have this happen to anyone else; you start to read the last book of a series and then there are no more books in the series that you already read.
so you try to look at other books, but dont have the time or the money to get them. so what do you do. well this happen to me, so i ask my dad if i can read one of his books, and the books he have are scifi books, and i have them. but i when i started to read the book, called 'The Mote in Gods Eye' i really like it.
have this happen to someone else, they have no books to read or no money, that they start to read there parents books.

My dad is a big reader like me, and he's had more years to compile books, so he lets me read his

Yeah, over the summer I obviously can't get anything from the school library so my mom lets me read her books. So far I've liked them, and even found more of the ones that were part of a series at school when I got back. 3nodding xd

As none of my family read, I don't get the option to read my parent's books. If I'm in an extreme lack of book emergency, I usually just reread a series of novels, or a series of manga. That usually keeps me occupied until I get new books.

Since my parents are a good half-hour drive away, I'm more likely to check out my friends' bookshelves, if I can't find anything interesting at work. Gotta love working at a public library! biggrin

Yeah, when I run out of things to read I usually start looking through my parents closet. (that's where they keep all of their books) But since my parents aren't big readers, actually not really readers at all, there isn't a good selection. My dad only has Tom Clansy novels and my mom reads the Left Behind series. I don't really like either of these. Though my mom had some older mystery novels which I enjoyed very much. Though I forgot to give them back to here, and they are now currently sitting on my bookcase. But either way they don't have anything else for me to read.

Yup, just a couple of times though since I haven't run out in a long time (nor am I likely to anytime soon with over 100 unread books of my own). They were my mums, and the silly thing is I don't think she's even read some of them. xp Most of her books are non-fiction topic-specific (i.e fishing, mental health) titles I'm not interested in though.

wow, thank god that im not the only one that reads parents books, and yes i do go to the libray, but now im on like 5 or 6 books that r there i like to read at the libray.
and im still reading my parents books too, also there are good reasons too why buying the books arent part of the mix, but what if ur a buyer of books, that you only buy books to read them, and u have no money. thats a problem there, so whats the sloution for that

I tried reading some of my mother's books but I find them too sappy. Thankfully I have a few hundred (that's right, 100+) unread books of my own to keep me busy.

I would borrow my mom's books but she reads all those cheesy romance novels and my step-dad mostly reads my mom's books and books on psycology and neither of those really interest me so I typically don't.

The only books of my mom I read are usually the used book store rejects since I tend to take her books when she's done and sell them so I just take the ones the lady at the store doesn't take.

My parents and I have this agreement set up-

I am allowed to read any book in the house. And any book in the library. And any book in the bookstore. And any book that does not belong to someone else.

There is no such thing as 'mom and dad's books'. There are only 'books.'

heart ^_^ It pays off, if your parents are longtime hardcore science-fiction fans. heart

Books in my house are pretty much accepted as being there and up for reading. However, the rule is that you cannot loan out a book unless you ask everyone if they aren't reading it (my older brother is the reason for that rule).

I find I've read books that my parents, usually mom, have read or are reading.
