Sitting on the steps of one of an apartment building, Dacian scanned the compound. He could have been working, he supposed - but it was too nice out to do that. Hadrian had wanted him to take care of some of that paperwork, but there was no chance of that when the weather was so nice...
He could also be working in the gardens; that was what he usually did, after all. But today, he had a different agenda. He wanted to meet up with Osha's new guardian, and see how things were going.
It couldn't be easy for Osha, in any case, so he at least wanted to check on him.
Humming idly, the mage rested his arms on his knees as he waited. They had to show up at some point, after all...and at least this way, if Hadrian got grumpy (-er), then he could reasonably say he'd been 'working'.
Hehe.

Zack strolled down the street, whistling to the tune of his headphones. In his arms were a couple of cardboard boxes. Fortunantly, it was the weekend, and he didn't have to work so he was free to move what little stuff he actually owned to his new place. The furniture could stay at his old appartment. He was keeping the place, and half of that stuff was Seamus' anyways. He might want it when he finally got married and got an actual house of his own.
He glanced down Osha. "How you doing kiddo?"
Osha had gotten the very important task of carrying Zack's music collection. At least, what he could carry. Nonetheless, those CDs were practically Zack's life, and the redhead took great pride in being trusted enough to carry it. He smiled up at his new guardian. Huh. That felt strange. New guardian.
"They aren't too heavy for you?"
Osha shook his head, unfazed by the little trips over cracks here and there. Once they reached the compound, the boy recognized the man sitting on the steps. He hurried forward, setting Zack's treasure on the ground before bounding up the steps.
"Hi," he greeted Dacian quietly.

"Heya, Osha! He's turning you into a packmule, eh?"
Dacian grinned at Osha, a teasing note in his voice - along with a little wink towards Osha, to try and convince the toddler to play along. It was always fun to tease people, especially when you could get a toddler on your side.
He hadn't really gotten to know the newest guardian, so humor was the best route! ...unless Zack didn't have a sense of humor, and then he'd probably just offended the man. But really, who couldn't deal with a little good-natured teasing here and there?
...asides from Hadrian, anyway.

Osha smiled up at Dacian. He really liked him. He was a nice man. He'd play along if Dacian wanted him to. He turned back to his guardian, nodding vigorously. He sighed dramatically, flopping backwards as though carrying his small box all the way here had absolutely exhausted him.
Zack hadn't actually heard Dacian, too busy singing to his favorite song. The funny thing with lip reading was you actually needed to see someone speaking to decipher them. He frowned when he saw Osha flopped next to the mage. Had he already done something wrong?
"What's up, kid?"
Osha looked up at Dacian before furthering his little joke, unaware he had just let Zack in on the little joke. "Work too hard," he said, pulling off a feeble voice as best he could.
Zack blinked before shaking his head. "That's what you're for, don'tcha know?" He smirked at the man next to his kid. Two can play at that game.

Just chuckling, Dacian conceded. Zack had a sense of humor - good! And Osha was a good actor for a toddler, he decided. He'd call on the kid if he ever needed a toddler to pull off the sweet and innocent, feeble act.
"So, are you moving your stuff up, then? All of Osha's things are still there - clothing, paint, his easy-bake oven..."
That was one thing that amused him - rather then the creep-crawly makers most little boys liked, Osha liked the easy-bake oven. It shouldn't surprise him, to be honest - Osha was more the type to want to make pretty things, then to make scary jelly bugs or something.
Hm. Maybe he should talk Gavin into making scary jelly bugs with him - he had a feeling Gavin would love doing that.
And yes, Dacian really was an adult. He just occasionally had the mind of a four year old.
((Heh, since Baniru had given him the easy-bake, I figured he'd still have it ^^ - you'll probably wanna go through Bani and Osha's journal, and see if there are any little tidbits you'll want ot

...easy-back oven? Had Dacian really just said that? Zack quirked an eyebrow, glancing down at the small redhead. "So, not only can he carry my stuff, he can cook my meals too? Pretty sweet deal, man."
He glanced into his boxes, mostly filled with clothes, photographs, his collection of music equitment and the cloud bedsheets Seamus had given him when he moved out. "Yeah. This is about all I got, really," he added sheepishly. He was never good at saving his money for things he needed. Usually, Seamus or Killian would take pity on him.
He looked back down at Osha. "You want to hang out here with him, or show me the place?"
Osha shrugged and glanced up at Dacian. Hanging out wouldn't be so bad...Zack wouldn't get lost, right?
((I've been looking through it. <3 So, should I re-do all the assignments for his growth? And what about those things Baniru wanted for him?))

"Sorry, Osha - looks like you're doomed. You may have to burn a few brownies before he starts cooking for you, now."
The mage didn't know what Osha cooked in it, actually...he just remembered that Baniru had gotten him one, and he'd seen it when he'd stopped in earlier.
"The apartment's already furnished, so you don't need too much anyway. Me, I never really spend time in my place - so it's pretty much plain. Well, except for this one stain I never got out of the wall..."
Tapping his chin musingly, he spoke his next words to Zack with a mischievously serious voice - mischievously, because his lips kept twitching. "Whatever you do, don't let Gavin - one of Osha's friends - eat spaghettio's in your kitchen. The kitchen will never recover."
Ruffling Osha's hair idly, he grinned down at the boy.
"If you wanna hang out with me, I can give you guys a tour of the compound afterwards. Not that you really need it, Osha, but Zack probably shouldn't enter the some parts of the gardens until he has an idea of where he's going."
Specifically, the maze. The really big hedge maze, that even Hadrian had gotten lost in before.
((Yeah, go ahead and do the growth assignments ^^ As for Baniru's plans...you can do them or not, it's up to you heart )

Osha frowned at Dacian. This was supposed to be their game, not Dacian's and Zack's! Adults were so...silly sometimes. He shook his head and leaned back into Dacian.
"...I guess I'll be meeting this Gavin." He couldn't help but notice the redhead's face light up at the mention of his friend. "And I guess I won't let him eat messy things in my kitchen?" Yeah. Like Zack could manage to make spaghettio's. Poor Osha might be living off take-out until Zack figured out how to operate an oven. (A real one that is, not the Easy-Bake.)
"Alright, kiddo. I'm just gonna go put these things in my room, and I'll be right back," he said, nodding to the boy. He trotted up the stairs, leaving Osha and Dacian to themselves for a few minutes.
Osha looked up at Dacian. "Like Zack?"

"He has a sense of humor, so that's good."
Dacian really hoped Osha liked Zack. If he didn't, well...it wasn't like they were going to remove Osha from Zack's care with the only reason being 'Osha doesn't like you!'.
"How 'bout you, kiddo? How are you liking him?"
After all, Zack was basically Osha's dad now. Osha just happened to a couple of uncles and an aunt. That was the way Dacian looked at it, anyway. Although at times, he had an odd little urge to tease the others by saying that they were basically all the Souls mom's - after all, they made them.
Sadly, the only one that seemed embaressed by that was Hadrian. But honestly, what was he expecting? Ahneta didn't get embaressed easily, and certainly not from something like that.

Osha nodded. He considered Dacian's question before nodding. Zack seemed to be good. He always had those silly things on his head, but he liked his art, which was very, very important. He always included Osha too. He let him meet his friends when they got Zack's stuff from his appartment, and he let him play with all the stuff too.
"Pretty colors," he finally said, picking his words carefully. Yes. Zack was full of colors, more colors than he'd ever seen in one place. He was going to be good. It was based purely on his hues, but Osha was pretty sure Zack was going to be good.
"Staying?"
He wanted to know Zack's story. He couldn't leave, right?

Visiting the compound was a required practice, not that Arianna minded too much. It was good for Inanna to see her friends, especially since she didn't live on the compound. So today was another visit, because it was warm and the weather, to be truthful, had been all over the place of late. Ari had brought their lunches in a pic-nic basket and a few outdoor toys for Ina to play with.
Of course, once Ina was placed on the ground she made a run for it. FREEDOM~! She giggled and ran through the grass and across the main compound, her violet tail wagging back and forth. Eeeeee, fun fun fun! Where was everybody? She ran around a few trees, peeking her head here and there before she bolted for the nearest set of stairs. From her personal experience, all fun things happened up the stairs, yep! She she made with quick climbing-she had wonderful practice because her house had stairs-and perked her ears listening to what was going on not far above. People were talking? Both voiced sounded familiar. "Hiiiiiiii~!" She chimed before she could even see them, trying to climb faster. Who was it?

"Yes, he will be staying."
He had better be. Dacian would be a very angry mage if Osha had a second guardian leave him - the little boy didn't deserve that. No kid did.
The mage had felt a grin twitching at his lips about the 'colors' comment - that was Osha for you. He would have commented on it, but he heard a familiar, cheerful little voice...
"Ina! It's been a long time since I saw you...where's your mother?"
Just scanning right then, Dacian didn't spot her. He'd bet Inanna ran off...

Osha nodded, pleased with Dacian's answer. Fortunantly, Zack had no intention of leaving the kid and would not have to suffer the wrath of an angry mage.
Speak of the devil. The black-haired man came trotting down the stairs just in time to see Osha stand and wave at someone. He frowned, tilting his head the side. Sometimes there were serious repercussions of constantly being plugged in to his music. Osha must have heard something. Zack bounced down a few more steps and glanced at Dacian. "...who's that?" he asked. At least he could get away with the question, being the new guy and all.
Osha was waiting eagerly on the edge of the steps. "Ina!"

Ina finally reached the top step. Whew! Most fastest climb EVER! She giggled at Dacian, twirling around, "Mommy still by car~Ina ran SUPER FAST! Hehe!" She was very proud of herself. She outrun momma! Yep yep! Her violet ears turned and she then whirled around to see Osha. OSHA! She hadn't seen the colorful boy in a loooong time, but that didn't really matter, right? "OSHA!" she chirped happily, her tail swishing around happily! She bounced over to him and gave him a hug. After all, everyone liked hugs, right?
Ari ran through the compound, having dropped her stuff once she had realized the little girl had vanished. Couldn't she give her a break for just a second? Oohhh, that silly girl! "Ina?" She cried, peering around the open area and then heading towards some of the apartment buildings. Oh, where had she gone off to? "INA!"

"You're getting pretty fast then, huh, Ina?"
Grinning aside at Zack, he explained, "This is Inanna - she's another of the children. She doesn't live at the compound, though."
Hearing someone calling for Ina, Dacian shook his head. "And there's Ari..."
"Ari! Over here!"
He didn't see her, but surely she'd hear him and come that direction. Plus, he was feeling to lazy to actually go search for her. For some people, spring made them more active - it just had the effect of making Dacian a very content, lazy mage.
