Kiefer kicked a little stone across the field. It made a little click noise when his little hoove collided with and hopped a few feet before being entangled in grass and brought to a halt. He followed after it, and kicked it again.
He had never been one to entertain himself on his own: Kiefer was a VERY social foal. When another wasn't around, he could only resort to medial and boring games that only made him long for another friend. He had met quite a few of awsome filly-friends, and they were plenty of fun. He wouldn't mind meeting more, but he did have a longing to meet some colts like himself.
He felt so boxed in! At home, his mom and two sisters seemed to overpower himself and his father. With friends, well they were all fillys. He wanted another colt friend, because even though he liked his filly friends, he always thought they were on different levels. Not that they were less, or he was less, it was just that it was harder to realate!

Amaroq had darted off as soon as he could manage it, itching to explore this world he'd emerged into and completely confident he'd find his way back when he needed to.
Pretty boring so far though...trees, rocks, birds, critters...but nothing like him! He wanted to meet someone, and talk to them, maybe play. Of course, to a colt like Amaroq that meant proving his assumed superiority. He wasn't quite arrogant...but he was close.

Kiefer was becoming rather desperate. He could not stand being alone like this...maybe he should have stayed and played with his....sisters. He loved them so much, but eventually you have the need to meet new people.
"Hello? Is anyone around" He said finally, stomping on the ground in frustration. There must be a colt somewhere that he could play with! Mama and Papa said that there were TONS of colts and fillys around here, so why was it so hard to run into one?

Ears pricked and icy blue eyes gleamed with interest as Amaroq heard the call. A stranger! Mom and dad had warned him about skinwalkers and kalonas, so he knew he should get away if this was one...but it wouldn't hurt to look right?
Besides...he was Amaroq! He could take care of himself. "Yeah, who's asking?" he hollered back, snorting as he galloped in the direction of the voice.

Kiefer stood still, waiting for a responce...and...ah! One came! What luck! It took him only a secound to sense the rather...unfriendly tone in the voice. His ears pricked forward slightly.
"What are....you doing here?" he called out, trying to make it sound like he had been yelling to make sure no one was around, Kiefer certainly wouldn't be kicked around...even if it could possibly be a mean horse.
"Why dontcha come out....what are you....scared?" he asked, once again trying to make himself intimidating.

Ohohoho. Amaroq's ears pricked and muscles tensed as he kept galloping, until he saw a yellow-striped...colt? Lowering his hindquarters he skidded to a stop, halting in a spray of dirt and grass. "Scared? Not bloody likely," he declared, proudly tossing out a curse word he'd heard mom let slip. "I'm here because I was bored, that's why. Bet that's the same reason you're here." He tossed his head with a grin, certain of being correct.

Kiefer felt the specs of dirt hit his golden legs. Oh man...it was on.
"Well, you should be scared" said Kiefer, flipping his mane a bit and chuckling. "I got tired of hanging out with my sisters...so I left" he said, not afraid to exaggerate a bit. He didn't need to be nice to this colt.
Kiefer had never met someone that was unkind to him before, but he was ready. He might have inherited a good amount of personality from his mother, but her certainly got one thing from his father: His temper.

"Sisters huh? So you've got more than one...that must suck." Amaroq laughed, icy eyes gleaming. "I've only got one sister. BUT...I also have a brother." He nodded smugly, flicking his tail from side to side. Amaroq certainly didn't get his attitude from his sire, even if he'd borrowed his coloring. It didn't quite come from his dam either, but it was closer to hers than to dad's. "Why would I be scared? You don't look any stronger than me."

"Not really...I like my sisters, and I can lead the way and protect them" he said, not willing to denounce his family, even if he had gotten tired of them occasionally. "They get boring sometimes...but so does everyone"
"Well, I'm older" he declared, not entirly sure if it was true, but he knew friends from his childhood were growing up, and he was probubly going to do that too soon. "You would be surprised" he said, straightening up.

Amaroq snorted doubtfully, shaking his short dark mane. "Dunno about that. Mine has Dad protecing her, and the rest of the herd too, so I don't have to worry about it." He circled the other colt, narrowing his eyes as he looked Kiefer up and down. "You don't look older...what's your name?"

"Sometimes my Papa isn't around, so I'm in charge of makin sure nothing gets them...." he said proudly. The girls could fend for themselves just as easliy as he could, but wern't as willing to be agressive as he was.
"My name? Kiefer." he said, watching the other colt carfully. He didn't look so tough...."And what is yours? Hmm?"

"Amaroq," The dark colt stated proudly, with a little arch of his neck. "It means wolf, like my dad's name does. That's cause he looks like a wolf, and my colors look like his." Maybe not exactly like his, but he wasn't about to tell that to a stranger. A stranger didn't need to know that while his brother Kaji had mom's colors, he looked alot like dad. Miri looked like mom, which made sense. "Does your name mean anything, huh?"

"Mine dosn't mean anything, my papa decided it should be it, and I like it" he said, not really wanting to bring his father to much into this.
There was plenty he could say. That his family was huge, that he had six aunts and uncles, six cousins, two parents, two sisters, and two grandparnets. But for once he wanted things to be able him, and not about his family.

"So it's just kinda random? That seems weird." Then again, mom's name didn't make much sense, but he wasn't about to admit any of his family had a name that didn't seem to mean anything. Part of it had a meaning at least, and that was good enough for Amaroq. He danced sideways a little bit, a challenging gleam in his eye. "Still bet you're not stronger than me."

"Well you are a colt, named after a wolf? That dosn't make much sense" he said, a bit of edge to his voice. Boy, this colt was just looking for trouble, wasn't he?
"How do ya figure? I am really really strong. Almost a stallion" he said proudly. Not quite true, but what did it hurt to say a lie now and again? Kiefer pawed at the ground with his hoove a bit. He didn't need to prove anything to this ignorant colt, but he didn't like being put down like that. He didn't like it one bit.
