Things were too peaceful. It was just too perfect. Like the calm before the storm, something was bound to happen; she just knew it.

Dia glided in the clear sky, the only noise to be heard was her breathing and the occasional flap of her pinkish-white leathery bat wings, which kept her sailing high in the air.

The morning sky was cloudless, and the day was looking bright and beautiful. Spring was at its peak, and as much as she hated rivalry in beauty, even she would admit it was a glorious day to be out and about. She didn't care what other creatures thought about how a kalona should act. As 'evil' or as 'bad' as she could consider herself to be, even the 'evil' can have an appreciation for a sense of beauty.

"Look at me, for example!" she preened to herself, tossing back her pink and purple curls.

On most days, she could occupy and distract her worry or anxiety with admiration and self-gloating, but as of late, even her egotistical attitude couldn't suppress that eerie feeling creeping upon her. Something was going to happen; she didn't know what, but the premonition of feelings in the air told her it was nothing to get excited over.

Abandoning her hunt for a feathered kind of breakfast, Diabetia eyed a nearby clearing and swooped down to make a landing near the outskirts of the neighboring forest.

The uncomfortable feeling crept upon her once again, sending a shiver down her spine. At this point, she'd rather be on foot, in a more obscure place, than be flying high in the sky, easy to spot.

He heard the hooves pounding against the ground only yards away, but it didn't worry him. Hell, he didn't even turn to look at the intruder. Why should he give a s**t who they were and what they wanted? If they were stupid enough to believe they could take him on, then let them believe so. It would bring him GREAT pleasure to prove them wrong.

His powerful haunches shifted as his jaw clenched tighter on the doe's fleshy neck. His lips curled upward into a sickening grin as the blood began to swell up into his mouth. His teeth, rotting and chipped, ached continuously, sharp twinges of pain shooting through his gums and jaw. It was only when the blood and flesh of meat, fresh or spoiled, entered his mouth, did he find relief from the ongoing pain with its warm sensation soothing his mouth. So his hunger for relief was constant, though it didn't take much to fill his stomach. Anything to cross his path faced possible and probable death -- just for the sake to help ease the pain.

His body was rotting away, his wings and hair were falling off just as fast as they grew back. His body was covered in sores and blisters, swollen and disgusting to the casual eye. This was his form, though, and he dealt with it as he did.

Ripping a chunk of the deer, he began to chew on the tender meat as he lifted his head up and around to examine the creature who had invaded his personal space. His lifeless, hollow eyes peered out over the brush, only to be blinded by white and pink. A low, guttural growl emerged from his throat as his head began to hurt from staring at such a brightly colored creature. It took a few moments, then a wicked grin spread across his face in recognition. He actually knew this eyesore of a horse. This was going to be fun.

Taking a step away from the carcass, he left the remains for the rats and flies, his companions for as long as he could recall, and made his way towards the edge of the forest. It was time to get reacquainted with an old... friend.

Her ears twitched as the brush outlining the forest rustled. Her back was turned towards it, and she grinned. If a predator was attempting a rush to take her down, they had surely just revealed themselves now.

"How clumsy," she thought to herself, turning around towards the wooded area. She plastered on her typical smile and began to bat her eyelashes innocently. Perhaps she could replace her abandoned meal with a course of stupid lion or bear, whatever this predator may be.

Her smile, however, quickly moved downwards into a disgusted scowl as a foul odor invaded her nostrils. It smelled of rotting flesh, of waste, of death. The smell, as rank as it was, held memory in her mind... but it was impossible. It couldn't be. And yet, in her mind, she knew it was.

The sun, high in the sky, was casting shadows over the trees, long and dark at the forest's edge. In these shadows, though, a large daunting silhouette stood, towering over the smaller bushes. Hollowed eyes long forgotten seemed to pierce right through her.

She froze, watching the figure approach in a slow and lazy pace. Little squeaks alerted her view towards the ground, and a dozen or so rats ran about her legs, as if a welcoming parade was announcing the approach of the biggest event.

The shiver that had run down her spine had now become a constant tingle, her legs, her neck, her body, all numb. Overwhelming dread passed over her as she only had one word to utter through her dry, raspy lips.

"Plague."

He watched with smug satisfaction as the female kalona's face turned from an innocent grin into a horrified expression. He knew she wouldn't have forgotten him... not his Sweetness.

Drawing himself out into the sunlight and away from the shade, he knew all too well that being out in the warm sun would dry up the blood covering his muzzle, but it was worth the pain, this reacquainting.

His large dark wings drew back and hovered over his head, blocking the sun's rays from reaching his face. Although they were constantly molting, the feathers grew back quickly and could manage to keep the stallion in the air, should he care to fly at all.

Dark hollow eyes raped her body, and he ravaged her with his mind. She was just as beautiful as he remembered her to be, even if her colors gave him a headache with their brightness.

"Hello Sweetness," he leered, his voice gruff and dark.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 14, 2007 8:34 am

It was really him. He was there... only yards away. No wonder she had that awful feeling of impending dread, it was no doubt that he was the cause of it.

She glared at him as he called her by the pet name he had given her many years before. She wasn't ready to respond to him, not yet. She was still trying to get over the shock of his sudden reappearance back into her life.

Small grabby claws and paws scratched and clawed at her hooves, their mouths biting away, searching for food to gnaw on. Looking down towards the offending creatures, she raised one hot pink hoof, and slammed it down onto the back of one of the furry beasts, silencing its squeals and squirms with the sickening crunch of bones.

Her dark pink eyes rose, ignoring the multitude of rats now swarming towards the small remains, devouring their fallen comrade. Instead, they focused on the being in front of her, knowing all too well what could possibly happen if she looked away from this monster for more than a few seconds.

Her lack of response made his grin grow wider. Good. it was obvious that his arrival into this new land had gone unnoticed, until this little surprise meeting.

"No hello?" he asked, one eyebrow raised, "Or did someone finally rip out that sassy tongue of yours? I told you, Sweetness, it was bound to happen one of these days, with you smarting off like you do."

He grinned directly at her, his mouth of sharp, jagged teeth exposing themselves to the mare. He watched her glance down at his rodent companions, and sighed as she murdered one of the rats.

"Stupid, stupid, girl..." he muttered, his wings ruffling a bit as a light breeze blew by.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 14, 2007 8:43 am

"My tongue works just fine, no thanks to you." she snapped, baring her own sharp teeth. She wasn't going to let him bully her. Not anymore. She had left for that reason and now, with him having found his way here... she just couldn't. She wouldn't. It was time to stand up for herself.

Just like she knew he would, he didn't flinch or get upset when she stomped out one of his many followers. The value of life meant nothing to him, no matter who or what they were. Plague's only priority was for himself, and that was one thing that she knew would never change about him.

Her ivory cheeks flushed a light pink as she caught wind of what he had muttered. "The only stupid thing I recall ever doing," she said, flipping her pink hair to one side, "Is stick around your sorry self."

His dark eyes narrowed towards her. When had this attitude have time to develop? He had figured that she had remained just as sassy as she was beautiful, but it seemed during the time they were apart that this sugar mare had grown a backbone for herself. Instead of quippy comments meant towards others, they were now directed towards him, of all creatures. Her words no longer held amusement for him.

"Such hostility," he mocked, making little tsk sounds in her direction as he shook his head back and forth, "It seems you've forgotten your manners, Sweetness. Have you also forgotten who took you in as a foal and taught you how to hunt? Have you forgotten who you owe your life to? If it weren't for me, your little sugary self would be a pile of bones back in our homeland. No one else would have taken in such a pitiful looking kalona as yourself."

"Guilt trips won't work on me this time, Plague." she said, unable to meet his gaze. "I'm not a foal you can bully around anymore."

She proudly held her head high defiantly, though she was anxious and worried on the inside. Diabetia knew that she owed her life to this grotesque stallion, and it made her nervous that to this very day that she still couldn't understand why he did what he had done. Plague only took care of himself, so having taken her under his wing as a foal was very much against his haughty attitude and personality. She knew there was a hidden reason for him doing as he had done... some hidden agenda that she still was unable to figure out.

Although he looked ragged and torn up, she knew he was much stronger and much more terrifying than the appearance gave. He wouldn't hesitate to stomp her out just as she had stomped out the rat. She had seen him do it towards lesser fortunate creatures and Soquili, so she wasn't about to test her luck with him, despite the strength and power she had developed since she had fled her homeland. More than anything, she wanted to turn tail and run. She knew her limits and that didn't include overpowering this particular stallion. But she knew things could only turn worse if she turned her back tho him, so she stood and kept her ground.

Gritting her teeth, her pink eyes rose to meet with his hollow black ones. "What are you doing here anyways, Plague? Don't tell me you came to look for lil 'ol me."

"Still thinking the world revolves around yourself, I see," he drawled, his eyes meeting her's. One cracked hoof stepped forward, and he began a slow walk around the kalona, "I go wherever I feel like going, as you should know by now. My home travels with me, and I'm never out of place. There will always be monsters, but never monsters that look so... pink. You, Sweetness, have always stuck out like a sore thumb wherever you go, and that will never change."

He knew how self-conscious she was about her appearance, and took pleasure in using it against her. She had always yearned to be respected, but no one would ever give it to her based on her innocent, sweet looks, despite the fact she had been born and raised as the pure-blooded kalona she was.

"That land was barren and held nothing but dust and bones. I left for the same reason as to why you fled. Survival."

His teeth grinded against one another as his mouth ached from soreness of drying out. The scabs and sores forever covering his body ached as well, but his mouth hurt the worst. Sharp pangs of pain raced tormented his mind as his tongue searched every cavity of his mouth for sweet, bloody relief.

Finding none, his dark eyes quickly fell on the mare standing in front of him, and her ivory flesh beckoned silently to his mouth, tempting him.

"You've managed to become quite.... plump, since we last saw each other, Sweetness," he commented, moving around to face her backside, "Very appealing, I must say..."

Dia felt the growl escape from her lips before she could stop herself. He knew she was sensitive about her appearance, and it never stopped him from using it against her.

"I never asked to be born looking the way I do," she spat back, echoing a conversation that had been reiterated many times before. Her usual 'sweet' temperament had dissolved faster than sugar did in water, and she felt no reason to keep up her typical facade. "Do you think I want to look sweet and innocent? Why the hell would I want that? But there's not a damn thing I can do about the way I look, and I prefer, actually, to looking beautiful over the filth and disgust you are on a day to day basis. I may not look like every other kalona, but I can sure as ever act the part of one."

The rage of her outburst quickly subsided, however, as she noticed his hungry gaze aimed towards her. As he had begun his circle around her, she had made it a point to move around as well, not allowing him to look at her without herself facing him at the same time.

"I'm not some bunny you can snatch up and chew on," she told him curtly, knowing fully well what that look on his face meant. Her legs began to slowly move themselves backwards, itching and anxious to help remove the mare out of the dangerous position she had been put in.

"You're right, Sweetness," he agreed, moving forward as she stepped back, "You're by no means a rabbit. You are far more appetizing than a hare could ever be."

The rats around his feet were becoming loud and noisy, sensing their caretaker was about to perform his usual hunt for another meal. They, as well as the flies, knew he would always provide for them, despite the fact he never cared a bit for their presence. But Plague was after the blood, and enough flesh to keep his mouth from driving him insane, which left plenty of leftover meat for them to devour. Of course, when the stallion actually hungered for flesh, he would eat his fill, but they always had tidbits to thrive on.

As his wings ruffled restlessly, his mouth opened wide to form yet another toothy grin. "C'mon now Sweetness…" he teased, his eyes still roaming her body, "It's just a little nibble I'm after. Won't you let me fill my mouth with some sweetness for a little bit? My teeth having been aching for some sugar..."

She was far more than nervous now, and his intentions were more than clear. He wanted some fresh food, and he wanted it from her.

"Stay away from me, you son of a b***h!" she screeched at his face, only moments before turning around on her pink striped legs and bolting in the other direction. She prayed her legs would be able to keep a good distance between the two of them, because she knew her smaller form wouldn't stand a chance against the stallion's capabilities. Dia knew her limitations, and it would be nothing short of foolish to think she had a chance to beat him in a battle of strength or power. Instead, she would have to depend on speed and intelligence to beat out this opponent.

She did a mental check on her current state. Her heart was beating fast, ringing in her ears, her blood was pumping with adrenaline, and her muscles were screaming from the strain she was putting on them with her running. Nothing she couldn't handle. She was hesitant, though, to turn her head around, fearful of what she might find.

Shaking his head, yet still grinning, Plague was quick to take after the fleeing kalona. His own dark hooves trampled the ground beneath him, and his dark hair sailed in the wind, strands flying off as feathers fluttered to the ground.

"You can't avoid the inevitable!" He called out to her, his voice low and rough from the dryness. Such a stupid mare. Didn't she remember that he always go what he wanted? And it wasn't as if he was going to kill her... that wouldn't bring much fun at all.

His large black wings, still looming over his head, prevented him from being able to keep up the chase, having proved to cause far too much wind resistance. One mighty push downwards with them, however, sent him sailing into the sky, his speed gaining tremendously towards the dashing kalona.
