I remember back on January 1, 2001, my dad brought home a pair of guppies. The next day, the female gave birth to seven lovely males that grew up and each lived for over a year. Sadly, the mother died a week after giving birth. I had kept that line for so long, but then when the tank heater 'exploded', all the guppies died, killing my old line... which was nearing show standard (wow, from common store hybrid guppies... to show guppies). They were breeding true over and over, looking like those SAP Purple strains you may have heard about somewhere. But they just happened to die when the heater exploded.
So, here I am with a 15 gallon tank and a 33 gallon tank, wanting to breed a specific line of show standard guppies. My mom -will- try to get more tanks, just as long as I do my best in getting housework done for however long I have to wait.
I was thinking, of maybe getting three 5 gallon tanks for breeding, six 10 gallon tanks for fry to grow in, and then I'll divide the 33 gallon tank in half so then the adult males go on one side, and the females go on the other side.
Am I getting my tank numbers and sizes right for wanting to start off with 2 trios of one strain of guppies? (Thinking of going with Hawaiian blue moscow guppies.)

That sounds about right, as long as you don't get overwhelmed by the fry. Are you planning on selling them?
Those blue guppies are gorgeous! Good luck.

From personal experience, the best way to breed guppies, is by NOT breeding them. xd

The way I do it is seperate my males from my females until they have been built up, By that I meant reach breeding age, and have been fed special foods. They I add them all to a tank and just let them go. Once I notice a preg fish I put her over to a smaller tank alone until she has her babies. Just as a precaution I add lots of things to the tank for the babies to hide in so she doesn't eat them.
