-Pain and anger licked through the adolescent as he made is way across the grasslands. On the outside his body said nothing, simply tromping along as the tale tale signs of blood shimmered from his bright pelt. But on the inside he raged, mind screaming curses at himself and the female that had done it to him. He berated and belittled himself.
And in punishment he forced his body onward, to step as if nothing happened, despite the screams of pain that shot through. The tender shoulder in which she'd bitten and torn at. The stinging scratches that littered his body. The sore muscles that ached from each well placed ramming. It would teach him. Teach him for being weak. For letting a someone get the best of him. For letting a GIRL get the best of them.
But that anger soon began to fade as a familar pelt touched his eyes. Anger coiling into his stomach and mind, Ahai soon felt another feeling overwhelm his body. He was overtaken by shame.-

Matsai yawned as he lay by a thin stream of water, the place the twins had come to rest the night before. When his brother had disappeared, the young male had chosen to stay and wait, which seemed to have payed off as his attention was pulled to the returning figure.
Suprise rolled under his calm exterior, and the lanky figure climbed quicky to its paws. "Ahai? What happened to you, you look like you got the whiskers beat off you..." More like someone tried to take pieces out of his hide... And just what had he been doing the whole time Matsai sat here and waited for him? What had he missed while he was bored out of his mind?
A flicker of a smile pulled at his maw, though it was more-than-part concern for his brother. Those who messed with his twin, messed with him...

-An unpleasant growl rumbled through his throat. Not really at his brother, but more at the situation, though it was likely only his twin would have understood that.
Trying hard to dig words from his mind without actually answering his brother's correct disertation, he stalled in his steps. Trying to debate whether to give in, and fall to licking his wounds or to continue on with is punishment. But as his legs began to shiver as the adrenline dripped away, he hissed unpleasantly, finally settling himself onto the ground. Before he grumped unpleasantly, anger misdirected.-
"Do you know that there are others like us Matsai? Children of gods and royalty. Ones that don't seem to understand the honor and pride of such a birth right..."

Matsai blinked slowly as his brother spoke, rising up on white paws to pad towards him. Turning, the blue form settled by its reflection, shoulders lightly touching. The voice was soft and cool, emotionless.
"I didn't know first hand, since I've never met another, but I suspected. If there is one like Father, why couldn't there be more like him? Gods are no better than us... they just have their fancy powers, which aren't even all that great. Why wouldn't they interbreed with mortals?" A loose shrug was given, soft breath leaving his maw. "I take it the question and your tone that you've recently met one such, and from you appearance, it wasn't a pleasant encounter. I wish I could have been there... a fight would have been more fun than lazing around here waiting for you."
Matsai's cold tone hardly matched his words. Another thing only the two of them would understand. Just as Ahai's seeming anger rolled right off his brother's back since he knew it wasn't directed at him, so would he know that Matsai's indifference hid a very real sincerity, that he ment every word he spoke.
Green eyes swept over the matching blue hide, and he set to licking clean the wounds on Ahai's back that he most likely couldn't reach on his own. It was a simple service, born more out of necessity than because of any sympathetic feelings. Ahai could take care of himself, If he got torn up, it was his own fault and he deserved the wounds. Didn't mean Matsai wouldn't avenge him, of course, but there was none of those weak feelings of wanting to protect or care for his twin. They were half-gods, young and strong. Each was capable, and if anything, they competed in a good-natured way.

-Ahai huffed unpleasantly with the logic that drifted from his brother. He was right as usual, and had his brother been the one there, the encounter probably would have been far different. But he himself wasn't one for logical thought. Not when he as angry atleast.. But let this fight be a lesson against that. That stuid cheating seer b***h had gotten the better of him.- "I suppose you're right.." -It didn't make them any less.. it simply expanded their level around them. Which.. wasn't really a bad thing was it? With the ineptitude of their other siblings was it really a bad thing to think that others exsited around them at the same level?
As long as they held some pride over the matter, he assumed it was. This lioness though.. She had not. And therefore was not, despite the 'fluke' in which she'd won.
Soft sound of discomfort rippling from him, he was drawn back as his brother's tongue rolled abrasively against one of his wounds. And slowly he took to licking at his shoulder, words falling softly as he drown in his humility, though he was able to draw forth a momentary grin.- "Perhaps then we should stick a little closer from now on brother. As we both know excitement seems to follow me."

"Indeed..." Matsai murmured in a low growl between licks. "We are better together than we are apart. If it had been me... the wounds would have been far worse on my hide. You know my weakness... and with how much fate swirls around ones like us, I'm afraid I'd have been knocked senseless with the first touch." Soft breath brushed the blue fur, green eyes narrowed in thought. "We could always go back and make sure the upstart looks worse than you do, Ahai... I'd be willing to lend you my aid." The offer was really only half serious. He doubted that Ahai would want to do such a thing, but by offering, it might help ease the tension somewhat.
His twin's hide pretty much clean, Matsai rose and padded down to the water and crouched to clear his mouth with the cool liquid of the stream. He let it run back out between his fangs rather than swallow it, and his cool green eyes were blank with the thoughts rolling through his mind. He'd be interested in meeting other god-children... perhaps others would understand his problem, and be able to offer advice. It wasn't really a pleasant thought, since he trusted outsiders about as much as his mother did, but they'd been getting worse lately... as though they had grown in strength as he had.

"She isn't worth our time." -Was his immediate, gruff reply as he stood up from the 'comforting', and it took him only a brief moment to catch his folley.
Eyes averting to the dirt at his toes, just in case his brother might find some amusement in the fact that his a** had been handed to him by a girl, he added quickly, growling at the memory.- "I thought she was mother. Large.. red... Half god- half firekin I should have know better."
-Adreniline and cleaning having soothed his injuries somewhat Ahai crouched above the water, lapping at the water with an intensity that screamed either his desire for quiet, or his desire to rid himself of the female's taste. Either way, his tail flicked irritated behind him. Lifting finally, after a long moment, staring at Matsai apparently oblivious to the thoughts that ran through his twin, he grinned mildly, tips of his teeth sliding into view.- "Side by side then. Until we find them. Just us against the world. I say it's a fair matchup."

Matsai's mind held little of what worried his twin. He thought no less of Ahai... after all, how could he? Ahai was a part of him, and thus, perfect in nearly every way.... or at least when others challenged his other half. Between themselves, he often poked fun at his brother, just to amuse them both.
"Like Mother?" He mused to himself, Seeing a flash of something, before he shook his head to clear it. "Ah, a firekin... yes, I suppose the Pridelands aren't the only lands visited by the gods." A hint of a smile twitched his maw as he glanced at his twin, catching the malevolent enjoyment.
"What can stand against us when we are united, Brother? Nothing, that's what." He growled out, his tail flicking. After a moment, his eyes went unfocused, and his voice dropped a little. "I wonder though... I don't think we're going to catch up to Them. I can see us running in Their wake, yet we never draw closer... Do you think we should keep on going? We could... go back, and see if any of Them have returned."

-Ahai puffed subconciously, finding himself being dragged out of his little mope with an ease that was almost astonding. Despite their play bickering and teasing, and the unshakeable shame Ahai had loaded himself with after his loss, his twin had been able to push it aside almost effortlessly. And Ahai was grateful, listening intently as his brother spoke, smiling lacing his features with the echo'd sentiment.
Drawing in a breath as his brother's focus changed, by now quite used to the clumsy way both him and his brother recieved their visions, he waited for the clarity to come back, though the words that sounded shocked him. And he opened his mouth immediately to protest, he was no quiter!
But the sting of his injuries and memory of what his rashness could easily cause silenced him, hearing out the rest of Matsai's words. He didn't want to give up.. But yet.. Matsai's past track record of smart thinking and the obviously long passage of time in their trip spoke volumes. They were but cubs when they left in search.. and here now.. with full manes and adult figures they still had nothing to show for it.
Holding silent for another long moment, he finally sighed giving in, and replied with a mild grin.- "You are hardly ever wrong dear brother. And besides.. imagine the sight of our aunt and her 'boy' when we come waltzing back after all this time." -He could almost see it now. And you know.. he half missed tormenting the two.-

The twitch of Matsai's lips betrayed a cruel streak as he focused his gaze on his brother again. "You think the Pridelands can handle two like us, brother? We'd send them fleeing, trembling in fear of us." A rasp that passed for a laugh fell free as he rose and stretched, shaking the growing mane on his neck.
He wasn't sure that his last words had been a vision or something like that... he just felt a calm certainty in his heart that it was true. Somehow, he knew that what they chaised was no longer there... with a vague feeling of being split in two, one north and one south of them. The blue male shook his head to clear it, blinking emerald eyes.
"It would be nice to see our brothers again... I wonder if Mastema ever grew up, if he's the same old cowardly, stupid lion he was before, and if Belial managed to deal with his madness long enough to actual grow up. I used to think something or other would get him. Maybe a hyena he thought was a rock or something..." He rasped again, making it more joke than serious, though it was a legitimate concern.
His eyes turned to the horizon, seeking out some hint of what lay that way... the great, jutting pinacle of Priderock, their destination.

"It seems whether or not they can, they soon will be." -A smirk grew across his maw, wide enough for the two of them.- "It should be fun to see."
-Though Matsai likely wouldn't have minded to wait, rest a day or two before heading back, Ahai was restless, and despite the mild pain, he lifted himself and took a few steps forward, waiting for his brother to follow. Good old rash Ahai, leaving time to think only left doubt.
Snickering at his brother's chiding, he remembered the small figures of his other brothers, half expecting them to look just the same when they returned.- "I'd almost like to see that just to see what mother would do to our aunt if she came back and found out about it."
-Streching out, before giving each paw a mild shake to get the blood pumping once more through them, he cast his eyes back on the horizon.- "Let's hurry back then to see them. There is nothing else worth looking at along the way. We've spent enough time in these godforsaken rogue lands. It's about time we were back where we belonged."

Matsai yawned lazily, his tongue curling over exposed fangs. Night to his brother's day... just as it should be. He was in no hurry, but he was quite in agreement. Too much time gone... these lands were filled with nothing. Useless, empty... infested with rogues. This is where all the trash and scum went, when even a pride as accepting as their's wouldn't take them.
His lips twitching, he rose and arched his back in a loose stretch before he bumped his shoulder to his twin's, stepping out in a loose, easy stride. Sometimes, he was glad for how well matched physically they were. Mother had been loathe to talk about their uncle, but he'd heard stories about how sickly and weak Uumikaji had been, and how mother had been forever waiting around for him and protecting him from others. Sometimes he wondered what had happened to seperate the two of them, since he couldn't imagine anything that could ever make him leave his twin, his other half. What had Mother been feeling, when she'd left hers? What did she feel or think now, that she never spoke of him, or went to see him? Glancing at Ahai, Matsai shifted course to bump shoulders again, needing that brief contact to reassure himself that they were still inseperable.
A light wind kicked up at their backs, rushing ahead of them as though to announce their coming to a waiting Pridelands. "No, Ahai, there is nothing left for us out here. Perhaps we might come back sometime, but only to pass through. I'd like to see a few of those prides that Mother saw when she was traveling, wouldn't you?"

-Ahai wasn't one to purr, but the soft masculine grunt that sounded at his brother's bumping held the same meaning, appreciating and accepting the mild affection. And while Matsai's mind wandered to his uncle's illness, Ahai's mind rested on the one closer to home.
Perhaps it was selfish, ecspecially since he could visibly see and feel his brother's pain when it warred against him. But he could not help but feel blessed in the fact that his twin could touch him despite his inability to touch much else. Almost as if he belonged to him. Just another assertion of how connected they were. Like two pieces of one thing. -
"Of course." -He asserted to his brother's sentiment, though already his feet were lifting to follow after the winds that tugged them towards home.- "But we've got all the time in the world to see them." -He believed it too, and maybe it was right? They were young, their bodies may have finally reached the prime, but they had so much time left to embrace it with. And it would seem that only time could tell just what waited for the twins of princess and god. Two princes headed back home once more.-
