Bini was breathing heavily, pacing back and forth in the den that Uzu had provided for them. It was a rather small den and the soon to be parents would find out soon enough they would need a different den all together! Bini still had no clue she was pregnant though, and she was freaking out. Her moans and groans had died down to low, mourning wails. "Th-th-they're gunna ... .. they're eating me... alive.." She cried out, finally collapsing with another moan. She curled slightly as the pain hit her, another contraction. She gave out a little cry and a long whimper, only instinct had made her bring in soft leaves, grass and moss to the den.
She was breathing hard, not controlled at all, and she just wished Uzu was here. "Eating me... eating me.." She was mumbling, her eyes glazed over half with tears and half with sure madness!
How would she ever survive this?

The young adult male was not far away in fact. He had been searching for his mother but had failed. He had wanted to ask her about Bini's recent weight gain as he had been becoming increasingly worried about her. He still loved her - of course - but there was a concern that soon she'd be too fat to move.
He trotted home now with a bouncy step, a mouse hanging from his jaws. It swung back and forth with each movement and was dropped to the entrance of the tiny den.
He heard his mate inside anbd his heart clenched.
Someone was hurting her?!
"Bini!?" He forced himself part way into the den, sniffing madly. "Bini whose hurting you!?"

Uzu! She whimpered slightly and opened her eyes just enough to see that he was not actually in the den, he must have been outside of it. Or right in the entrance.
"Uzu... it hurts.." She cried out. Bini was no trooper, if she felt pain she was going to complain about it and certainly she always played it up for what it was worth. And having 13 little darlings inside of you, ready to get out, well that was a lot of pain!
"I.. i... i.." She took a deep breath. "I don't know what's wrong with me!" This was terrible. She was going to die! And Uzu was going to be frightened off... what if whatever was eating her on the inside ate through her and got into Uzu! Oh that would be terrible!
Suddenly she took a deep, shaky breath. She was trying to calm down as best she could.
Wait... wait... was something.. pushing out of her? There?! Oh this was embaressing! "Don't come in!" She finally called, shutting her eyes tight again. Great, she was hurting and going to be embaressed.

He whined and whimpered, pulling back out of the den and moving from side to side anxiously. His whines did not once stop as he lowered his head and raised it again, his large ears twitching.
His whimpering spoke louder than any other words could at that point but he felt trapped. He wanted to go and help her but she had said to stay.
What was he going to do!?
Should he just go in anyway? But would she be mad if he disobeyed her?
He whined again as he lowered himself onto his belly, ears flattening back as he peered into the gloom. "Bini! Bini? Bini are you okay?! I'm worried. Has the hurting stopped now?" He desperately hoped that it had.

Many moments past, filled with light whimpers and whines. She tried to block out Uzu, oh she was worried about worrying him and the pain was starting to become... normal? Not normal but she almost felt as if she was having an outer-body experience.
And then suddenly..
Life came from her. Well a little sac full of life. And when she turned her head to look at what was well.. what had fell out of her, simply put, her eyes widened and her panting stilled for a moment. She broke open the sac and started cleaning the baby, instinct was certainly a great gift to the animals.
It wasn't long before she had to push her little darling close to her body, the shooting pains had began again.
It wasn't long before more children were born..
 
"Uzu.." She called weakly. "Uzu... babies.." She called out. So this was how little wild dogs are born...

He had been lying rigid at the entrance of the den, whining every so often when he heard Bini inside. The pain she was experiencing seemed to affect him. Every sound she made he would flinch as if it hurt him.
He wished Kalpana was here with him and wondered where she was. Perhaps she was gone forever? His heart ached with loss as he remembered a dream that had come to him a long time ago.
He had been standing by the edge of the water and had arched his neck downwards to drink. Yet when he had sought his reflection he saw another dog staring back at him. The one in the water was distinctly female and had patches of peach and cream.
He had known her then as he always had, but the moment he had whispered her name, she was gone and her voice whispered on the wind;
Goodbye Uzushi, I leave you now but not forever. Soon I will come again in a new form, reborn all thanks to you. Goodbye... And that was the last he had seen or heard from her.
Then Bini's voice brought him back to awareness and he tipped his ears towards her. "Babies?" He called softly. "Where?" Had Bini been driven mad with pain?
He was on his paws again, stepping from side to side in his anxiety.

She was still panting hard and pushing, eyes hald open as she tried to watch the entrance. What did he mean where! "They're... they're.." She groaned.
 
Oh gosh this was all so tiring! Maybe it would be over quickly though? Already... six little darlings. Surely that was enough babies?
"There are babies coming out of me!" She finally cried out, though it sounded so funny to her that she started to laugh slightly as well. "C-come... come inside?" She wasn't really sure if he should... it was crowded.. "Be careful though!" She barked out.
She just wanted to sleep... but still.. why so many babies?

"B-but how?" He didn't need to be told twice and almost instantly he was scrabbling down ito the den. He paused to let his eyes get used to the gloom and was greeted with the most bizarre, surreal sight he had ever seen.
"Oh my gosh! Bini! There's little things all over the place!" He raised one forepaw and then the next as if he were afraid they would try to run up his legs.
"Babies?" He heard their tiny squeaks and moved closer, being creful where he trod. "How--why--where--who? Wha--?" He was just a little confused. "Where did they all come from? Where they biting you?"

Bini tried to calm down so she could answer Uzu but everything was becoming so funny and so... so weird! Maybe this was all some dream?
But he was right, they were all over the place... she didn't know this many babies ever came at one time. "T...they came... from inside of me?" She said, her tone quiet and slightly embarrassed. How had babies gotten inside of her anyways?
She shut her eyes and turned her head away from Uzu, groaning.
 
All of these babies! She was panting and her eyes were shut. "It's... not stopping Uzu.." She whined very lightly, afraid. It was like an endless void of babies inside of her! Her tail twitched slightly and her breathing was becoming deeper, more rhythmic; she wanted to sleep so much!
Almost... suddenly she felt like she was almost done.. She didn't know why or how she felt this, but she did feel it.
With two more big pushes..
 
And then nothing seemed to be inside of her. She was breathing hard still, but it was more relaxed. All of the puppies were cleaned and squirming against her still-big belly. Full of milk?
Bini's eyes widened slightly, she did not like the feeling of the babies suckling at her, but she tried to ignore it. Her eyes moved around slowly, landing on Uzu and not being able to offer any explanation at all.

"Well...I guess that explains why you were so...um...podgy?" He gave her a wide, toothy grin, his ears folding back a little. He knew that Bini had been a bit embarrased about her weight, but really he hadn't thought it bad.
She had been a good pillow!
Then it seemed like it was over and he lowered himself slightly.
He squinted, trying to count them. "One...two...three....four." He paused as he tried to make out the wriggling bodies and remember which ones he had counted already.
"Bini there's too many to count!" He exclaimed! "How did they get in your belly anyway? You didn't eat them by mistake...did you?" He peered at her, wondering if this was what was supposed to happen. "Maybe I should ask mum?" He wondered where she was.

She coughed and looked away, though she was a little pleased. Yes, maybe she wouldn't be so large now!
When he mentioned something or other about eating them accidentally she looked at him, her face horror stricken. "Of course not!" She half-screeched, sounding completely disgusted. "I .. I ... who could eat that many babies accidentally!" She actually didn't know how to eat one baby accidentally. She figured you'd have to be really messed up or hungry to eat a cute little tiny baby...
A yawn stretched her jaw and suddenly she rested her head down. "I want.. sleep Uzu.." she said softly, eyes shutting.

Uzu smiled and moved to buffet the top of his skull against hers, moving slowly to curl up around beside her. He shifted his head to rest it against Bini's shoulder and peered down at those tiny little pups. How they had gotten there he had no idea but somehow as he looked at them he came to realise something.
With him no longer blocking light from the entrance he could see the colours of their pelts. His eyes fell upon one that so resembled his mother. He saw his father's colours in them too, along with Bini's and his own. His own. Somehow, without knowing it, Bini and himself had created life. These pups had reflections of them in their fur, they were part of themselves.
"Don't worry Bini." He murmured, "However they got there I don't mind. I'm just glad they're here now." His heart swelled with a fatherly love for them and suddenly he came to realise. He was a father.
He tried counting them again, now that they were more settled and smiled softly as he came to his final count.
"Thirteen. Our lucky number."
He shifted to nuzzle Bini's ears and smiled. "You sleep now Binifu, I'll look over them." And as he scanned his darlings again, picking out their coats that were so brilliantly different, he saw one, tiny little girl who seemed strangely familiar.
Her pelt was peach and cream and somehow he knew then, that Kalpana had been reborn.

Changes happen so often.
The first born daughter, the oldest sibling of all thirteen of these new born pups, let out a small, but loud, squeak.
Blind and deaf to the world as she shakily cuddled up between her brothers and sisters, head nuzzled into the large being of fur that was her mother.
What was this place?
Everything was so much different, so much colder and everything moved too quickly.
All her siblings moving and writhing hungrily beside her while she fed on her mothers life giving milk, the first piece of nourishment in her life.
Atleast thing were moving a little more slowly now, but still, it was cold!
Why couldn't she have stayed in the warm darkness!?
Atleast this big thing fed her!

The eleventh pup out of thirteen. There were so many writhing bodies around her, the small pup felt like she was still in the warm, peaceful protection of the womb. But it was much colder...Maybe there was a draft? Except for this hard stuff underneath her belly. This was definitely not mummy's belly anymore.
Her tiny jaws cracking open, she let out a loud yowl, trying to pick her heavy head up. She was so tired...Crawling down that long tunnel had been such hard work. And she was so hungry. Instinct, such a natural blessing, let her breath in the heady scent of blood. Yet there were other perfumes mixed in there. Life. Mother. Food.
Inching along on tiny, soft paws, the tiny female dragged her way towards the warmth she instantly knew as her mother. Wiggling her way between her mass of siblings, the pup soon found a spot for herself and began her vigorous suckling.

Born in the middle of the little pack, the tiny puppy wriggled about amongst her siblings, having somehow ended up on her back at some point. It took a great effort to get back on her tiny paws and belly, fur still wet and slick from the birth and her mother's cleaning. It was cold. Where was the warmth and cozy place? It had been so comfortable and silent with the vibration of many heartbeats piercing through her minute sense of awareness. This new place was strange, and she was finding that she had to move herself, and quickly as a deep hunger grew in her stomach.
What was this hunger? Food had always been readily available, she had never wanted anything before. But now she wanted much, she wanted warmth and milk to fill her belly. Wiggling forward over the dirt, she pushed through her siblings with impatience before she at last found a ready spot for her. Latching on, she gave a contented sigh of relief. Her siblings were still pressed around her, and her hunger was being abated. She was content again.
