Kida opened her eyes as she dove beneath the surface of the large pond out behind the Castle. As she moved her hands back and forth beneath the water, and she followed a small goldfish that was darting to and fro around some seaweed.
Hello fishie, she thought, smiling. The young woman streched her hand out towards the fish, trying to pet it's tail.

The day was warm and Mulan had been wandering the grounds. Spring was here finally and the snow was melting away nicely. Soon the trees would be blooming with flowers, a lovely sight.
Sighing and taking in a breath of air, the sound of water moving slightly caught her attention. It wasn't overtly loud, but just enough out of place that it was noticeable.
A familar shock of white hair greeted her as she rounded the hedge to the pond, and a feint smile crossed her face. It was good to see her again.
"Kida." she called over, "How are you?"

A wicked smile crossed the woman's face as she spotted her old friend and she lowered back down in the water. She quickly shot back up, squirting a line of water at Mulan.
"Why hello there stranger," she said laughing. "I'm doing well."

"Hey!" throwing her hands up over her face, the water soaked into the arms of her shirt as she laughed.
"Nice to know some people never changed." she peeked over her wrist, making certain the mischevious woman wasn't going for round two of squirtgun.
"And it has been awhile, hasn't it?"

"Mmm," she agreed with a mouth full of water, which she let drain slowly back into the pond as she saw Mulan was watching her now.
"Whatcha talking about? I've grown up lots and lots." She shook her head. "Some people just don't have a sense of humor. So there."
She pulled herself out of the water, wrung out her hair then wrapped her skirt around her waist.
"What brings you here?"

"Oh, sure, you grew up. Vertically up." she plopped down next to her dripping friend and smirked.
"Just out and about. Enjoying the nice weather while it lasts." her eyes drifted around the pond.
"Although I've been told it's supposed to be pretty nice for most of the season this year round. What about you? What brings you out and about? Looking to take up fishing?"

Her pretty eyes went wide open and her mouth formed a large 'O'.
"Fishing?!?" then she laughed. "Oh, I see. You're making fun of me. No, just enjoying the water. It's a little cool, but still swimmable."
Her hair clung to her back and on her shoulders and she shook her head, trying to get it to unstick.
"Have you seen all the new kids running aroud? It's hard to believe we started out with so few only a while ago. Even my own family has grown from just Imbri and I to us, Jubilee, Maleficent and Lady L."

"Sharp as a rock I see." with a wink she nodded.
"Yah, it has become rather crowded with children. But it's also nice to see. They all seem so happy. It's a good thing I believe." she paused for a moment in thought.
"Times have changed quite a bit since we first found ourselves in this place. For everyone. It's a sin not all of the children will know the stories that we went through." a soft look fell across the woman's eyes.
"Heh, Avalon. Now that was something. Over two years since we've been there. Hard to believe it's been so long."

Kida laughed. "Happy? You haven't met Maleficent then, obviously." That little girl never seemed that happy to Kida. She was always brooding and plotting.
Her hand went to her crystal and Kida looked a little pale momentarily. "I had almost forgotten," she said. "That was quite a time wasn't it? That was before Aladdin lost his memory..."

"Yes, it was. He's changed quite a bit since then. Shame we never see him anymore. Then again, there are quite a few people who I've not seen in ages now." she spoke whistfully, drawing her knees to her chest.
"I doubt I will ever forget that place however. So much happened in such a short time. I was with Aurora, but she has no recollection of that time, from what mother says. For the best, I suppose, she gets a second chance at everything."

Kida nodded. She hadn't even seen Jack in ages, probably off again on some random voyage.
"Maybe we're just losers like that? Seems like only the new kids come around anymore, all the older kids that we grew up with have gone off on their own devices." She raised an eyebrow and glanced over at Mulan. "What'd WE do wrong?"
The white haired woman sighed. "Poor Aurora. And MacBeth too, I feel bad for him. I miss Aurora's friendship. She's a child again, and it's harder...and she doesn't remember anything about when we were kids together."

"We are all older and trying to find our own places in the world I suppose. It's not the same as when we were children and the most complicated part of our day was deciding what game we should play." she chuckled.
"I guess we just ended up with the luck of the draw." there was a light tone of sarcasm in her voice as she spoke then, "but ah well. The more we lose people, the more new people seem to show up. We're just relics I suppose."

A slightly bitter laugh escaped her lips. "I must have missed the 'finding our place' memo." She shrugged. "I'm still living at home with the other kids. Never tried to do anything about it."
She paused, then smiled.
"Isn't there something about respecting your elders?"

"Haha. There's supposed to be. I don't know how many of today's children hold true to that though." she winked and grinned.
"Kiliandra, mother's youngest, seems to have more attitude than manners. Hmm. Sounds like someone else I knew when they were small." a pause.
"Then again, how much of that has changed, hmm Kida? Or I suppose you don't know anyone like that." her face formed a smug look of amusement.

Kida's face was a mask of indifference, but she stared straight forward, knowing if she looked over at Mulan she wouldn't be able to keep a straight face if she looked at her friend.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, I'VE never had an attitude." She shook her head. "Nope, I don't know -anyone- like that. At all."
