The sun was shining, Winter had finally waned giving way to Spring. The day was warm, but by no way hot, Junketsu had been waiting for a day like this, a perfect day to go to the beach! She woke her father very early, close to four in the morning, much to his dismay. He reluctantly agreed to take Junketsu under the condition that she didn't cause any problems, there last outting, just to the park nearly resulted in a law suite.
"YAY DADDY! Ha, I'm so glad the cold time is over. I hate the cold, it's stupid, now it's warm and we can play at the beach again! HEY! Do you think anyone will be there? I hope so because you're really boring sometimes daddy, did you know that..."
"Please Junketsu, slow down. You're going to give daddy an aneurysm, it's too early to be this loud. Now lets find a place to put our things, we'll worry about what we're are going to do as soon as we get settled. And also, I'm not boring, be nice." 'What have I gotten myself into? This was probably a bad idea.' Junketsu had been getting older, and in the grand tradition of all female toddlers she was growing more insufferable every day. But he was patient and he tried to pacify her, she could just be... tough sometimes, which is why he was so afraid of taking her to the beach, there was alot of water and it generally got crowded, and she could get lost or hurt very easily. Perhaps she should not have attempted a trip to the beach alone?

"Mama, mama~ look!"
Aurelia was as excited as any little girl would be on her first trip to the beach; she'd never even seen the ocean before. It was so big! She thought you'd be able to see the other side maybe, but you couldn't...
The only thing that saddened her, was that she had to leave Kishi at home. Mama put Kishi in his cage before they left, and she couldn't figure out how to sneak the bird along, in a swimsuit. But ah well - Kishi probably wouldn't like water anyway.
They were out of the car, and already setting up a place on the beach. But Lia didn't want to wait for her mother to finish, that was very apparent...so it was no surprise when the little girl finally took off, determined to go and leap into the water.
And then ran right into somehow.
Ow.

PJ,who at that very moment, had been sticking a beach umbrella into the sand was absolutely floored by the young girl who ran into him. Ten minutes out of the house and already a mouth full of sand, why wasn't he shocked? "Ow...W.."
Junketsu looked from her father to the cause of the crash, a younger girl, close to her age. Disregarding her father's current condition, Junketsu walked over to Aurelia laughing.
"Haha, you made daddy fall over. He's stupid sometimes. I like you, who are you? Are you okay?"

After sitting there for a moment, merely blinking, Aurelia rose to her feet as if nothing had happened, a big grin on her face.
"Hi hi! I'm Lia. An' I'm ok! The sand's soft."
She peered curiously at PJ, but then decided he was fine and returned her attention to the other little girl.
"What's your name?"
"Aurelia! What have I told you?! Don't run away from me like that!"
At least she'd stopped...even if it had been at the expense of someone else. Sighing down at the unrepetent toddler, Aletea offered her hand over to help PJ up.
"I'm sorry about that...she has a tendency to not look where she's going."

Oh, you're name is pretty! I like your name. Mine is Junketsu, but you don't have to call me that. It's hard to say, you can call me Junkie or something."
After acquainting herself with Aurelia, Junketsu motioned over towards the water. It was obvious she wanted to play in it, and with the two adults tied up in whatever it is adults do, she knew she could get them away without a problem. "That's the ocean, it's fun. Wanna go play in it? Maybe we can catch a fish!"
PJ took the hand of the mysterious woman, appearently the guardian of Aurelia, from the quick glimpse he had gotten of the young girl, she was a Sin, like Junketsu.
"Oh... hello. It's really no problem, children will be children. I'm Patrick, I'm Junketsu's father, the young girl who just introduced herself to your child, you can just call me PJ, it's less formal, I like it more."

"Junkie? Ok! Fishies are fun!"
She had never chased a fish before! Aurelia had chased birds plenty of times, and gone after bugs, too...but she had never tried to catch a fish. Hmm...heey - that gave her an idea!
"Are fishies sea-bugs? I never heard of bugs underwater before, so maybe they're the sea's bugs..."
And she liked bugs! This was a good sign.
Trotting along happily at Junketsu, Lia splashed into the shallow water, kicking it up with her feet.
"I'm Aletea, Aurelia's mother...it's nice to meet you. You're alright, aren't you? That didn't look like too comfortable of a fall."
Pulling PJ to his feet as she spoke, she glanced over and noticed that the girls were playing by the water. Well...hopefully they'd keep each other distracted, and not go too far away.

...Hm. I don't know. I think so, because what else could they be? The look a little bit like buggies. They're definatly not birdies, and definatly not little people. So that only leaves bugs." Junketsu nodded, of course they were bugs. It was a perfectly sensible explanation... to a toddler.
Junketsu followed Lia into the water, it was cold but refreshing, she hadn't been in the water in a long time, other than for bathing. She walked about a foot or so in, the water only reaching her knees, she sat down with a little splash and looked intently into the water. In a whisper she said: "They should come to us now... right?"
"It's very nice to meet you Aletea. Yes, I'll be fine, Junketsu has done worse, and at least it was only sand I fell into. Once at the park she tripped and I fell right into a pile of dog's... well, it took a while to wash the smell out, let's just leave it at that."
PJ looked towards where the girls were off playing, he smiled. If Junketsu had a playmate she should be fine, what harm could they do in the water? "They should be fine... would you like to join the two of us? We're here alone, I would like the company, I'm sure Junketsu would as well."

Stopping and staring down at the water, Lia tried to see if she could spot any fish. She didn't see any...
"Mebbe? We might have to look for 'em...when you catch bugs, you usually have to look under leaves an' stuff."
Maybe they should try looking under rocks? But all there was right here was sand...there wasn't anything to look under, right here. Kneeling down in the water, she experimented by trying to dig some into the sand...
But the only thing that happened was that she made a hole. Hmm...
"Oh, that would have been awful! I'm just glad that's never happened to me..."
Pausing for a moment to consider, Aletea then smiled at PJ, "Sounds lovely. Aurelia and I are here alone as well, so it would be nice to have someone to chat with while they play."
"I'll just go get my things..."
She walked back over to where their things were, then - the towels, and the basket with sunscreen and drinks in it...she brought the umbrella back over as well, and set it up next to PJ's, before spreading out a towel to sit on.

((I've got to run, I'll be back tomorrow afternoon ;D))
"But... there is nothing to look under... Except me... you think one of them hid under me?" Junketsu stood up and tried to look between her legs, not suceeding at finding anything she looked further, and further, until she accident forced herself into a tumble. And there she lay, her little head poking out of the water, looking very put out.
"There was no fishie... under me... and now I'm very very wet... Maybe they are in the deeper water?"
PJ sat down on a beach chair he had brought along with him, with Junketsu out playing he would finally have some time to himself. He could talk to his new friend and for the first time in a while not have to worry about keeping Junketsu busy.
"God, it's wonderful out today isn't, and the kids are having so much fun... do you enjoy parenthood?"

Covering her mouth as she giggled at Junketsu, Aurelia considered. Deeper water...maybe they would be there! It wasn't like there were any rocks to look under, after all, so maybe they'd just be beneath more water.
"Mm, deeper, that might work! Or...oooh~ I know! When we came in, I saw this bii~ig rock, and there were a bunch of little rocks next to it! We could try that!"
What she was actually referring to was where the land became steeper, and it basically turned into little rock pools and other such things. All Lia knew, was that it was a bunch of rocks.
"Enjoy it? I suppose I do...it's always exciting, to say the least."
Aletea chuckled, shaking her head slightly. Exciting...it made her panic most of the time, really, with Aurelia running off this way and that without any warning.
"They're so cute at this age! And at home, I have Akiya to help keep an eye on her. He's another little resident of our home...he's basically Lia's big brother, although not...quite."
Akiya, that little dragon, was half brother, half protector, half tormented nanny.

Junketsu stood up and brushed some dirt off her legs, that little fall was unpleasant, but she was over it. The rock place sounded like a lot of fun! Another big adventure, Junketsu was absolutely all for it.
"OKAY! Yeah, that sounds like a super fun idea!" She whispered "But we need to be real real quiet so that my daddy and your mommy doesn't catch us. Daddy is a stiff, he woulnd't like the idea of us going on the rocks... so you lead the way. Alright?"
Oh... wow, you have two kids? You must be an absolute saint!" PJ couldn't possible think having more than just Junketsu, she alone was too much of a handful at times. God, imagine two of Junketsu? It's enough to make one cry.
"Well, yes. It's definatly an adventure, and certainly something new everyday, but I couldn't possibly deal with more than just Junketsu, I would have to do myself in."

Nodding eagerly to Junketsu, Aurelia stood up, and sneaked a glance towards the adults. Hmm...they seemed absorbed in their conversation...
Then the little girl began leading the way, glad that the ocean was so loud - it would cover the sound of their footsteps. It didn't take long for them to reach the little rock pools, and Lia pointed excitedly when they got there.
"See? Lotsa stuff to look under!"
Some sea shells, and some other little things...there was plenty of sea life in a rock pool, after all.
"Oh, Akiya isn't a child - he's...well. It's hard to explain him, but he's essentially a miniature dragon. I did raise him, but his species grows much quicker then people do."
That was once a plushie. Aletea didn't quite understand it herself, except to know that he was fully grown now - he just liked staying at her place. She had raised him, after all.
"I do have two children, though - Ashkii is my other child. He's visiting a friend of his today. I'm not so much a saint as you might think, though - like I said, I have Akiya. And Ashkii never causes any problems...he's older then Lia, but he's a complete sweetheart."
The only problem with him, was that he was so incredibly naive. Honestly, sometimes she didn't think Lia or him would recognize danger if it came up and bit them on the nose.
Distracted as she was by the conversation, she failed to notice the toddlers sneaking away.

"Wow, you were right Lia, it's really good here. There are lots of funny looking things in the water... look at that prickly thing, is that a fishy? It could be. It's under the water."
What Junketsu was actually refering to was a small sea urchin, but what would she know? To a girl who was no more than five, it looked like something that could be a fish. After all it was under the water.
"Take a look at it Lia, it's funny!"
"Oh... a drago. Well, since moving here nothing seems to surprise me anymore. I would imagine he would be a problem, like with burning drapes of... you know... the house down..."
Wow, a dragon! That is really boss! And she did indeed have two children, although Aurelia seemed pretty good, and if the other child was even more lax than she it couldn't be all bad.
"Still, that must be quite the handful huh? But the dragon... does he help with the children at all?" PJ, also absorbed in the conversation did not notice the kids sneak away.

Kneeling down to inspect the sea urchin, Aurelia gaped at it.
"It's a spiky fish! I didn't know there were fish that spiky..."
Reaching towards it, eagerly, she then paused and considered. Spiky. Might not be too great of an idea to grab it...afterall, she still remembered what happened that timed she grabbed that little cactus.
'Ouch'es happened. So maybe she should pick it up with something...?
But she didn't see anything. Huh.
"Hi Mr. Spiky Fish! Do you wanna come home with one of us?"
Maybe Mr. Spiky would help them!
"Akiya can't actually breathe fire, actually - something I'm definintly thankful for. He can fly, and has a bit of magic, but other then that he's very normal."
For a minature dragon, anywyay.
"And he does; Aurelia...she's a bit of a troublemaker, at times - doesn't seem to understand what 'no' means. And she has the unfortunate habit of climbing everything...which was very bad when she was a baby, and she'd crawl out of her crib and wind up strange places in the house. So Akiya helps keep an eye on her, for me."
And Ashkii as well, but Ashkii was never a problem; the only frustration she had with him, was that he just didn't understand why you should be careful around strangers: to him, everyone was a potential friend.

"Hm, the fishie does look funny, I think we should keep him as our pet! But I dunno how to pick him up... he looks too... prickly. Like he would hurt..."
Junketsu kneeled down next to Lia and gazed into the pool. If only she had her shovel, but she had left it down with her father. Perhaps... something else could work? "Maybeeee... we could try to scoop him up... with... a... rock?"
A rock seemed sensable to her, and besides, what else did they have at their disposal? If only she had remembered her stupid shovel, there would be no problem at all.
"Wow... well that's good then. It would be a shame to have to replace... your house, everytime he got upset. The help must be great."
PJ had by this point layed down and turned his head to Aletea, they could talk, he could tan. Multi-Tasking was alright. "I know what you mean, Junketsu also has an issue with the word "No," and she always seems to be getting into the wrong things at the wrong time. However, thankfully she never broke out of her crib."
