Silver eyes fixed hard on the muddy ground. Every hoof-step she took always left her stuck even deeper in the sludge. She sighed, seeming to not be able to move this time. Her muzzle touched with the mud, moving it around in hopes of digging herself out, but every time she moved a clump of mud, more came spilling in to replace it.

"Bloody hell," Makiya breathed into the night air. She cursed herself, wishing she had never gone for a midnight stroll, especially after a down-pour. Quite stupid, indeed. She wiggled as much as she could, though found it only made her sink deeper into the mud.

"Oh my goodness...." She heaved a sigh and hung her head, "I'm stuck."

Ebony as night a stallion raced within the evenings canopy snorting as his hooves trailed through the mud, leaving it to splash everywhere around his great form. He cared not for how muddied he'd become nor did it matter if anyone would mention it either.

All this great beast wanted was to run like wind and relieve himself of any things that made him feel tied down. Snorting the long trek had subdued him back to a small trot which was quite frustrating as he pawed the ground. What luck to loose stamina when you so badly called for it, oh well.

As he walked along he sensed movement in the near distance. It appeared to be a ghostly colored soquili that apparently had go herself stuck in the muddy ditches he avoided. Swiveling his ears he wondered what could of made her even think of trying something so unsettling. The more she flinched and wiggled the more she sunk herself.

He pondered letting her there, but something gnawed at his subconcious.

So with a heavy sigh he decided just this once to help this mare out, or see if she needed it. Perhaps she wanted to be stuck like a wounded animal. If that was the case something may very well dine on her in sheer spite. Trotting over his deep brown eyes lay fixed upon the other.

"Please tell me you didn't do that on purpose" he said with a sigh, "I suppose you need a push out of there"?

The mare flinched and looked up at him wide-eyed for a moment before she realized that he wasn't going to cause her any harm. Makiya shook her head at his question, becoming very defensive. "Who would want to be stuck in this muck?" Her silver eyes softened and she gave a frown. She was silent for a few moments before looking back to him. "Terribly sorry for my mood, but as you can see I am indeed stuck. You don't have to push me out if you don't want to...I mean it wasn't your fault I got stuck here in the first place." She heaved a sigh, not meaning to give him a guilt trip.

She wiggled her legs, trying to see if she could move much. "I can move a little bit, but I really can't put enough force to get me out of this thing." The mare dug her muzzle into the mud and tried to get at least one leg free.

Sunday for a moment became almost amused by her determination before he let his stubborness get in the way.

"Well its not politer to let a mare stuck now is it?" he snorted leaning in to evaluate the mess she'd gotten herself into. Mud thick as cement well something of that nature made a sopping sound every time she shimmied to get free. He noted where the easier sections were noticing where the mud was looser and easier to manuver. Still it would take some heavy pushing to get her out of this mess. The only thing he could think of was going in after her.

Snorting her sighed and inched in to help her noting where the suction was most worse.

Makiya blew the mud from her nostrils and looked at him. By now she looked like a mess. Her hair was matted to her head and covered in dirt and sweat from trying to get herself out of the mud. She gave a sigh and shook her head, trying to get atleast a small tidbit of the grime out of her hair. "I guess it would be more gentle-steed like to help a mare in distress." She watched him move closer, frowning and hoping he wouldnt get stuck as well. It would be a story to tell. Two Soquili stuck in a mud-pit. Oh how the other mare's would laugh if they saw her now. They would dislike her even more than they already had. And the steeds would take yet another step away when she would gallop past. Maybe it was all in her head and they actually weren't avoiding her. "Thank you, ahead of time."

He grunted still configuring the depth of grunge that sucked to them both like a leech. The "sop sop" noise bothered him as he neared closer snorting now and then with wonder of "who the hell put a mud hole here".

When he shimmied finally where he didn't get stuck he grunted a "no problem" as he pushed his broad set shoulder against her. By now they both looked quite the site if mud horses were a reality. His once black coat inked with ebony was firmly coated with caked on mud. The once yellow blanket was now a pukey reddish brown making it stiff and scratchy. Another thing to annoy him later.

Pushing with all his gusto he bit downward closing his eyes in clecnched teeth. It wasn't that she was extremely heavy but the fact the mud was devouring his stance and he was slipping by every inch. Mustering a breath he manged, "Try and pull yourself out if you can. This stuff is nasty."

Makiya listened to him grunt as he pushed her. All the while she kept trying to put one hoof ahead of the other, pulling herself with the suction of the mud she was in. It was hard work, and she may have only moved a few inches, but atleast she was moving. Her breath became raspy as she was trying with all her might to move, even with his help it felt nearly impossible to get out of the grit and grime.

The mare looked around, her silver eyes tried to find something to bite on and pull herself forward with. She found a single vine, giving it a few hard tugs before deciding it would work. She stretched her body as far forward as it would go and bit into the vine, pulling herself forward with all her might while he pushed.

The stallion now hardening with a thick muddy coating continued to push as his feet struggled for footing in this endless muck. The thought had occured to him that the same fate may of belied within this night of his very own, but did not stop his vigil of helping her. Call him a good spirit if you will but he was determined past his stubborness to push her out of that mud pit.

Snorting he felt her form budge which caused his spirit to harden and become all the more while stronger. Grunting he pushed harder as his hooves slid slightly.

"Damnit this stuff is annoying me" he complained continuing to push.

Makiya finally was able to pull free, or atleast free of getting stuck in all that mud. She looked back at him and frowned, hoping he wasnt stuck now. "Are you able to get out? If not I can try to find a long enough vine for you to hold onto while I tug you out." She seemed to trail off at the end, wondering if her idea would even work. Nobody had ever helped her like this before. They would rather leave her there and laugh at her than to help her get out at the risk of getting themselves dirty, or even stuck. "I really thank you...a lot. You're the first to even help me out of a situation without thinking of yourself...Its kind."

Her words did flow into him but he didn't ponder the "kind" part as the bold stallion finally heaved her out letting his own hooves sink further in the mire beneath him. The mud itself was drying so it was a bit more difficult for his long legs to move the way he asked them too. By now looking at her own mud encased legs he figured his ebony coat that snined like a canvas of night was just as caked on as the sight he took in was. No matter what the situation later, right now he needed to stop sinking and start moving. With a thrust of his legs he felt the budge and grasped that with all his fury, as his entire bulk leapt for freedom.

Snorting he shook himself like a canine far enough away from her to release any near expiring wet mud he could. While a fair amount had cowarded off of him he was still left with a good sheen that clumped everywhere, tickling as it dried.

When Sunday had caught his breath he grunted with a tiny smile they were both free of that mess, "Don't mention it really. Its not proper to let a mare wallow like a pig in that crap" he nodded with a disgusted cringe on his underbelly from the drying mud.

"Feel like a bath? This stuff is making me feel quite irritated? You?" he murmered glancing lightly at what once may of been a while mare.

[ Heh...Sorry it took me so long to reply. Its been a busy month. ]

The mare nodded, looking at the mess that was splattered across her fur. She frowned, wondering just what kind of monster she looked like to the steed. "I think I need one more than I want one. And I want one pretty bad right about now."

She gave a small, nervous laugh and looked back at Sunday. She stamped her hooves slightly, trying to get some of the muck off her legs so she could walk properly. "I'm quite new around here....so I'm not sure where any watering holes are." She trotted slowly over to his side, so they could walk along together.

((No wories luff... I've been behind myself))

Usually the stallion could be so stubborn that a care wouldn't pass in his mind of her condition. But try as he might Sunday couldn't shake the fact they both were a sight for sore eyes. Blowing softly in a deep sigh he stepped forward feeling the clinging mass adhereing itself to his legs even more.

"Watering hole" he repeated with a turn of his head, "I think I passed one down the way over there. Might as well go and get this crap off of us" he grunted with displeasure feeling his fur stiffen.

"Don't mind me asking but what's your real fur color under all that drying muck? I believe it to be white but I'm not entiely sure" he noted turning his head with a small hidden smile. Wondering within himself if he too had lost his ebony sheen to the gray and brown mire that had overtaken them.

"My fur?" Makiya looked around at her coat of mud and noticed it covered more than she thought. She shook uncomfortably once again before going to answer his question. "My coat is kind of a cream color...Not exactly white." She looked over to him with her silver eyes. She could barely see his fur as well, but knew that he had a wonderful black shine to him.

Her eyes traveled around the area, ears flickered in an attempt to hear any running water. She only hoped that they could make it to a place to clean themselves before the muck on them stopped them in their tracks. The more the mud dried, the slower she felt. "My first year here and I am making a horrible impression."

Cream colored. Alright, at least he knew she had another sheen under this disgusting array of sunken atrocities known as mud and muck. Well then no one had to know his curiosity of her coat's color now did they, it was his secret.

Smelling the air with a flick of his ear he snorted. Even that annoying crap had clogged up his nose too. Imagine him, a great racehorse fashioned in such lovely decorative attire. Wouldn't the critics have a field day with that one since he was always so keen to stay ahead of the game and all.

Now that his breathing passage was cleared, he smelled a stream down the road. "There's one," he grumbled feeling his fetlocks harden nearest to his hooves "Up the road a bit. It may be a good trot from here but I think we'll make it." Such a cold tone he carried yet there was something significant hiding in that gruff exterior.

He moved with a flick of his tail, slapping himself on the rump with a soggy sound. Shuddering he started onward hoping she'd follow.
