondering when it would be time, once more, to return home.

Arthur's eyes narrowed and he urged Pegasus lower as he spotted Nimue. He forced back a gasp, was she always so beautif-no no the sword he came for the sword. Any attachment he felt to Nimue had certainly faded with time hadn't it? He shrugged and braced himself back as Pegasus landed in gallop and slowed walking over towards Nimue.

The gentle thump of Pegasus' hooves on the ground, drew the attention of the silver haired maiden. She withdrew her toe from the water and gave a warm, but seemingly cautious, smile.

"Your highness." she began.

"You have returned." She remained afloat above the water, waiting quietly, patiently for what was to come next. Arthur had been gone from the world for so long now. It was strange to see him now. Odd for what she had been just questioning over the return of her home.

Was it an omen? Perhaps.

Arthur froze for a moment and looked at Nimue curiously he had to remind himself that any fluttering he felt in his stomach or heart were simply for his sword not it's current keeper. He slowly slid down from Pegasus and led the horse a bit closer before bowing to Nimue.
"My Lady...it's been a while..." but your as lovely as ever. He bit his words back and slowly stood once more watching her intently, she had to know what he was there for.

Did she know? Likely. However her expression did not let onto this idea. She was entrusted with keeping the sword and passing it onto he who was most worthy to keep the blade.

Was this young man who stood before her truely ready for such an honour. Not even an honour so much as a responsibility. Had his time away changed him?

This she could not tell. No. He would simply have to prove himself, if the sword was what he wished.

Pegasus strayed from Arthur's hand to nuzzle Nimue and lightly thunk his head with hers remembering her fondly from the long ago date.
Arthur cleared his throat and stepped forward. "Nimue...I came to find you, I came because you have...you have Excalibur, you know she was mine..." He went stiff for a moment a flash of the past racing through his mind. "I want Excalibur back...Anyway that I can prove myself I shall...I havent been isolated in vain."

Nimue gave a gentle pat to the large, white-winged horse. He seemed to have grown a bit since their last encounter. Although, it could simply be that it had been so long her memory was slightly fogged of his actual size.

"I see." she spoke quitely at the young man's request.

"For what reason do you believe that you are ready for, or even worthy of Excalibur? The past is simply that. It is the past and you are no longer the same man you once were. Therefore the sword is not necessarily meant for your hand now."

Arthur tensed and frowned. "Surley you know better then that, I still want Excalibur by my side to do good, not for any nefarious purpose." He sighed. "I'm no King here and now but Excalibur is still for my hand...you cannot keep it hidden away in your lake forever." He crossed his arms. "I've studied hard and worked to refine all my previous skills enough to be worthy to hold at least that small part of my past, I don't know what more you want that I can give, once I have what is mine I will use it to serve others." He watched her uncertainly.

Nimue's lips formed a thin line. "Skill alone does not worthy one make." voice voice held emphasis on the later part of her statement.

"I cannot give you the answer to what you ask, you must present the answer to a question you do not yet know." Nimue's glow radiated further and brighter from her body suddenly.

"You must return." her voice started to trail off.

Arthur frowned and stepped forward. "No! Nimue wait!" He felt the constant gnawing frustration at being denied but he didn't want to loose Nimue's company either. He tensed and stepped back his mind racing, he had been so certain this time...how could she continue to deny him what had once been his. Besides what was she doing with it anyway? He gazed at the Lake and frowned wishing he could simply go in and wrest it away for himself. He sighed and stepped back again knowing he couldn't, Nimue was right enough to know when the sword was ready. He looked down at his hands wondering how he would ever find a way to show her that HE was ready and worthy...that was the hardest part.

Nimue's eyes closed and she floated higher into the air above the lake. A breeze picked up and bustled about the two, it seemed to sing in Arthur's ear about a time all but forgotten to the world.

"Home." her eyes flew open and a bright light exploded, enveloping the lake, and the surrounding area in a warm, but blinding whiteness.

Arthur shielded his eyes with his arms and sighed slowly moving to look at Pegasus. He glanced back at the lake I missed her too... with a sigh he mounted Pegasus and headed out his mind more focused on Nimue's words then where he was heading.

If only Arthur had payed mind. Perhaps if he had, he would notice the peculiar aura that now surrounded the land. Perhaps he would notice that, beyond this lake now was a forest. Old and green and intimidating as the trees reached high up to the sky, praising some unknown deity of the sun.

Not that it would likely take long to realize, he wasn't in Kansas anymore.

Arthur blinked and gripped Pegasus mane as the horse reared in the air. "Whoa! What in the..." He looked around and realized why the horse had startled. They were lost? But how if he had only been flying for a few moments...and the trees were too tall. He slowly urged Pegasus down into the foilage and looked around hoping to spot something familiar.
