Kyou Olwen, son and heir of Lord Olwen, had not returned home in over ten years. He knew that as he grew older that amount of time would pass in the blink of an eye, but in the folly of his youth it seemed like a long time.
However he had successfully completed his training as a warrior and had been taught the finer arts of magic within the hallowed walls of the Seelie monastary. Oh, he was hardly the strongest soldier in the kings army, but he had displayed a rare talent for healing which was why his father had organised a ball to celebrate his return and his employement in the world above. No one in the Olwen Clan had been a healer before, but none of the Olwen Clan had ever been born with horns before, which puzzled the other Fae families and made them suspicious of some kind of infidelity.
He stepped through the crowd, doing his best to mingle and be polite, but truthfully the guests frightened him. But that was nothing new, Dr Miyagi had said he might have social anxiety or some condition that he couldn't remember the name of. It didn't really matter. He soon found a spot, loitering by the french windows and watching the dancers spin gracefully around the floor. His father had always believed in good manners, so the dancing was reserved and civil, unlike some of the dances he had heard of but had never been allowed to attend.

Prince Charming walked through the crowd with an alarming air of confidence. So, maybe it was true, he could hardly remember why there was being a party held at the Olwen manor, but whatever. He was pretty sure it had something to do with that strange son of theirs... the one with the horns. The prince mingled about the crowd, doing his best to smile brightly. He danced a bit with a lovely Unseelie woman before moving on, and spotting the host of the party right near the windows and moved over with a smile plastered onto his face, the guy looked nervous for some reason. "Hello." He said. "Lovely ball here." He commented lightly, acting as if he were studying one of the couples dancing when he was actually trying his best to star at the Olwen Clan's little star of the evening. "Is something wrong?" He inquired quickly, thinking maybe he could shake something out of the other guy he was trying to engage a conversation with. Chatting with the host of the party was always a main goal of Charming's-- it made you look good most times though he was so sure this time due to the strangeness of this particular host. He had met a fae earlier at the ball who wouldn't stop chattering about the poor guy's horns and how strange they were. He had finally gotten away from her at least... now he got to confront the very person that that dance partner of his had seemed so suspicious of.

Kyou looked up quickly, the other man had startled him a little. He had not met this person before, which immediately put him on his guard. He was mortal, like his friends in the aboveworld, although he had no idea what a mortal would be doing here in this kingdom.
"Oh, nothing's wrong." he said and smiled politely. "And you should be praising my father for the current festivities, this was all his idea."

Prince Charming grinned. "Really now? You yourself look uncomfortable. And I'll have to get to finding your father then, these festivities are excellent, but why not praise you for you're the guest of honor here; ah! Forgive me, you aren't even a guest." He chattered brightly, bowing in slight apology as he finished his last sentence. Charming smiled meekly after this; some dancers were looking their direction with slight curiosity, but everyone was looking every which way with curiosity here. "So, I hear you haven't been home in a while?" He asked, breaching the subject casually. Charming was growing ever more curious about this Olwen-- wasn't everyone?

Kyou smiled weakly and nodded, his small talk skills were seriously lacking. and he certainly didn't like the idea of being guest of honour, people stared at him enough without his father drawing attention to him.
"Yes, I've been working in the human world recently, and before that I was at the monastery." he said, but it sounded a little taciturn for his liking.

Charming tried to keep from grimacing at the short answer he received and instead decided to try and grill the Olwen for more information instead. "Ah, the human world..." He said, in an idly musing voice. "I suppose you liked it." He added. Charming was one to stay in the Undergroud even though he was, if fact, a human. Many people thought him strange, but Charming thought life in the undergroud was a tad more exciting rather than the boring human world. Besides, he was human and he saw himself everyday in the mirror so the prince resolved that there really was no reason to go to there in the first place. Charming would have gotten Kyou for the monastery comment, for by now he was sorely curious, but he stopped himself at his last comment and instead stared the Olwen down, as if willing him for a long, detailed answer.

Hyde was leaning against the french windows, his mask tied firmly around his face. He daintily held a glass of white wine in one hand, the other was draped across his waist. The Elf had been sent by Chai to make sure Kyou would be alright, Hyde hated the Underground--though he wasn't so bold as to utter this declaration--as he was mostly considered an outcast, having been born outside his country and never seeing his homeland.
His mixed eyes wandered over to Kyou, and a small smile flicked his features. He very much looked like a shadow phantom, dressed head to toe in black, dark of complexion with a dark moon mask on his face, hiding his identity. He didn't mingle, just blended into the background, chewing his lip in thought as he started to wonder about work and the sorts. Nothing else was interesting.
Hyde wasn't a social phobic as such, he just didn't agree with the social status standings, He and Macy were on the same level, noticed but ignored, known but not and he foudn that irked him. More for the way his friend was treated more than himself, Hyde was used to experiencing pain, pain of all sorts. He wore the arm warmers for a reason, tto hide the faint traces of his physical pain that had been inflicted upon him early in life. His eyes dulled as he snapped himself out of his thoughts, he hadn't thought like that in years. Moving to look somehwere interesting, he settled his gaze on Kyou, sipping his wine absently.

Kyou smiled and nodded, the memories of the Aboveworld that Charming had brought up were all pleasant ones, unlike where he was now. He didn't exactly hate it here with his father, or in the silent halls where he was educated, but above ground he had experienced his first taste of friendship and fun, just for the sake of fun. "Yes, I really like it there. It was very strange at first, but I've made some really good friends." he said, quietly, and wishing he was back there. His eye trailed from the blonde human and darted around the hall, until they finally rested on a dark figure, silhouetted by the moonlight that shone through the window. He seemed familiar somehow, but he wasn't sure why.

Hyde's gaze on Kyou remained unwavering and when the other looked at him, he nearly waved. But Kyou's bewildered expression caught the raising hand and stilled it, he cocked his head to the side. Kyou didn't know it was him.
Hyde resisted a very Chai-like smirk and pushed away from the ledge, disappearing into the crowds. Kyou's look aroused a desire to tease Kyou in him. The normally placid healer-elf wanted to see if Kyou's socialising had got any better and if he could keep such a charade up. He kept his eye on Kyou, certainly, but made sure the other on caught breif glimpses of him.

Kyou's eyes followed the unknown figure as he disapeared into the crowd. He knew it would look rude to simply abandon Prince Charming, especially as he had made an effort to come over and talk to him, but his curiosity was peaked and he wanted to know where he knew that person from. He politely but swiftly excused himself and stepped out of the shadows to follow the dark stranger.

Hyde smiled when he saw the departure and Kyou's pursuit of himself, he looked around and picked up another glass of wine as he retreated back into the clouds. Part of him wanted to stop and tel Kyou it was him, he felt awful for decieving him, but another argued that it would do no harm.
' at least he's gotten bolder..' Hyde noted, giving a sideways glance to a female as he past her. She batted her eyelashes at him but he ignored her, she was probably a Charming fan-girl, so she liked nobility and wealth, rather than a person for a person. Hyde tugged his arm-warmer up higher and turned to try and spot Kyou, but he had lost track of him.

Kyou was now in the middle of the dance floor, the stranger completely lost in the flurry of dancers and guests. He had been so caught up in following that he had forgotten how frightening it was in the open, especially when the people were so close. He trembled a little, what a fool he had been to run into the crowd just like that, he did his best to pull himself together before the panic set in.

Hyde caught sight of Kyou after hurriedly looking around and noted the signs, he looked around before pushing through the crowds, grabbed Kyou's hand and tugged him off of the dance floor and to the side by the bay windows. His hand resting on the others shoulder.
"are you alright?" he asked softly, catching his breath a little and composing himself. He ran a gloved hand through his crimson hair and smiled.

Kyou looked up, still shaking a little from the shock of the crowd and of being grabbed. He may not have recognised the man at first, but his voice was certainly familiar.
He gave Hyde a confused look. "Hyde?" he said, slightly breathlessly although he had calmed down a lot. Then realisation dawned on him "Why did you run away. Did I do something wrong?" he said worriedly.

Hyde smiled and removed his mask, holding it in his hand with his other still firmly on Kyou's shsoulder. He studied the other and blinked at the worry lacing his tone, he sighed and shook his head.
"of coarse not, I just wanted to see if you would follow me and I must say, you've gotten bolder Kyou" Hyde answered, smiling reassuringly. He had to also admit that he had found that rather fun, though he wouldn't do it often.
