Yiska had finally mustered up the courage to sneak away from his families little living area for the moment. His parents would probably be worried about him, but he'd be fine. At least he thought so.
The young colt had only wandered to the other side of the lake where his parent's were, but he didn't know that. From the way he had traveled it felt like he had moved clear of their watchful eyes.
Skittering up a slanted boulder that overlooked the water, he peered down at his own reflection. Tilting his head this way and that as it seemed the foal who was looking back at him did the exact same thing.

Kileyo, being the rambunctious young colt that he was, had easily slipped away from his absent-minded mother when his father was away and she was busy staring at an interesting marking on the Teepee wall.
He was about to dive head-first into the lake to see if what his mother said about the lake eating people was true when Yiska caught his eye.
"Oy! Hi there!" The other foal looked like he could be his own mother's offspring, actually. It was rather amusing. "Whatcha lookin' at?"
He started to trot over but immediately tripped over a rock and almost fell forward onto his face. Luckily, he caught himself in time and instead did a few clumsy running steps before screeching to a stop.

He blinked his eyes curiously as an odd looking colt had seemed to come out of no where. This one had wings and a....horn on it's head. Well this was definatly something Yiska didn't know about. At least, he had never seen or heard of something like this in his short time out of his own basket that's for sure!
Sliding down the back of the boulder, he trotted over to Kileyo, tail held high as he sized him up. He was a bit bigger, more than likly older than himself and his siblings, but the bigger they are he guessed.
Giving a quick flick of his tail he grinned coily at the strange colt for a second. "Just lookin. There looks like there's another foal in the water but I can't quite seem to catch him." A puzzled look came over Yiska's face as he pondered this. Why would a foal want to live in the water and look up at the sky in the first place? It was much more fun to run about on land.

Kileyo stared at the other foal for a moment before starting laugh, "Ahaha. Foal in the water! That's funny! Nonono, look!" He took a few steps toward the water and poked his hoof at the water, "See, that's me there! It's a...uh...."
What did his father call it? He couldn't quite remember and made a face. It started with an r...
Rainbow..? No. That wasn't it. It was some big, long word.
"Uh...Uh...I can't remember, but it's just a picture! The sun makes it. I think." He hadn't really been paying attention - he rarely did. "See, watch."
He poked the water, causing the picture to waver oddly with the ripples.

Yiska's ears fell back slightly as the other colt laughed, but he shrugged it off. How was he suppose to know these kinds of things right off the bat?
Leaning his nose over the edge of the water, he watched as the supposid foals in the water rippled and waved. "I see. So then I suppose I don't have to learn to swim to play with them."
Giving his nose a quick wrinkle, he eyed the colt again. A quick flick of his tail and he gave a little half circle walk around him. "So, what's your name? And...what are those things on your back and head? I don't have any...neither do my papa or mama."

"You can't play with 'em because it's you!" Kileyo tilted his head and watched Yiska walk around him, following him with his eyes carefully. "But yeah, swimmin's fun! I do it all the time!"
It was a lie- he'd never swam a day in his life because Fortune was still a bit wary of the lake waters but that didn't mean he couldn't say he had. After all, it made him feel important.
"I'm Kileyo 'n' it's my horn 'n' my wings. My papa has wings, but my momma doesn't. And neither of 'em have a horn. I'm...a..uh..." Why couldn't he remember what they called him? Started with...Oh! "Alicorn! That's it. That's what Selene said. Alicorn. Unicorn n...somethin else."

He shrugged lightly as he stopped in his tracks for a second. "Well, I didn't want to play with him in the first place anyway. Even if he was a real foal. He looks kind of suspicious." Yiska's eyes shifted back and forth as he lowered his head a bit.
As the colt told him his name, his head lifted up high. "I'm Yiska. Alicorn?" Tilting his head for a moment, he thought about this. Well it seemed like the days ahead of him would be full of surprises. The young foal didn't know much about this world but he was determined to learn as much as he could and fast.
"Unicorn?" Yiska didn't even know what that was either. He'd have to ask his mama about it all once he went home. "So...you're kind of like all these different things mashed together then?"

Kileyo decided it would be a bad idea to point out that if the foal in the water looked suspicious, Yiksa would as well. Of course, the colt didn't think the other looked suspicious but...Well, that was his own opinion.
"Nice to meetcha, Yiska. Part Unicorn, part...Wind. Like my dad." A firm nod of his head as he tilted his head and watched Yiska. He hadn't had any interactions with another foal other than his sister so this was definitely different.
"I guess so. You look like my mum though."

"Ah. I see." Unicorn. Wind. Such strange things these creatures must be! If Kileyo was a mix of them, he wondered what a full blooded Unicorn and Wind looked like. He'd just have to find out soon enough.
Tilting his head again, he looked at Kileyo a bit puzzled. "I look like your mom? Well that's impossible cause I look like my Papa and Mama. Though my brother looks more like my Mama and my sister lookes like my Mama and Papa just mashed together." Yiska nibbled on his bottom lip for a second. He was starting to ramble like he usually did on occasion.

"It's not impossible," Kileyo insisted, "You got 'er colors. I don't look like either of my momma or papa, so it's possible for you to look like your momma and papa and mine, I guess."
The logic made perfect sense to HIM but...Well, Kileyo had crazy parents. Safi and Fortune together were an amusing pair and it had to rub off to Kileyo.
"Maybe you're my brother or somethin'."

"Maybe..." Yiska hadn't seen any other Soquili around that had colors like him except his own family. So just possibly it was something that he could comprihend in his young mind. He found it quite strange that a foal wouldn't look anything like it's parents. The three of them definatly were their parent's kids and you could tell from just looking at them
Pawing at the ground absent mindedly, he eyed Kileyo curiously. "I'm not sure about that. I would figure my Mama and Papa would tell me if I had other siblings besides my sister and brother."

"Maybe, but who can ever tell with adults, huh?" Kileyo grinned, "They're funny that way, tellin' you things 'n' then changing their mind 'n' telling you somethin' else." Fortune did that a lot - but that was because she so often thought of different things and just had to say it. Safi wasn't quite as bad as Fortune and it was a good thing the mare had decided to drag him into it.
"Do your parents do that?"

"Adults are kind of weird sometimes..." Traceing a circle in the dirt with his hoof, Yiska pondered all that Kileyo was telling him. Had his parents really done that and he just not have noticed.
With a quick shake of his head he pondered the other colt's question for a second. "If they have. I haven't noticed that's for sure."
