Wacheza was out wandering again, as was his newest interest. Looking at the same scenery, even in a passing glance around his parents and siblings had become boring. He couldn't think with all the noise, someone always seemed to find him. Though, it wasn't so much that he minded being interupted, it was just that he knew them too well.

Ever since had had met Zuri in his wanderings, his newest passion was hoping that someone new would come along who knew something more about the outside world, instead of the calm one around the sea. Not that he minded the calm either. He doubted he would be able to think in the chaos of the outside world. He just liked to hear more about it, and his parents usually didn't speak on the subject.

So, per his new usual routeen, Wacheza moved out to the boarder of the pride near the sea, took a seat, and began to think in the privacy of his own mind, on a small cliff over-looking the sea below. His companion that day was a small seagull perched on his head, looking below them for something to eat while Wacheza's eyes moved outward.

Fenris knew he was a long way from "home." He'd been heading towards this strange and unfamiliar smell for a while now... It had a characteristic to it that wasn't alive. And a white noise was growing stronger and stronger with every step he took. It was something he truly couldn't wrap his mind around.

He did, however, have a reason for going so far away. He was in a desperate search for something, something to put his soul at ease. He needed to see another Cheeton- and not a brother. He had to know, for some reason, that his family wasn't just a fluke. However, the farther he got, the more he realized, he probably wasn't going to find one. That was, until he saw a brown creature up ahead! Maybe it was a cheeton too?

"Hello!" He called, wondering what the white thing on its head was, and what that scent was, and what that sound was. He continued on towards the figure.

Wacheza froze mid-thought as he heard an unfarmiliar voice that made the seagull fly away. He turned around and saw the very strange, very unfarmiliar green cheeton coming straight towards him, which made him blink once or twice as it came closer to him.

"Wait!" He called hastily, mind working fast, "Don't run! There's a cliff!" True, it was not a large cliff, and the water was very shallow under him, but if the green thing ran into him, then he would get wet... again. Not that he minded. It was the salt that made him unhappy. It made his coat smell funny, and tasted wierd.

He somehow doubted that the green creature would like it either. Just a feeling he had.

Fenris stopped his legs as fast as he could. He was used to running fast, but stopping was a whole different beast altogether. Still, when he locked all of the joints in his limbs he came to a screeching halt, and not a moment too soon. He nearly fell of the cliff, the tips of his front paws were already off. He quickly got away from the edge, but not before being in awe of what his blue eyes saw. ((didn't mean for that to rhyme. O.o)) That was the sound, and the smell. That big, blue... thing.

He snapped his attention back to the creature that had saved him from falling into the thing. "Thanks," He said. Immediately he could identify the creature as a lion cub. "Hello," he said, concealing his disappointment as best he could. At least he wasn't alone, or off the cliff. He was sure that the lion would ask what he was eventually, so he prepared the story in the back of his mind. "I'm Fenris, Fen for short. What's your name?" He asked.

Wacheza blinked and opened and closed his mouth a few times before he also answered, "I'm... Wacheza, but my sister and my mom sometimes call me Cheza." He didn't miss the spark of dissapointment in the green thing, Fenris' eyes, which confused him, but he made no comment about it.

"You're not from around here..." He said, looking the cheeton over, since after all, he had never seen a cheetah before in his life, let alone a cheeton. Zuri had seemed a little strange to him, but this was a different story altogether, "...are you? I mean... I would have seen you before... but..." He watched Fenris watching the ocean, "You've never seen the sea before? You can't have. You look really...suprised." He said all of this slowly, trying to get a better hold of his situation. This all struck him as very odd.

"No, I live quite a ways away," he said. "The sea?" Fenris asked, confused. "The sea is that thing?" He asked, extending a paw to over the cliff. "What exactly is it?" He couldn't help but ask. "It smells funny," he finished bluntly. He wasn't sure if he liked it or not. It kept moving, like it was trying to climb the cliff. He sat down and tried to make sense of it all.

"Aren't you scared that thing'll get up here and eat you?" he asked. Certainly something of that size could easy come hunt you down at night... Or so he thought.

Wacheza blinked, "Well... you know what water is right? The stuff that you drink? Well... the sea is just that, water. Only a whole bunch of it." Wacheza pointed with his paw, "As far as the eye can see, right? It keeps on going, all the way out there, past what we can see. I've heard that there isn't more ground for a long, long way." He looked back at Fenris, "What you smell... that's sea water. It has this stuff called salt in it... so you can't drink it. It tastes funny, and just makes you want to drink more water.

Wacheza had never really had to explain the sea before. It was something he was used to. It was always there. It certainly didn't hunt him down, though he had heard that there were big, big fish out there that would.

"Wow..." Fenris said, gazing out at the vast expanse of water in front of him. "I've never seen this much water in my whole life!" He said excitedly. What would his mother think of this right now? Why did he care?

"And you live around here?" He asked, turning back to Cheza. "That's really cool!" He said, all disappointment gone. Perhaps he could make his living here by the sea. Fenris hadn't ever even heard of the sea, or salt, or even fish! (He'd seen minows, but they didn't really count to him.)

"How did it get there?" He asked, hoping he wasn't annoying Wacheza. They could play once he had his curiosities out of the way.

"Um... well... I don't know how it got here. I think it always has been." Wacheza said, wracking his brain for the right answers as he slowly considered all the ways he could answer. "And I do live here, my whole pride does. This is the edge of our territory." he continued his explanation.

This was without a doubt the oddest conversation he had ever had. Fenris was, in many ways, like no one he had ever met.

Imagine, he thought to himself, something that's always been there! He couldn't quite figure it out... but Fenris accepted it.

"Oh..." Fenris said, flattening his ears to his head. "Do I need to leave?" He asked. He knew little of prides, but his mom had told him once that sometimes lions will chase you off if you cross their boundaries unwelcome. He didn't think he'd have to go, especially since Cheza here was fine with him being here. If a pride was going to shun someone, wouldn't all members do it together?

"Need to... go?" Wacheza looked completely lost when Fenris said that. Need to leave? He had never heard anyone say anything like that exept for Zuri, and she had only had to leave because she was lost and needed to find her family again.

"No... I don't think that you... need to go anywhere." Wacheza, only having lived in the sea pride, had never become aware of the fact that other prides would drive away strangers, The very idea of it seemed a little out of the ordinary for him.

"Oh!" Fenris said happily. "That's good." He jumped up suddenly to his feet, excited. Perhaps they could do something, like play hide and seek!

He had to ask Cheza- it was the very reason he was out here. "Have you ever seen a creature like me?" He asked fairly bluntly. "Maybe with different colored fur, but with the same build?" He hoped in his little heart for a yes. If he couldn't find another of his kind, he'd have to see if anyone else had either.

"Um... well, no." Wacheza explained, moving his head to the side as he looked over Fenris, "I've never really left my pride though. All I ever see are other lions... I haven't even seen a wild dog before." He knew that Fenris was abit odd looking, but he hadn't really though anything of it.

Fenris was a very strange lion, but since Wacheza hadn't even heard of a cheetah before, this just seemed odd to him.

Would he ever find another of his kind, not related by blood? It'd be a driving force for the rest of his life until he either found someone, or someone who'd seen one.

"Want to play hide and seek or something?" Fenris said, changing the topic and swishing his tail behind him. Fen felt he was good at that game, and rather enjoyed it. "Sorry for asking so many questions," he added with a giggle.

"That's okay." Wacheza shook his head, then he had his own questions, "What's it like? The world out there? The whole big world? Have you traveled around? Have you seen the desert? The mountains? The pridelands? I've never seen any place that isn't the sea!"

Curiosity made Wacheza ask, because the rest of the world always made him wonder. Always made him wonder if he would stay with the sea pride forever, or if he would have to leave and see what the world had to offer one day.
