She sighed as she trotted a bouncy trot across the lands. Her boys were getting so big! How would she deal with it once they were gone? She used to pass her days by herself, but now... There would be a hole there. Now the prospect of being alone day in and day out scared her more than anything...
A scent drifted on the wind, but she ignored it, figuring it was some other creature... No way could another Maned Wolf be here, there were so few. She decided to ignore it and continue on for a bit. The smell faded in her mind, and she didn't really care about who was around anymore. She turned her muzzle to the dusky sky and let out a tone that told her feelings all in one- a haunting howl rippled across the grasslands. She cut it short and sat down, keeping her eyes skyward.

An earthy creature loped around, in a gracefull way, yet there was some sort of game to it, like the simple movement could be all the fun the male needed. He was in love. He was in love with the sky, with the grass, and every pawstep he took, anything.
It was just so great to be alive.
Not that he was always happy. Sometimes, as optimistic as the creature tried to be, he felt upset. Something was just not right.
His ears perked, and for a moment he froze, then frowned. That howl sounded so sad. But he smiled. Maybe he could do something. He continued moving, following the general direction of the sound untill a scent started to show, proving easier to find. Finally he saw something, and he dashed, letting out a yip. He was close, and he stopped, skitting, almost painfully across the ground, when he finally managed to stop, he was about two meters away.

Ammy's ears perked up as the sound reached them. She turned quickly to see the wolf bounding up.
Well this is awkward... She thought to herself. This is why you stopped howling, remember? She asked herself in her mind. Quite embarassed, she rose somewhat gracefully to her feet and decided an introduction may reduce the humiliation.
"My name is Amaterasu, Ammy for short. Who are you?" She asked.

"I'm Fumbi. " He said almost calmly. But he never saw others much.. He was sorta giddy whenever he did. He wagged his tail in a display of friendlyness, if that word existed, and ears perked, a playfull smile playing across his maw, he trotted quickly around the female, trying to see any wounds or reason as to why she'd be hurt, but all he saw were scars.
"Why didja sound so sad? " He asked suddenly, back infront of her, the smile vanishing for a moment, concerned.

Ammy couldn't help but smile. The wolf's energetic trot was infectious, and it reminded her of her pups.
"I have two sons," Ammy began, wondering how open she should be.
Ahh, what could it hurt? Fumbi seemed nice. "I wanted a family, so I went looking for a mate. I thought I found him, but it turned out he only wanted pleasure. He promised me he'd be my mate, stick around, be a father... He left me the next morning with pups in my belly," she said. "I got half of what I wanted. I really really wanted pups, and got my answer, but I also wanted them to have a father around. They're all I've got, and I love them with all my soul," she confided. "They're almost adults, I can see it in their eyes, their strength..." She looked up at the male's eyes. "That's all. Once they leave, I'll be alone again." She felt almost exhausted with the whole story.

He blinked, sitting to hear her story and frowning. That was so.. sad. He would never know how it felt to be a mother, just take one look down while you're sitting; THAT was proof enough.
"I'm sorry. " He frowned. How could some be like that? "Well, if you get lonely, I can always visit! " That was a catch about Fumbi; everyone was a friend, emmediately.

"That would be very nice," Ammy said sweetly. She was glad to have some company right now; anytime really. However, she felt it was his turn to tell her some about him. "So... Where do you live? I haven't ever seen you around the Pridelands," Ammy asked, trying to get her mind off of that male.

"I dun live anywhere. " He smiled, thumping his tail against the ground. "I been everywhere! But once I got stuck, 'n a leopard had t' come 'n save me. " He grinned, almost mischeviously, as if he found this incredibly amusing.
"Its real fun. " He smiled, liking to see every aspect of the world, all the way untill that endless water.

"Where did you get stuck?" She asked, starting to wag her tail as well. Fumbi had wiped Ammy's worries away, at least for the moment, and it was a great relief.
"I used to wander a lot too. My pack is far far south from here, and I just had to strike out on my own," Ammy told him. "I knew to come here because of the tales my mother wove of the place. It's truly a wonderful place, the Pridelands."

"At the thorn pach, its a ways off from here. " He smiled meekly. "There are caves behind it, I got lost in them. " He wagged his tail. "I used ta have a pack too! " He nodded, but sighed. "But they went looking for me and got lost too. But they didn't find a way outta the thorns. "
He shrugged. He had smelled them, but couldn't find them. He'd also found some blood, and there was no scent leading out of the thorns. "Its nice here tho! " He turned positive again, wagging his tail furiously. "Its all grassy. "

Fumbi's story was sadder than hers, but he was happier than she was! Ammy had to get over this fast. Look at it this way, they can go out into the world and make a difference! It's not like they're dying or anything, She thought to herself. Immediately she cheered up, and it didn't matter how much.
"I've never seen any thorn patch... Where is it from here?" Ammy asked, intending to tell her sons never to venture there.

"M'not sure! I was lost. " He grinned. "But it was sorta far. I think maybe that way, after the big rock. " He motioned in the direction towards the pride rock, wich looked more like a pebble now. Yet still, it was interesting.
"Its real big. And if ya get lost its hard ta get back. " He folded his ears back; he'd learned that the /hard/ way.

Ammy made a quick mental note of the place and filed it away. She'd be sure to tell the boys never to go there. "I'm glad you found your way out!" Ammy said sincerely. She'd never really gotten lost before. She'd always had someone with her whens he didn't know the way. To be honest, Ammy'd lived a pretty blessed life thus far.
She wanted to change the subject, though. "Have you had anything to eat recently? I've got a kill a little way away from here. You can have some if you want," she offered. She knew how hard it was for a wanderer, going from meal to meal.

He blinked. Food.. He thought back a bit, trying to think o the rabbit he'd had last. Hm. Maybe a couple days ago. That was natural for him, and he usually waited longer.
"I dunno. I had a rabbit bout two days ago! So I'm good. " He nodded, no wonder he was so thin.

"Alright, if you say so," Ammy said. She'd offered, that was the best she could do. Ammy was shocked at how scarcely he ate, judging from what she knew. She had an insatiable hunger, almost always. But she could only eat small amounts often, and managed to burn off the weight somehow.
"That's good," Amaterasu said, glad that he had at least had his fill recently. She'd hate to see anyone starve, or even just be hungry. It was an awful feeling.
