Eolo The Mage

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 12:26 am

Okay here's the pitch. I know this has been done before but it seems to have died out each time.
Let's stick a few of these characters together in a condo by the beach. This time maybe West coast? They'll need to get jobs, shop for groceries, clean house...and not kill each other or get dragged to the loony bin in the process

For now, join in.
I'll stop us when we get to about five characters, just one per player, and then we'll get an rp going. It won't have to be serious, and I'm guessing it won't be at all!
There will be a vaguely valid reason for them to be together and in this world at all... ONce I come up with one. They'll need to get jobs, shop for groceries, clean house...and not kill each other or get dragged to the loony bin in the process
I"ll post my character's info first.

Name: Eolo the Mage

Show/Game/Movie: Tales of the Magi, a story, based on a world all belonging to Sharsarannon. Yes she knows I use this guy, he is my OC from her 'verse.

Appearence: Human male, Five feet tall, dark tanned skin, pale green eyes, dark brown hair, which is usually a mess. He dresses very simply in a tunic and pants, and tends to not wear shoes if he can help it.
That's it as looks go. No complex pendants, no glowing wings, no scythe tail.

Personality: He's a snarky person who really doesn't have much tact. He says what he thinks. He's not mean- just very frank.
Occasionally he has memory problems, not necessarily with things he's learned so much as people's names and that sort of thing. With all these people crammed into such a little house he's going to have trouble...Or make trouble, as the case may be.
He is a magic user, and by nature of said magic rather older than he looks. He doesn't use it when he doesn't have to, and using large amounts wears him out. Doing something really big could kill a mage where he's from.
He's just a human guy. Other than Magic, no superpowers or weird weapons.

History: He grew up studying as much as he could in order to be a skilled mage. Where he's from, a very few are born with the Gift of magic, but they have to work to gain full potential, learning how the order of the world and the exchanges of power govern the universe, so as to be able to manipulate them properly and with due respect.
All this means he's kind of a bookworm, and he knows all sorts of weird stuff, leaving him very little patience for people who lack rudimentary concepts or common sense.

Edit: RULES!
1. Please follow Gaia's rules here like you do anywhere else on the site. No cybering or whatever else.

2. Try to be "literate". Apparently in the forum rp world, this means use actual English, punctuation and a vague if at least colloquial sense of grammar. "Ain't" is fine, "hi i am leslie how ru" is not gonna cut it.

3. Let the size of your posts be indirectly proportionate to how often you post. If you post maybe three times in a week, your posts better be longer than two sentences and have a good chunk of info in them. Try adding internal monologue. If you're posting twice a day, go ahead and post min. 3 sentences.

4. Take nothing in here too seriously! *waves magic blue ladle*

5. Try to talk, argue, laugh, joke, banter, and all else with the other characters. Find out if your character is more than just a description on a screen.

Name: Khorae

Show/Game/Movie: Tales of the Magi, a story, based on a world belonging to Sharsarannon, though she was invented in another 'verse.

Appearence: Human female, also five feet tall, extremely pale skinned, deep green eyes, waist length auburn red hair that curls up at the ends. Drop dead gorgeous and she knows it.

Personality: Khorae is a noble brat with a superiority complex; she also is excellent at hiding that. She comes across as a snob but she's too good a source of information to ignore. Extremely curious, she will poke at something until she knows everything she deems useful out of it before letting it wander off in a dizzy stupor. She also works very hard to hide her vulnerabilities (she gets sick at the drop of a hat and couldn't lift fifty pounds if her life depended on it). The only thing she doesn't work hard at is work, preferring to let others do it for her.

History: Khorae was born the b*****d daughter of a nobleman. After her mother died, she was taken to her father's house, already possessed of a beauty too great to ignore. His wife of course hated her and the infidelity she represented and married her off at a very young age to the oldest bachelor she could find. This happens once more, each time the old man dying before anything "happened," leaving behind a very wealthy young widow.
Khorae is power hungry, and since she is very aware of the fact that knowledge is power, she studies and builds networks to garner information. Her main priority is protecting herself after this history.

OOC: Time to get this started.

Khorae was walking in her manor's gardens. She was checking the roses and fairly oblivious to everything, including the rabbithole that had opened just in front of her. Oblivious, that is, until she fell right through it.

"EEEYAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!"

She lands hard on a patch of sand, the rush of the ocean filling her ears. Khorae sits up, looking around frantically, in her day gown still. For a time she sees nothing but the moon reflecting off the waves as her eyes adjust tot eh darkness. Daringly, she ventures a query.

"...Hello? Is anyone here? Where am I??"

The mage was strolling down the beach, deep in thought, letting the wind ruffle his messy hair, when it happened. It looked kind of like what happened just a few months ago to him. A hole opened in reality and Plop, someone fell out.

This time, though, he wasn't the unfortunate victim of Lady Luck's little prank. This time it was a young woman in a fancy dress. She was pretty, but shocked.

Eolo sighed and mosied on over- Yes mosied, there was no other word for what he was doing, hands in pockets, shuffling along at just five feet tall.
He called out to her. "Hey. Never seen a beach before?" His tanned face wasn't exactly sympathetic, but then he was never known for being a nurturing sort.

"How did I get on a beach?! I was at home and--who are you?" She finally stands up, dusting off her gown, looking at him mistrustfully. "Did you bring me here?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:21 pm

The short mage grinned impishly. "If I could do that kind of magic I'd be at home myself. You," he remarked, looking across the waves, " have most likely fallen through a rabbithole- A slightly random tear in time and space. Happened to me. I'm Eolo the Mage."

"I-I did? So where are we?" She's obviously unsure if she believes him and keeping a good ten feet between them.

"We're standing on the beach, in High Bluffs, in the state of California, which is a part of a republic they call America. Namely, the beach just below the cliffs on which sits the place I've rented." He smirked. "You don;t have to stand so cautious; I don't bite."

"...There's no way to get home?" Her voice was quieter and she was much less bold. While she had little lost that she couldn't regain in any society, this place sounded completely unfamiliar.

Eolo grimaced. "Not that I know of, or I'd be gone already. I'm kinda counting on another rabbithole to reopen and drop me someplace else, ideally back to Amberlin. In the meantime, you're hardly dressed for beachcombing."

"Beachcombing? What's that? And you're from Amberlin as well?" Khorae was relaxing very slightly. She had never heard of him but that isn't surprising. Maybe she could use this person to get acquainted with this area and people...
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:01 am

Eolo raised eyebrows. "Well, of all the random worlds the rabbithole seems to have picked the same one twice. Never you mind what beachcombing is, my point is that a gown is hardly suited for the tideline, don't you think? Come on up to the condo, I think I have a set of clothes that'll fit you for now. This way." he turned and began to walk, without questioning whether she would follow.

She follows, not like she could do anything else. "You have women's clothes? Are they of similar fashion to yours? What fashion is that in the first place?" Pester pester.
