The sun was starting to set, casting a red and golden glow over the plains. A once tiny and slim formed black dog roamed the area, looking for a good and safe place to raise her puppies. Her belly was now heavy with pups, and she knew her time was soon. She sniffed around a possible den, but was so used to finding one just for herself that it took her a moment to realize it was too small. Sighing, she waddled off in another direction, in search of another possible home for her new family.

Kisho was out again, completely by habit. He had never been asigned the duty of patroling by this pack. But he was always, always doing something to assist the group. He didn't waste his time with other things. Ever moment could be used to benefit his famiy and that is what he aimed to accomplish. Often it was hunting with the group or some such thing, but in his free-time he chose to patrol and keep his eyes open.
Today, as he was loping through the grass he caught a familiar scent. And that wasn't something that normally happened. It was that strange female he had met before, the one who had tried to con him unsucessfully. Perhaps she was still up to her old tricks? He certainly wasn't going to let her do that so close to his pack. Many of his packmates were gullable and softies and would easily fall to her acting. Best to meet her here where she couldn't do any damage.
He changed his course silently and began to walk towards Hamaki, his ears perked forward and his blood-red eyes alert.

Hamaki caught the scent of the young male she had met before before seeing him. She glanced in his general diorection, trying to find him on the dry plains. Her eyes seemed to be getting worse, and she squinted against the setting sun to see his form coming towards her.
With a sigh, Hamaki sat down and waited for him to approach her. She'd be damned, well, more than she already was, to run over and make this meeting happen sooner than it needed to.

Kisho didn't care that didn't come forward. It was better then her going the opposite direction, which would have wasted precious time. And he wasn't that far from her anyway at this point. He stopped before her at about 2 feet, his crimson gaze calculating as alwayis. "You're still hanging around here?" he questioned in the same sort of monotone he always seemed to use. His eyes were quick to notice her change in weight and there was a slight chemical change in her scent as well. Puppies, mm? He hadn't thought she was that stupid.

Hamaki rolled her two-toned eyes at him. "Yes, I'm looking for a place to stay, too close to your prcious family? Well I'm trying to raise one of my own. I won't bother you." She said, watching him with a cool expression. This one got on her nerves, but she wouldn't let him see thgat. Although she had the feeling he already knew.

"As long as you don't bother my family I could care less," Kisho said smiply. And it was true. But after her antics, should he really believe anything she said? He'd definately have to keep his eyes peeled. Turning his head a little to glance out at the landscape he murmured flatly, "Children? I truely thought you were a little more intellegent then that. I guess not." Really, where was common sense these days?

Hamaki looked at him with a raised brow. "What does intelligence have to do with it? Even an idiot can have kids." She said, shrugging a little as she curled her white-tipped tail around her legs. "Not that I am one, obviously." She said with a snort. "And besides, I didn't plan this. It just happened." She said with another snort of defiance. "I see you're still as irritating as ever. Got a girlfriend yet?" She said with an air of saracasm. She highly doubted anyone could stand to be around this male for very long. No wonder he was always alone, his family probably couldn't stand him.

"Well, puppies hardly come out of thin air, you had to do something to get them, am I wrong? And that hardly seems wise if you can barely care for yourself. How will you care for a brood? What if there are 12 or some such number? That all seems to border on the idiotic if you ask me," he replied, unphased by her insults. "I really have no need for such a thing. I have better things to do then waste my time with a female who only wants to have children when our pack doesn't need it." He had things to do-he has his family to protect. He was always working in the background, always doing what he could for their safety and well-being. It left him little time to lollygag and he honestly didn't mind.

Hamaki rolled her eyes at him once more. "Obviously I did something to make it happen, but I didn't plan on it happening any time soon." She stopped trying to explain herself, pushing the thoughts away as he continued to speak. "I will care for them as best I can. And I can take care of myself. You met me on a... bad day." In reality, his words had a profound effect on her. What if he was right? What if she couldn't take care of them? She mulled this over in her mind, trying to keep her expression blank, though her heart began to race as she got nervous from thinking about it. She didn't want anything bad to happen to her puppies when they came.
"And what better things do you have to do?" She asked, trying to push his words from her mind. "I can't imagine you do anything very productive." Insulting him made her feel better, as childish as her insults may be.

"Mm? It had looked like you had had many bad days when I met you," he mused simply. She had been starving and that certainly wasn't a product of one day's missed meal. But let her believe what she liked. He wasn't so easily swayed by words, especially her pointless insults that had no factual foundation. "I support and protect my family in all things. It's a rather long list of things I accomplish for their benefit. But a rogue like you couldn't possibly understand, I suppose, since you don't live in such a group."

Hamaki gave him a glare, "I used to be a part of a pack. I do understand it." She said with a small amount of sadness in her voice. "Just because I'm a rogue, doesn't mean I don't know how to care." She snorted once more, laying down with difficulty. "I will be part of a group again, very soon by the feeling of it." She said, looking down at her stomach for a moment., She could feel the babies inside kicking, and she once again felt a wave of nervousness.

"Then you had no reason to ask me such a question," Kisho replied simply. If she understood she shouldn't question it. It was a waste of both their times and it made her come off as ignorant. And whether she was telling the truth or not she was right about one thing-she wouldn't be alone again. She'd have little ones to look after. Her odds at taking care of them didn't seem good, not on her own, but probablitiy and reality were different. Perhaps if she worked hard enough she could fair well. As long as she didn't bother his pack, however, he didn't care either way.

Hamaki didn't asnwer him, she just shrugged a little and adjusted her large stomach under her. A flock of birds flew above them, and she looked up, but couldn't see them clearly. She looked back down at Kisho, wondering about his words once more. Another flood of nervousness swept over her, and she tried to shake it off. "All I know is that I'll take care of them and let nothing nothing bad happen." She spoke softly, the first time her voice was uncertain since they met. Her words were directed more to her babies than to Kisho, a motherly tenderness coating her speech.

"Mm," Kisho turned his head, looking away from her and out across the savanna. He was a seer-he could easily look and view the future of the strange female and her pups. But he wasn't one to take the easy way out in life. She would have to decide her own fate and the fate of her children. He would not do it for her. "You do that," he said simply, taking a few steps forward to turn and head back to his pack. She was hardly a threat to his family-but he'd keep his eyes open. Whether it was for his pack or for her he wouldn't acknowledge.

Hamaki looked over at him, head held high. "I will." She snapped, her old ferocity coming back into her voice now. As she watched him turn to leave, she became a bit worried. "Are you going?" She said, trying to make it seem like she didn't care, though her voice gave it away. She had no idea what was wrong with her. It was the first time since her childhood that she had longed for someone to stay with her. She tried to shake it off, but the feeling remained. Instincts, she thought with a snort.
