Not fiction. Real events.
When I was about 4 the doctor who exibition came to the U.S. Infact it came to my local mall. heart I remember as if I had taken pictures the cybermen and the sontarins and daleks all moterized in the center square of the mall. I knew I had to remember every detail becuase I somehow knew I would never see it again. That however is not the story.
Outside the mall they had set up a portable trailer. My older brothers took me inside. Once inside there was a partial control room. To stop people from actually flying off with it my brother said.
Quickly they set off turning nobs and pulling leavers and evntually picked me up so I could see and told me to press this one button. As I did the TARDIS demiteralization sound whent off and I ran from them in terror back out the one way doors. *no one ever could figure out how I opend them*
Finally they convinced me to re-enter the TARDIS and lead me straight out of the control room and down the side door. From the prespective of a child the hallway seemed long dark and omonious. There were monsters lineing the walls and again I was worried this time not that they were real but that they would move like the ones inside the mall starteling me and resulting in even more taunts from my older brothers. Finally at the end of the corridor I saw k-9 the poor bloke was locked in a plexi glass prision and I felt so horriable that k-9 would be trapped so. But my mentioning it only caused more taunts and endless stories. To this day 20 years later they still tell their version of events because after all who would listen to the supposed memories of a 4 year old. But I remember, I remember the overcast of the day and the excitement of seeing doctor who in front of me. Iremember never wanting to leave but they closed at 5pm and took all the monsters and the TARDIS/trailer away.
So now I felt like sharing the real version, you all know what pains older brother can be rolleyes

When my mum was a kid, growing up in England, they used to have coin-operated Daleks outside supermarkets. You'd put in your money and get in and then you could make it move a bit and wave its plunger and eggbeater and make noise, something like that.
xp ... true story!

True Story.
Frazier Hines aka Jamie McCrimmion was at a convention I attended several years ago. He took an istant shine to me and spent the better part of the 3 day con running around attempting to scare me. Coming around corners and out of rooms and generally causeing me great amusement.
Eventually I sat in a vid room to wach the Krotons. Being observant as I am I noticed him slip into the seat behind me and during one of the "scary" bits he reached and grabbed at my sholders. He was so upset that I failed to scream it was so sweet.
In the end though I felt a little bad I didn't let the old guy ninja win the game. xd He really was a very nice persont to talk to.
not much of a story be 'eh whatcha' gonna' do.

True stories:
My parents own a shoe shop. Colin Baker was in a play at the theater in my town some time last year, and one day he came in my family's shop and would have bought a pair of shoes had they came in red.
My Uncle is the boss of a brewry in wales and bits of 'Rise of the cybermen' and 'the age of steel' were filmed there - it was the inside of the cybermen factory. When i heard that this was happening, i was like 'get me there!'. He didn't get me there, but i did get to go to Newport and see about 1 sec of the last one of that series being filmed. I had some tea with some cybermen, and i got talked alot to a man called Reece Griffis, AND david tennant ran passed me twice!!! in costume! Reece got me his, and billie piper's, autographes too!

At last year's Bristol Comic Expo, Colin Baker sang us some Gilbert & Sullivan biggrin My friend had decided to ask him about his musical theatre stuff rather than "what was it like to be the Doctor" and I think he appreciated it.

Colin is such a cool guy at cons! biggrin I remember one con panel he came on stage & says hi to all of us, sits down & asks what WE had been doing & what SF we had been reading (he likes to read SF--he likes Pratchett & Stephen Donaldson, I know). He likes G&S very much--I think he played a female role in "Ruddigore" when he was in school, if I recall right.
He likes red shoes--somebody gave him a red pair years ago & he decided he liked them & often wore them to cons.

I'm pretty sure he's wearing his red shoes here....I know they look brown, but I had a cheap camera back then, & I've done color & contrast adjustments on this picture to improve overall visibility when I made it a web image. (That was taken at Cleveland, OH 1990 when he & Syl were there, BTW.)

Oh wow, that's all of it amazing!
I would so love to say I have some kind of story, but unfortunately I don't. Perhaps in three years, on my senior trip, if we go to England I might have some story then... *sigh* They skipped it this year.. *rambles*

My true who story
I've never met anyone associated with the show. But I have met three people who didn't think it was a medical drama! I've taught four people what the show is (and one of them has gone on to become a big fan, the other randomly pesters me with questions about Ace and Romana)
And I found some jelly babies.
that's not a very good story. *sighs* I wish I had a better story, and maybe one of those supermarket daleks, because that would amuse me greatly.
