What's an... Androanzi? The Androanzi were a part of Lugbara mythology, based in the area of Uganda and Zaire in the continent of Africa. They were children of the god Adroa -- The God of the Lugbara. Adroa was looked upon as being both good and evil. To the Lugbara, Adroa was the creator of the heavens as well as the planet itself. Unfortunately, he also appeared to those about to die. The father of the Androanzi was presented as tall and white, with only a half of a body. That's right, he only had one eye, one ear, one leg, one arm, and everything else that comes along with having only a half-body.
The Androanzi, as decedents of such a god, also displayed a form of duality. They were both evil and good, though tend to be represented in mythology as more of a nighttime danger than help. Supposedly, the Androanzi would follow humans, such as farmers, during the nighttime. The Androanzi drove potential harms to these humans, such as various animals and looting bandits, away and kept them safe, providing that the human did not look back.
If they did?
The Androanzi would kill them.
Needless to say, it was a better idea to keep ones eyes away from these creatures at all times. Therefore, they have no solid appearance to be found in the databases about these creatures--no one lives to tell the tale. However, it is known that when they were not following humans at night, they could be known to frequent areas with streams, large rocks, and trees.
It would be a wise idea to not approach one of these areas, especially at night. At night, if a Androanzi were to spot a human, they would pursue him or her all the way home. Nearing one of these areas could spell death for any human too curious.
After all, curiosity killed the cat.
The Androanzi were also protectors of various trees, streams, and rocks. They were each assigned their own, and were designated to protect these locations, being a type of demi-god of their respective piece of nature.

Meet The Child... Name: Amari Caulfield. Gender: Female. Race/Species/Element: Adroanzi.
Hair Color: Her hair will retain the dark color of black throughout her life. However, her hair shall not be totally black. It will have some moss mixed in with it, as explained in the distinctive markings section, along with a couple naturally midnight blue streaks. Eye Color: Her eyes shall be totally white, besides for her small pupils, which shall be the typical black color. Skin Tone: Amari's skin is a very dark brown. It is not so dark that it looks as pitch black as her hair, but her skin tone is very dark. It makes her eyes stand out even more than they did before. Distinctive Markings: There is some moss mixed into her dark hair. Reference Here. This moss may tangle around a few select pieces of hair, giving it the appearance of growing out of her head and giving her the illusion of a few ringlets when she has mostly straight hair. She also has a very odd marking on her left hand, developing when she becomes a toddler and remaining there for the rest of her life. It is simply a bright white outline of a circle on her dark hand. This may be thought of as similar, except the marking does not glow.
Likes: Amari thrives in any dark place, which means she adores the nighttime when stars are the only light. Amari actually enjoys the company of people, despite any future urges to kill them. Since Androanzi were very outdoorsy, Amari loves being outside, despite her guardian's dislike of the very same place. She also likes sunglasses. They make it possible for her to see better in the daytime. Dislikes: Sunlight and daytime in general make the young girl cringe (though she will have to deal with it to interact with others). The indoors get very boring for this little girl very quickly--Androanzis are protectors of nature, not ignorant of nature. Lasers intensely bother the poor girl; they're too bright for her. Finally, Amari despises all who litter or harm nature in some other way.
Hobbies: Amari loves to follow people around. She's a sneaky little ninja, and therefore can eventually do so without being noticed too easily. Creepy, eh? The girl enjoys collecting rocks, documenting them, and then putting them back. Only one significiant rock will she keep. Photography is a fascinating way for the girl to keep track of both nature and people. She enjoys whittling. It is a productive way to use nature and not destroy it--only make something beautiful. Surprisingly, the girl also enjoys video games, particularly adventure or roleplaying-based ones. Is it the influence of her guardian or the fact that adventures are fascinating to her? No one will ever know...

The Child's Got Magic! Night Vision: An ability that hardly requires explanation. As Adroanzi stalked in the night, Amari will have the ability to see clearly in the nighttime. As a consequence, bright, sunny days hurt the poor girl's eyes. .....(Notes: Pretty obvious. This will be an innate ability she is born with; Amari does not have to train herself to see in the night. She just does.)
Darkness Meld: The Androanzi are known for their ability to stalk in the night. During the nighttime hours or dark times and those times alone will they follow their selected human to safety--or to the human's death for being too curious. Therefore, Amari will be able to merge into the darkness. In dark locations, she may chose to become one with the darkness for her own purposes. .....(Notes: This will probably be her first learned ability. Her ability to shift to become one with the dark will grow longer-lasting as she grows older. At first, it may only last a few minutes, or longer if she holds no control over it.)
Pet Rock: The Androanzi were not only nighttime stalkers. As children of Adroa, they also protected the nature that he created in the myths. In her past life, Amari was the protector of a rather large boulder. What does that mean for Amari today? Basically, Amari will be fiercely protective of one solitary rock. When she feels the rock is threatened, she will gain an adrenaline rush and attack the aggressor until said aggressor leaves her rock alone. .....(Notes: When she gets a hold of this rock, it'll be a significant event in her life because she probably will never part with said rock, unless she is given something by her past form which will become more important to her. (In that case, this ability would apply to said new object.) Point is, people should stay away from her rock unless she trusts them very much, unless they enjoy having adrenaline-rushed girls pounce them and attempt to beat them up. If that's so, by all means!)
Ninja: In order to stalk, Androanzi cannot be loud and obnoxious. Therefore, Amari will gain the ability to be uncannily quiet and sneaky when pursuing someone. This will take training, and probably will not be extremely effective at first, but with proper training, Amari will become a creepy little ninja. .....(Notes: I think this needs no further explanation.)
Protector: Androanzi were not all that bad, really. They only followed humans during the night to protect them, and providing the human was not too curious, Androanzi were brilliant protectors. Amari, too, would be a brilliant protector during the nighttime. If Amari feels attached to a certain item or living thing, she will become fiercely protective of them during the nighttime hours. This protection will involve her following the said person or thing. If she feels that said object is threatened any way by outsiders, Amari will attack until said threat leaves. This protection only lasts, however, as long as said thing does not turn around to look at her. If said thing does look at her, Amari will scram. .....(Notes: I think is pretty much a given. Don't turn around, and Amari will be a little protector. If you do, she'll run for her life. Later in her life, Curiosity Killed The Cat may become part of this.)
Curiosity Killed The Cat: Adroanzi, in the night, killed the humans who turned back to look at their mysterious protectors. Starting at her teen stage, Amari may feel the odd urge to kill any small animals caught looking at her during the nighttime, and may even act on such an urge in a few select cases. As she grows into an adult, she may gain the ability to briefly paralyze any human or large animal who looks at her in the night. Only at full power will she be able to kill a human that looks to her in the night, and she may not even be successful. .....(Notes: I will be very flexible with this ability. It will also be the last ability of hers to manifest, and full power will only be reached if she obtains the mysterious Ancient stage, and at no other time, unless this ability is needed for plot purposes or an arrangement is agreed on beforehand. Also, the way this develops may have to do with her personality. If she is a friendly creature, she may be able to resist this killing urge more easily than if she is a violent one.) The Child's Appearance? Wand: Amari's wand should be a polished, pitch black. Therefore, the wand will appear to shine in the light, but it is purely black. The wand was crafted from a sort of stone. At the top, there are what appears to be five small claws holding a jagged piece of what was a large, light grey boulder in their confines. These claws are a slightly lighter color, midnight blue. The light grey stone will lightly glow while the child is still trapped within the wand.Baby Ghost: The baby ghost should appear as a midnight blue mist, with a few spotty whitish spots. It is hard to distinguish any features from the baby ghost besides the fact that it's... well, a mostly midnight blue baby ghost.
Baby: As a baby, Amari does not have very long hair. It only reaches the nape of her neck at most, and is very straight. At this stage, there is very little moss in her hair, perhaps only five strands at most. Her white eyes are her most piercing feature, and will continue to be throughout her life. The baby enjoys very colorful clothing, making her guardian buy her tie-dye shirts whether she wants to or not. Amari usually wears a simple pair of shorts with these t-shirts, typically in red, another loud color. Amari despises shoes and puts up a fit if her mother puts them on her. Therefore, Amari is typically seen without shoes.
Toddler: Her hair continues to be very straight, but has gotten a bit longer. It now goes to her shoulder blades. A few more pieces of moss have appeared, and they are beginning to curl a bit. The toddler's clothing tastes have no changed much since being a baby, though now she agrees to wear overalls when going outside. Still, Amari refuses to wear shoes. An odd marking has developed on her left hand during her growth. It resembles this, except it does not glow. It is simply a ring of bright white on her dark hand.
Child: At long last, the child cooperates! Her guardian has convinced the child to wear sandals. They are Velcro, and are midnight blue with a white swirly design on the side. Her hair now goes to her mid-back, but no more moss has appeared. The moss that is there is starting to curl like ringlets, however. Finally, the child has started to gravitate towards more earthy colors. Instead of tie-dye, Amari would much rather wear a forest green t-shirt and overalls. The strange marking that appeared last stage will remain. She also at this stage gains a pair of sunglasses. They resemble these sweet things, and she keeps them on a blue chain that hangs around her neck.
Teen: Amari now has ringlet moss and straight hair otherwise. Her hair remains at her mid-back. The mark on her left hand is still as apparent as ever. Along with her eyes, these are her most piercing features. As a teenager, she has grown out of overalls. The Androanzi now prefers to wear simple, cotton, dark pants that cut off above her ankle. Her t-shirts remain in earthy colors, a favorite being a dark forest green. The child has become rather slender (but still somewhat curvy), to help her when sneaking around. Finally, she still wears her sandals. They are still midnight blue and Velcro, but do not have any designs. Her sunglasses remain on the blue chain around her neck.
Youth: Amari tires of sandals, and therefore no longer wears shoes. Her guardian has given up by this point. Amari's hair has finally gotten a bit longer, now reaching her waist. Her moss is longer than before and curls all the way down. Her fashion sense has basically stayed the same from her teen stage, though now she prefers flowing, loose pants that resemble gaucho pants, except her pants are longer and reach the ankle. Amari now prefers to stick her sunglasses in her hair as a type of hair band when not in the light.
Adult: Her appearance has not changed much from her youth stage. Her hair is still the same length, with the same amount of moss, and with the same sunglasses/hair band. Now that she is at her adult stage and her powers are further developing, her eyes are downright freakish in the dark. Physically, she has obviously matured. She is still slender, but much more curves have appeared. Her fashion sense remains geared towards the earthy. Amari still likes to wear dark gaucho pants, though now her shirt sleeves typically reach her elbow and are longer on the bottom. She is also fond of v-necks and belly-button revealing shirts--Amari likes feeling as natural as possible.

The Child's Personality! Baby: Babies are typically nightmares. Screaming all day, crying all night, needing food, needing a change, needing this and that... Ugh! Amari, however, is not that bad. Though she whines like the typical child, she seems to be more fond of exploring or playing than crying about everything. Though, do not bring her in the sun or give her shoes. Then, she will cry. And she'll cry loud. Thankfully, Amari mostly gets her way (because her demands aren't really that bad), and she remains a generally cheerful, curious baby.
Toddler: Her curiosity is never-ending. The child seems to be fond of finding out everything about anything and everything. It's a bit unfortunate; her guardian wishes that Amari would remain out of her stuff. That, though, will not happen. At this stage, an odd possessiveness over everything dear to her starts to settle in. Though she is a very friendly child, and very outgoing too, if her "possessions" are threatened, she lashes out violently, or as violently as a little Adroanzi can, anyway. Eek. But, as long as one stays away from her possessions, Amari remains an outgoing and happy little overly curious toddler.
Child: Could this child be any more protective? During the nighttime, Amari has grown fond of following or stalking everyone dear to her. It is not only a protective instinct, it is also a somewhat annoying hobby of hers. Anything that seems somewhat threatening to her possessions, Amari will continue to lash out violently at. By this point, she has become a very nocturnal child. Light is her enemy, nighttime is her love. However, she does go out in the daytime, but not without her beloved sunglasses. Despite becoming a creepy stalker type, Amari makes a wonderful friend. Showing her good side, Amari is probably one of the most trustworthy people one will ever find. Just don't question it, and don't turn around to look at this nighttime protector...
Teen: Now the child knows why she died. During this rocky time in her life, her trust in the ones she loves most will occasionally falter, perhaps even to the point she wonders why she lets them live. When not contemplating the death of all she knows, Amari is still a stalker. A protective stalker, certainly, but just because she is protection makes her no less of a stalker. She enjoys following people around at night, even people she doesn't know. It can be rather creepy, especially since she has gotten good at silent creeping. Nevertheless, Amari is still one of the most trustworthy people around. Those close to her just better not watch their backs while she grapples with her new reality. At this stage, she will concentrate intensely on developing her powers. She will also work on stifling her human curiosity, with uncertain results.
Youth: She's died before, and she's alright. Amari simply won't let the same happen again. No, she won't falter in anything she does. Now, Amari has become very confident in herself, not quite to the point of ego. The Androanzi is very self-assured in everything that she does. In every friendship she makes, Amari will be trustworthy, loyal, and fiercely protective. However, if she senses any sort of wavering in the trust on the other side of the relationship, Amari will immediately end the relationship before her past repeats itself. The reborn Androanzi will become very aware of the warning signs of lack of trust that may leave her in danger. Unfortunately, she will scram at even false alarms. She follows both strangers and friends in the night at this point, being more protective towards her friends. Amari can find fun in both activities, but she can't yet help feeling a bit destructively mischievous when following strangers around. Despite that, she would make a good designated driver. Amari was never curious enough to try alcohol...
Adult: A powerful, confident adult. Amari has trained herself extensively to the point that she feels her power is part of what makes her who she is. Amari is self-confident, self-assured, and yet, still a somewhat friendly being despite her strengthening urges to kill what looks at her in the night. As a mature adult, she has become a very outdoorsy woman, much preferring to sit outside and whittle or observe nature than sit inside and laze about. In these years, Amari has become very focused. She has to be, to be such a stellar stalker and one who has become so acutely aware of the slight signs of distrust. Despite her strengths, she has many inner demons she likes to keep hidden. Why does she feel so murderous at night?

In The Past... Highlight if you're curious. :3 Spoiler Alert!
How could she?
That dreadful night when such an alluring man, woman... whatever it had been now, it no longer mattered. That dreadful night! The first time the person strolled by, she could not help but to follow. She had to. The person was so deliciously intriguing compared to the others she had seen. Unique, with white streaks in their hair and such bright eyes. She needed to follow them as if they were the pollen of a flower and she was an eager, hungry bee.
Why did she ever follow? Nothing seemed particularly different to the person with white hair and bright eyes, but to the Adroanzi, it did. Of course, Adroanzis always followed people; 'twas in their nature. It was not exactly in her nature, though, to become so intrigued by the quiet one. She should have known it would be nothing but danger to let herself be intrigued so intensely by one person, especially when the person was hardly curious.
Every night she followed, never noticed. The odd human never noticed her! She could admire it from afar and protect it from such creatures and bandits and never be noticed. Oh, it was perfect for such a curious Androanzi. Plus, there was no reason for her to kill such an intriguing human. If it turned around, she would have to, but the human was so seemingly unaware that she never had to think about it.
The dark nights wore on, and the Adroanzi learned more. The person was called by the name Anguma, meaning 'I am the one who hates.' She came to realize that it was a male of a Lugbara tribe, as well as one of the tribal elders. He seemed to possess utterly no fear of the unknown.
Perhaps, that was what roped her in. For once, she had found someone who did not turn around to look to her. He possessed no fear. It was too fascinating! As her siblings had told her, and as she had learned, humans possessed a deep rooted fear of the unknown and poisonous curiosity leaked through all of their pores. Why was this Anguma so uncaring about her nightly stalking?
Such a curious man must be followed.
Anguma was a tribal elder, a wise one, in fact. Unfortunately, he was still of human blood. Human blood contained a curious drive similar to the one that was keeping the Adroanzi's eyes trained on his back. The silly human brain would eventually make the undaunted man cave, and indeed, he did.
He turned around.
The human named Anguma turned around, and the unsuspecting Androanzi never looked away. The Androanzi stared straight at them, and they met face to face for the first time. He gasped in horror upon seeing the creature, but she did not pounce.
She had been following him for months, and now he turned around. It was the end of the Adroanzi's foolish games. Why was she frozen? Kill him now!, her subconscious yelled for the attention of the foolishly curious Adroanzi. Now! The daughter of Adroa must kill this man!
...But she just couldn't. She couldn't kill him. Not after so many nights of holding her curiosity, weaving for her intriguing stories with just the way he moved, dropping all sorts of fascinating objects which she picked up in his path; no, she couldn't kill him. All she could do was sit there, frozen, as if she was stunned by a p***k in the buttocks.
Her luck had run out. Anguma could still move, and so he did. While his mysterious and until recently unknown protector was frozen in shock, he grabbed her arm and pulled her back to the village. By the time she realized what was going on, it was far too late. Why, squirming out of his grasp was pointless when she was surrounded by those of this Lugbara tribe he was the leader of. No, she would have to kill him, but there were simply too many around to get it done without being killed herself...
"We have found the Androanzi! Those that kill our people at night!" Anguma announced, receiving a gasp from those around him. "And now, for the sufferings of our village!" It was far too late. Oh why, why did she ever let herself fall to the same curiosity as simple humans? She shut her eyes tightly, only opening them when the pain of the deep circular mark on her hand reached her brain. The tribe had marked her for her sins in their own way.
A bright white circle burned into her hand. The circle was never ending. The cycle of hurt, the Androanzi supposed, was never ending either, but perhaps the beginning of the long awaited end had now been found for these people, with her end. True, she was only one of her many, many siblings, but this was the beginning of the end of the cycle of death the Adroanzi caused.
As his tribe had suffered at the hands of her people, she would suffer at the hands of his people. It was only far. Revenge was sweet, after all, and the people were avenging their fellow siblings and allies within the tribe. They threw the helpless Androanzi to the animals, who had already resigned herself at being discovered.
There was no honor in going back, and there was no honor in fighting this. Only delaying her death would anger the tribal people, and they would only send more vicious beasts. Adroa would not be pleased with her upon her return, nor would her siblings. What shame!
Why didn't she kill Anguma on the first night? Why was she ever curious?
The Adroanzi at last resigned herself, letting herself become the feasted.

What The Guardian Actually Lets People Know... Name: Doctor Amaranta Caulfield. Gender: Female. Or something like that. Race/Species/Element: Ordinary Immortal Human. (...Wait, what do you mean, "That's not ordinary?") Age: Fifty-two, but the doc doesn't look a day over thirty.
Hair: She has bright red hair, earning her the name carrot-top--and with reason. Her hair is perhaps her most distinguishing feature because it is so bright. It's typically straight unless she feels the need to curl it for whatever reason, which she doesn't usually. Eye Color: Her eyes aren't too fascinating. They're a simple brownish color, appearing brighter in the light and darker in the, well, dark. Since Amaranta is usually wearing sunglasses when outside, it's a bit hard to tell her eye color if one is just meeting her on the street. Skin Tone: Pale verging on sickly. It must be because she never goes outside... Distinctive Markings: Being a nerdy child, she never exactly got many distinctive markings simply because she never went outside and got scarred. However, being part-Italian, she does have what are called beauty marks, or various brown specks on her pale skin.
Likes: Computers, Video Games, PC Games, DVDs, Consoles, Internet, DDR... You name it, if it's electronic, she loves it. Most of her loves are electronic. She, like Amari, loves darkness and nighttime. It's a bit easier on her eyes, and, at night, she feels energized. The doctor also can't live without her music. Without music, life would be awfully dull. She also enjoys art and creativity in general. And rainbows. Don't forget rainbows. Dislikes: Amaranta can't stand the outdoors. She has too many outdoor allergies and doesn't see what's so interesting about it. She loves rainbows, but she finds too much tie-dye obnoxious. Perhaps it is because she mostly wears lab coats anyway. Amaranta dislikes ordinary or common names. Sometimes, though, if a common name is not on the Top 100 list and is very interesting, she'll like it.
Hobbies: Well, she's a doctor. To say that does not have an impact on her free time would be utterly laughable. When she does have the spare time on her hands, she's a computer addict. If handed electronics, she will probably be in her happy place. She spends her days playing video games as well, some particular favorites including her only actual form of exercise, DDR. She's also a geeky type, and so she loves to sit around and watch television shows that others would readily dub nerdy. Ah well, she doesn't care.
History of Some Sort: Doctor Amaranta Caulfield does not say much about her past. She finds focusing on such things ridiculous, after all. She does let the obvious go, though. When she was twenty-two, she entered medical school. Naturally, she was thirty-four when she finally graduated with her doctorate. Since then, she has been a doctor. ...And, honestly, she refuses to tell anything else. Secretive, annoying, or just finding the past useless? Who knows.
