I've volunteered to do a j-rock panel at MechaCon this August! =D
While this isn't official just quite yet, the Convention Organizer especially liked the idea! I've sent off my ideas for the panel as he's asked...
OMGackt~!! It's official, I'm doing the panel!! It's on the schedule for the con and everything! I'll be doing it that Saturday, which is awesome, and it'll be an hour full of j-rock! <333
But, I'm going to need some help.
It's going to be a J-Rock 101 if you will.
I want to cover:
~ Types and styles of music, and appropriate artists
~ Different terms to go over such as "visual-kei"
~ Tips on how to find affordable j-rock
~ What to watch out for as far as fandoms go
~ Different company labels such as PS Company
So, yeah. It's gonna need a little work, and some visual and audio equipment, but I think I can pull this off. Anyone have any suggestions on what to make better or what to put in there as far as the topics go?
By the way, this isn't in the Chatterbox, because...I'm going to be cosplaying as...Ruki! =D It's more of a mushing together of some of his outfits, though.
Progress:
Not much text. I like to improvise with my presentations. ^^
And I even added j-rock songs to the slides to go on the background! x3

isn't Diru's like FWA or something. They have a lot of labels. xD;;
You should do popular artists, like, Dir en Grey, Gazette, Miyavi, and the like. ;D
Ones that manage to go oversees. people will be more interested. xD;

@Grinnie: Eh, Diru's so popular, I think I can find their label no problem. I know GazettE, Miyavi, and Alice Nine's is PS Company...I just need everyone else's. xD
@Tifa: A panel is a little...event thing...at a convention where everyone discusses a certain topic. My topic will be j-rock. x3
@Shiva: That's okay, you know I can't stay on-topic to save my life. xD Well, I can't start on my cosplay just yet. I kinda need money for that... :B
@Puppy: Yeah, I want part of the panel to be j-rockers that have gone international. I mean, L'Arc and 12012 have performed at cons before. *is sad because she hasn't seen either* Maybe that might help, too. xD

If my friend had known about Laruku earlier, he probably could have gone to see them when they performed in Baltimore...cuz that's where he lives...
