The ******** do you mean 'why do girls like the DS so much?' I know just as many guys who have a DS as girls that do, if not more. A guy I talked to today said that to me. Where does he even get the idea? Does the DS seem like a girlier system to you? Why? Is there even a relationship between the sexes and handheld gaming systems?
Note: I dont want to know why you like the PSP/DS, I want to know what you think about this whole idea. Have an explanation, a personal experience similar to mine? Maybe you have some insight to be offered.
Spoons: Is the PSP a more masculine machine? Is the DS female-friendly? Do you think more girls than guys use DSes? What attracts girls to the DS/PSP?
If ANYONE turns this thread into a PSP/DS bash-fest, I'll saw your faces off and I'm totally not ******** kidding. Read the spoons.

Because "Touching is Good~!" ^.~ Lol sorry I couldn't resist that XD, but Idk alot of my girl friends here don't play games b/c sadly the only girls here are prepps, sluts, "gangsta wannabes" or a combination of those, but a few of them have DS mostly I think some got it just to be like I got a DS, but I don't know my friend Ami loves her DS lite and is a huge Nintendo fan girl.

Well, the DS is aimed for younger ages with moe friendly/funner games. Girls tend to like that. I haven't seen many DS games rated M. On the other hand, the PSP is meant for the older gamer. I myself prefer the PSP because I just like the games on it better. I still love my DS, but I find myself playing my PSP more because I enjoy the games on it more.
Is the DS more "feminine?" No. Nintendo aims at the younger generation, it's games are usually fun and friendly and blood free. Usually, girls tend to like that.
Is either one "BETTER"? No. If you like RPGs and fun games, I say go for the DS. For different styled RPGs (I.E. Untold Legends) and more serious games like SOCOM and GTA, go for the PSP.
I have seen a lot more girls, in fact I have seen a lot more girls making the DS their first gaming console. Why? The GAMES are female friendly. Not the godamn DS. Try going on SOCOM on PSP and tell them you are a girl. Won't work out too well at first.
**Edit** When I said funner for the DS, I mean funner in the happy hyper kind of way, not the psycho I'm gonna kill you serious kind of fun you get on FPS >_>; Unless you're making fun of someone, it's usually a serious kind of fun on an FPS X3

I have no idea what you're talking about. I hate the DS. Maybe stereotypes like that one are part of the problem that gamer girls have to face. Guys just assume things about us.

I prefer the DS over the PSP for the fact that I own a PS2 and own games on it that are more suitable than that of its handheld relative. I have an ipod to listen to music and a portable dvd player to watch dvd's if the need arises, so i have no need for a PSP.

I need to get a DS because the right shoulder pad on my SP crapped out on me. ;o; And I agree, I have the same arguement about the PSP. I don't need it to have all those features if I just wanna play games. And like hell Im gonna hold that thing for 2 hours to watch a movie.

Well, you don't need to buy the UMDs. I put anime episodes on the memory card and watch during boring lectures >_>; So, there a lots of ways to look at it.

Why do I perfer the DS over the PSP?
I really don't fleckin' know. It just appeals to me more. ((That and it looks and feels remarkably like a pocket-sized laptop))
Maybe it because I already own about 5 diferent machines that can play movies, I already own an MP3 player, and my GBcolor, sisters sp, Ps2, N64, and my DS work fine in the 'playing games' catagory.
With all that covered, I don't really need an PSP, now do I?
((plus I don't have the patience to sit outside somewhere for hours on end just to watch my fav movies.))

I like the DS? ...How come I never noticed that? mad P:
I don't care for the DS, PSP, Advance...I don't like any of them. The screen is too small for me--I mean, I wear glasses as it is, I don't need to make my eyes any worse! whee
I would accept a handheld as a gift, but that probably won't happen because I won't ask for one. I wouldn't be able to utilize it at the best moments; I get car sickness! gonk

Amargana I wouldn't be able to utilize it at the best moments; I get car sickness! gonk Same here. whee
I wasn't interested in a DS unil Dawn of Sorrow was announced for it, I don't become interested in consoles/handhelds until a game from one of my favourite series is coming out for it. I've loved my DS ever since & once I got it chipped I love it even more.
I'll be honest, I snubbed the PSP until I had a go on my brothers. All they seemed to be doing is releasing games that already exist on the consoles. What's the ******** point (bar the play anywhere excuse which wears a little thin with me to be honest) if that's all they do for the most part?
That said I would like one when they're dirt cheap & I only intend on getting the games that won't be available on the PS's.
I have the same view about phones as I do with the PSP - I don't give a s**t about playing games, surfing the net, using it as a camera, playing music on a phone & I don't give a s**t about surfing the net or playing movies I can watch in comfort on the PSP. I just want things to do the task they meant to do. No unnecessary (& expensive) bells & whistles.
I have no idea why certain consoles seemed to be linked to a particular sex & to be honest I've never thought about it. sweatdrop I haven't got many friends & two sisters I'm friends with own DS', they have a burning hatred for Sony.

I wasn't aware that this was an issue. When the DS first came out, my two best guy friends jumped out and bought one. I waited until just a few months ago to get mine, after realizing that a lot of RP titles were floating to the system. But I like the DS over the PSP for a multitude of reasons, ranging from a better game library to the fact that I really don't care about being able to watch movies on a handheld system. Most of the other features the PSP offers, I would never use because I have other software that does the exact same thing!

I say it depends on the person, if they want a PSP then i am not going to stop them as well as a DS, heck if one wants a n-cage well its their money..
But each one has their pros and cons, my preference though is the DS as it has more of the games i like.

me and my friend have the DS v.s PSP bash out all the time. his only fight is that his can do everything, as usual. I tell him I got a laptop that can do just as much and then some, and it can do it better than his PSP can even dream of.
but enough of that
No, PSPs are not more masculine, its just the fact that boys can't let go of their playstations for the sake of a decent nintendo systum. Girls are usualy more flexible with what they do/use and have no problem changing. (( Thats what I think anyways.))
There is no such thing as a "Female friendly" item, unless your reffering to tampons. The DS is, however, more "User friendly". I know this for a fact because the first time I picked up a DS I was playing as if I was bourn with one in my hand. When I first picked up a PSP, my friend was hovering over my shoulder the whole time so I could get anywere without blowing it up.
I think that more girls than guys using DSes is just your friend complaining that he can't join in battle plays with girls due to lack of equipment. I know that at my school we have Mario cart battle plays, and if your not fast enough you don't play. Gender is usualy well balanced in these tournaments.
attraction to one systum or another? It's just whatever they prefer. If I had to guess however, I would say girls tend to like the DS better because of the color options and/or better games. I know I baught mine so I could play with my friends at lunch times, rather than barrowing one with a busted top screen.
